The house is SUPER CLEAN throughout, and all of the appliances work without a hitch. We especially loved the kitchen: there are loads of glasses (including great wine glasses), cups, bowls, plates, and many oft-used and even obscure utensils, everything you could possibly need (we didn't do any baking, but there's a muffin tin and a cake pan! -- maybe next time). The house is well-appointed, with touches of local colour throughout (believe me, the photos on the website doesn't do it justice). The view from the kitchen is stunning, with the sea rising from the mist in the morning, and ending the day in a glorious sunset (on the sunny days, of course, of which we were lucky enough to experience a few). The rental is well situated, near some great restaurants (we especially liked The Boreal Diner and Two Whales) and numerous hiking trails. The Historical Ellis Saint house sits about 50 yards from the ocean with a breath taking view like no other. The exterior of the house has been brought back to its original state has it first sat over 120 years ago when it was occupied by the Saint family. We try to be as sustainable as possible and support local as much as possible. We “ iron in the wind “ you’ve probably seen the Newfoundland tourism ad’s of laundry on the clothes lines. Basics for you to use, locally made soaps by East Coast Glow and the fabulous salt by Newfoundland Salt Company to name a few. When in season, Doreen pops by with organic veggies you can buy directly from her. The entire house is filled with original art, much of it local, vintage and quirky "stuff". We do not charge a cleaning fee and thus ask our guests to leave the house clean and tidy please. The sunset photographs, are taken from the garden, no filter! The Bonavista Peninsula is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and there is so much to do on this wonderful peninsula. You can contact me anytime for more info. ABSOLUTELY No PETS of any kind. Jewel’s Retreat, is a fully equiped home located on 3 acres of historical farm/ livestock land previously owned by The Power Family some years ago. This land was passed down through family generations to 2 bachelor brothers who were good family friends of my family and especially childhood friends of my Father. During your stay here, one will truly appreciate the warm comfort and fantastic peaceful scenery which surrounds this home , taste and smell the saltwater air blowing among the wind and will come to understand and respect the true Newfoundlander, their lifestyles in not only today's world, but in the years gone by too!! Cozy three-bedroom vintage inspired Bonavista home full of art and light, a five-minute walk from Church Street.

This bright, traditional and sunny two storey house is furnished with antique and one-of-a-kind furniture and stocked with great coffee, tea, and snacks. Records, books and vintage board games fill the living room shelves, and art by N.L. artist Jennah Turpin cover the walls. The private fenced in yard with a patio and hot tub can be enjoyed year round.

The space
The couch in the living room is massive and so very comfy. More than big enough for a stretch and an undisturbed afternoon nap. Throw on a few records while you do!

The TV uses Chromecast and the WiFi means you'll have no trouble streaming your favourite shows and movies. I also have a DVD player and have a small selection of movies to choose from. Sorry, cable is not offered.

There are cards and board games to play at the big kitchen table and an antique parlor set that makes for perfect reading spots.

There is one standard bathroom located downstairs with a bathtub and shower.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms. Two bedrooms have a double bed, and the third small bedroom has a single bed. There is a single cot, mattress and sleeping bag if you need one. There are fans provided for hotter summer nights.

I have a privacy fence, 4 person hot tub and firepit in the backyard for guests to use. There are some string lights hung so you can relax or dine outside on warmer nights. The large patio has a picnic table, lots of seating and a bbq. A propane tank is provided, and i will do my best to keep it full for you.

Our home is over 100 years. Unlike a lot of traditional homes we have 8 foot ceilings in the main living areas which will be suitable for taller guests. Please note the kitchen nook and laundry area have ceiling height of approximately 5’10” feet with the laundry having a shorter entrance height.
