Highly recommend. " - "We stayed at the Reclusive Moose Cabins for 3 nights. We enjoyed every moment at the cabin. It’s very clean and cozy. The host/owner greeted us at the cabin upon arrival and checked in with us the first night via text to make sure we settled in and if anything we needed. He was very responsive throughout communication. Highly recommended this place. The kitchen is fully equipped. The cabin also has bear spray available. If you happen to use it and then just need to buy a new one for replacement. Bear spray is a non return item if you purchased at the store. If you stay at here, don’t buy bear spray up front. Take the ones from the cabin. We brought them with us on hiking trails and did not need to use it. That saved us $40 from buying it at the store. "

"Everything about this stay was great; the location, the cabin, the lake, and the owners. Such a neat experience, we didn't want to leave!"

"This little cabin had all the touches to feel like home - from a well stocked kitchen, to beach towels, to chairs in many places outdoors, it felt well thought out and very easy to enjoy. The location is ideal for exploring West Glacier but also is very close to Columbia Falls for services and restaurants. It’s the perfect place to start and end the day! Cabin itself is small but has everything you need. Bed is comfy, water is hot, and everything is clean. We took the boat out but mostly enjoyed watching the loon from the dock. Neighbors are quiet. Thanks for sharing your space…. Definitely recommend!"
''The wildlife has been something to behold! Seven Black Bears, two Mountain Goats, Deer and the majestic beauty of the Loons! We will never forget.'' Carl & Lola
Get away from it all and relax! Aspen Shores Cabin is only 20 minutes from the west entrance to Glacier National park, Twenty minutes to Glacier International Airport, thirty minutes to Flathead Lake...the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi and just minutes away from the small towns of Columbia Falls and Whitefish.
Our non-smoking property is ideal for groups of 2 to 4 people and can accommodate up to 5 people. We have WiFi and a TV monitor with CD/blue-ray player for your use. We pride ourselves on providing all the amenities you need to enjoy your stay, including cookware, dishes, fishing gear, private dock, row boat and much more.
Experience Montana in this cozy cabin on the lake. Spoon Lake is a beautiful and quite lake with abundant wildlife. Relax under the cedars on the hammock and listen to the loons call. Fish from the private dock and catch perch, bass, sunfish or take the row boat out to the deeper waters to catch Cutthroat trout. Swim on a warm afternoon, pick huckleberries or take a hike on forest service land. Relax as you watch the sunset across the lake.
The cabin is located on Spoon Lake, right off the North Fork Road and only a few minutes from the western park boundary. Our location offers convenient access to all the hiking, fishing, rafting and recreational spots along the North Fork of the Flathead River. From your base at Aspen Shores Cabin you can set out and explore. Hike the national park trails and take in the stunning beauty of Kintla and Bowman Lakes in the less traveled portion of the park. Barbecue on the gas grill or warm yourself and play games in front of the elegant Waterford gas stove after a fine day of hiking, shopping or exploring. Climb the stairs/ladder to the cozy bedroom complete with king bed and two twin beds, or open the queen sleeper sofa in the living room and sleep right in front of the glowing fire. On warm days let the breeze blow through and smell the mountain air, or use the upstairs air conditioner for sleeping comfort.
Enjoy lower rates by booking stay dates in May or early June as well as September and October. These times offer a quieter and slower paced experience by avoiding the crowds of the peak season. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us! We are a family of 5 (2 teens and a 12 year old). The cabin was perfect. We spent time both in the park (mostly West side) and here on the lake. The kids loved to swim and paddle around the lake! We saw one of the loons floating along from the porch one day! Going to the sun Road was open, and we loved it! We were above to hike Avalanche Lake, visit Lake McDonald and stop at many of the spectacular falls and vistas along the way. We hiked on snow packed ground in our shorts and T shirts at Logan’s Pass. There were people sledding, skiing and building snowmen. Some who were in flip flops or sandals were regretting it, though. The weather has been beautiful (75-85 degrees) and no rain. We are headed to the East side today to stay at a cabin. We hope to visit Two Medicine, Many Glacier, and St. Mary’s. Thank you again!

We had a great time here at the cabin. We were impressed at how well stocked the cabin was. Even bear spray! Wow! The loons were great fun to watch and the kids loved the rowboat. It was wonderful to have a comfy place to come to after a rainy hike. We didn’t see much wildlife on this trip. There was a bald eagle flyover at Lake McDonald, a few other birds, but not much else. I was impressed that you had filed guides and binoculars. This was such a calm, peaceful place. We didn’t want to leave.

''I love this place! The lake is so peaceful and good fishing too! It took a while to find the spot but we found it and caught a mess of fish (5 Trout, 1 Bass, and more Perch and Sunfish than I can count). It's beautiful on the lake and I hope I can visit again someday when I have kids.'' Alan G.
''We experienced abundant wildlife at the lake: Loons, Mallards, Hares, Osprey, and Hummingbirds. The family of Loons greeted us every morning. We can only hope that your stay in Montana is as memorable and spiritual as ours has been. We are saddened as we pack our belongings because this is truly God's country.'' Sincerely Travis & Katie
''We had such a great time here-you made us feel right at home. The cabin is so clean & comfy. This little corner of the world is truly paradise. The lake, the cabin, the whole setting is just so peaceful & relaxing. We can't wait to come back.'' Wendy & Eddy
''Spoon Lake is a dream. Beautiful views, enchanting Loons, heavenly scents in the air and the sky seems so big! Thank you so much for providing such a lovely cabin & for sharing your piece of heaven. We had a new adventure everyday but particularly enjoyed returning here.'' Mary, Greg, Alexis & Conner
- "This was my second time staying at this property and I’m so glad I did. This cabin is very cozy, and in short distance to everything. Will definitely be coming back here." - "The space is beautiful. We loved sitting on the hammock and dock. The location is great and stargazing was awesome. However the air conditioning is just a window unit in the loft area, so it was really hot in the living space until late at night, even with the windows open. We visited on one of the hottest weeks so it’s likely cooler other times of the year."

- "We enjoyed our stay at the kozy cabins! It’s a great location close to Glacier and really close to downtown Columbia Falls. They have thought of everything and if you’re missing something they have it at the cabin. We will definitely stay again!" - "We enjoyed our stay at Cabin D. It was very close to Glacier National Park which was a perk. It only took us 20-25 mins to get to the west entrance from the cabin. I will say I was a little surprised when I got there that it’s set up similar to a duplex. There’s a thin wall with a locked door separating the two cabins and you could easily hear voices through the wall which voices are easy to tune out, loud clunking isn’t. It wasn’t a huge deal because we were only there to sleep but just be mindful of the shared wall. It’s easy to be loud when someone may be trying to sleep. Overall, we were pleased with our stay. It was very clean, everything you could need was provided, and it was in a perfect location to rest your head at night."

WELCOME TO SPOON LAKE
Walk out the door to 2 kayaks or a canoe & listen to the loons sing their greetings on this quiet, serene mountain-surrounded lake. Most summers, we love watching rare mating pairs of loons that nest on the far side of the lake. If they are nesting the Fish, Wildlife & Parks set out white buoys along the far shore that asks you not to go within the space. There are only about 80 mating pairs in the entire state of Montana, so it is a treat to hear them. We occasionally see groups of 5-8 at a time. Bird lovers may also hear both Pileated Woodpeckers, Stellar Jays, Northern Flickers, Robins, Mallard Ducks, Canada Geese, & we have seen Trumpeter Swans on occasion in the spring or fall. Enjoy hummingbirds & keep an eye out for those Bald Eagles & Osprey that often battle each other in the skies over the lake. Seeing them dive or swoop down into the water for a fish is an exhilarating thrill. We have seen muskrats, a few beaver sightings & once a moose cow & her calf strolled the shore to the right & swam from point to point and then the far side brushy area to the left.
We are adjacent to Glacier National Park & surrounded by the Flathead National Forest. Always be vigilant for other wild animals like bear, mountain lions, coyotes, wolves, moose & deer at all times. We recommend you hike w/ Bear Spray. We DO NOT guarantee any of the leftover cannisters you may find in the bathroom top shelf, if any. It can be rented in Apgar inside the park or at the airport and other outlets. They are not allowed on airplanes.
If timing is right, huckleberries may be found on the property or nearby woods. If you're lucky, Jo may provide you w/ some fresh huckleberry muffins or the like. Enjoy the BBQ & outdoor eating options overlooking the lake. If you prefer, please enjoy eating at the picnic table & play badminton if the net is up in the 'meadow'. Enjoy a refreshing swim off the private floating dock. PLEASE NO DIVING because it's too shallow!!! The barge w/ the trolling motor is for the OWNERS ONLY. Spoon Lake features glacier-fed, underground springs gurgling up in the far, left end of the lake, easily explored w/ the kayaks or canoe,
When you are ready to explore the vast million-acre Glacier National Park you are only 20 minutes from the West Glacier gate. Take the shortcut across Blankenship Bridge where the legendary North Fork & Middle Fork of the Flathead River meet. Explore some of Montana's finest fishing holes & whitewater rivers, or hike Glacier Park's magnificent peaks, waterfalls & glacial valleys in God's Country. Historic Polebridge is 29 miles up the North Fork Road (Hwy 486) past Lake Drive which is also the gateway to the North Fork GNP entry. You can also access GNP at the Camas Road entry halfway up to Polebridge which is a backdoor entrance to Apgar Village. The full spring opening & fall closing of the Going to the Sun Road (GTTSR) varies every year depending on the park service maintenance crews snow clearing efforts.
Some kind of park pass is required to enter any part of GNP, but as of the summer of 2025, the GNP vehicle reservation system is also in effect at park entrances at West Glacier on the west side of Going to the Sun Road, at Polebridge & Many Glacier. This year only a park pass without the additional entry RSVP is needed to enter Going to the Sun Road at St Mary's on the east side and at Two Medicine. VERY IMPORTANT you visit the GNP website for reservation details to access the park & view road conditions. You MUST HAVE BOTH a park pass PLUS a vehicle reservation to enter the park where noted. As you will read, there are other ways to secure access if you reserve a campground, reserve a boat trip or horseback ride, rent a boat or kayak, etc. PLEASE REVIEW CAREFULLY.
We also HIGHLY recommend that you reserve a vehicle rental in advance. If you can't find a rental at the airport various auto dealers may be leasing cars & the Turo.com website offering privately rented vehicles to fill the void.
Many other exciting opportunities await you throughout the Flathead Valley & beyond. Explore trendy Whitefish boutiques & restaurants, the Whitefish Lake Lodge Resort Marina, providing watercraft rentals of all kinds PLUS the lakefront Tiki Bar & Grill, & the Whitefish Resort at Big Mountain for summer gondola rides & mountain biking w/ spectacular 360-degree views as your reward. Bigfork art galleries, summer playhouse or Flathead Lake activities are only 30 minutes south. Some of our guests have hired fishing guides on Flathead Lake & it's a beautiful drive around Flathead Lake especially during cherry picking season in July. We also love the Far West boat tour of Flathead Lake and the Alpine Coaster both in Lakeside.
We are 8.5 miles north of casual, laid-back Columbia Falls featuring the Three Forks Grille, the Gunsight Bar & Grill that includes outdoor picnic style seating w/ frequent live music, Up Town Hearth, Vaqueros, the Nite Owl & their Back Room Diner for dinner. Other eateries are scattered in Columbia Falls & from West Glacier to Whitefish. The Isaak Walton Inn & the Belton Chalet are historic sites with some fine dining & drinking establishments worth considering. There are numerous Food Trucks providing a wide variety of eats, especially throughout the summer at the Community Market every Thursday, next to St Richards Catholic Church. Everyone loves Uptown Hearth, Montana Coffee Traders or any number of coffee huts. We especially like the baristas at Friske Bean next to the Columbia Nursery on Hwy 2. You can find Smith's Grocery store on Nucleus in the original downtown of Columbia Falls, closest to us & Super 1 out on the hwy. The Perfect Cuts butcher shop also has a great selection of meats to bbq.
When your day is done exploring this magnificent part of Montana, our guests always say chilling at Spoon Lake is the perfect way to relax & reflect on your adventures, especially if you enjoy a steam shower or an *outdoor hot tub au natural. (*subject to unexpected equipment repairs)
We hope you will make wonderful memories at Spoon Lake just as we have. There have been a number of folks who are repeat visitors, especially honeymooners. One of our guest couples has been back for the 6th year in a row the summer of 2025.

- "Would recommend staying in this adorable house! Well stocked from body wash to laundry detergent! Nice deck for eating meals. Hosts were amazing to work with!" - "Adorable cabin. About 5 minutes from Columbia falls and 15 minutes from west glacier entrance. Columbia has done great coffee shops and restaurants for diner.it’s really perfectly located for a vacation to get away from it all. Cabin is clean, thoughtful amenities, and pup friendly. Great deck to enjoy after a long day of hiking. It seems secluded but is close to it all. Hosts are fantastic. This is a great choice."
