- "Far View was a beautiful house built in 1925 . The town doctor built the house for his wife and children. Our room was on the first floor with a private bath. It was very clean and comfortable. It was the original library and still filled with old books and new books to read. Every room is decorated for Christmas and it is very charming. You know the saying “ if walls could talk” I know the stories that would come out make your stay even better. I recommend Far View if you are going to Brenham.The owners couldn’t have been any nicer. But you need to find out for yourself . 12-8-23 "

There was a severe horrible sewer smell in one of the bathrooms. Ceiling fan did not work in one of the bedrooms. Not many amenities in the kitchen or in the bathroom. Instructions said to Run the dishwasher and there was no dishwasher soap. Shower head in one bathroom broken and hand held just dangling. "

New barn dominium with central heat and air, built just off the main house. It has a full kitchen, large living area, courtyard with firepit. Enjoy the large screen television with satellite Direct TV, hike the woods on 21 acres, or simply enjoy a cold drink in the courtyard. You will be 15 minutes from Lake Somerviille, 30 minutes from Brenham and 45 minutes from Round Top, Texas. The unit will sleep 4 comfortably plus a foldout for one in the living room. We are 30 minutes from Kyle Field. Football fans are surely welcome. We just built a pond.

The fire pit and chairs outside are a nice bonus and listening to the birds and goats there over morning coffee/tea was absolutely delightful. The hosts were easy to communicate with and very friendly and helpful. The drive to and from A&M was easy, some of it stunning countryside. (But it does take about 30 minutes.) Perhaps the only thing to keep in mind is that we had spotty cell service there (Verizon and T-Mobile) and there was no internet. But if you are looking for a place to unplug and relax or a place to come back to after a busy day at A&M or nearby attractions, this is great!"

It was the perfect space for our family of 4 (plus dog!) Our plans changed a bit, and we couldn’t make it in the first night of our rental. However, the owner very accommodating. It was Father’s Day & my husband’s birthday, so we had plans to bake cupcakes one night after a day of lake fun. However, they didn’t have mixing bowls or a cupcake pan (I admit… it’s not something a lake house should typically have…) but just in case you have plans to do the same, bring your own. They do have a few Pyrex dishes that we ended up using. Overall, it was so wonderful. We can’t wait to book again!"

In the middle of the night, when you have to use the toilet, you need to get there fast!!! There also were not two bathrooms in the main house. One “bathroom” had a toilet and a sink, and the other a shower and a sink. To be a bathroom, it must have a toilet. The main house was so over decorated and had so many of the owners personal items that there was no room to place your own personal things. Even though the house had been cleaned, it felt dirty with so much stuff everywhere. It was an artist’s nightmare. I would not recommend this property. Will never stay here again. Marty B"
