- "For the price that was charged, the communication should of been much, much better. We were not told until after the fact that the wifi it says they have we have to pay for separate. The Queen size bed creaked and made so much noise when you turn, it can be heard throughout. Not to mention, very uncomfortable. The 3 of us were the only people in the pool area. We were told to put our masks on and stay 6 ft apart. We were family. They never said a word later when 6 others walked in with no masks. All the little details like pool hour schedules, that your suppose to get a bracelet for the pool, you have to purchase a card for laundry services. None of that is mentioned before reserving a cabin. It said 2 twin beds, it didn't say short bunk beds. I'm 6'1" and could not sleep on them. The futon you can feel the bars underneath when you sit, making it very uncomfortable. If we ever consider trying the property again, it will be gone over completely before renting. There is no way we would purchase the very expensive price for the membership."

We welcome you to stay at our humble little guest suite nestled in the Santa Cruz mountains. Enjoy the serenity and stillness between the towering redwoods and bustling wildlife. This guest suite is located off the “wine trail” between Gilroy and Morgan Hill (around 15 minute drive from both), and directly next to Martin Ranch Winery. Here you can enjoy your privacy on your getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The property is very privately located on a 6 acre serene piece of land. It is gated and has a private paved driveway to the house. The guest suite is separated from the main house by the breezeway where you will be allowed to park. Since the guestroom is not attached to the main house there is a separate entrance to enter the suite. It is a quaint room with a queen size bed, refrigerator, and 42” TV w/ Roku (all streaming apps are installed). The bathroom has a slipper bathtub with host provided supplies.

Please stay within the gated area of the house and around the guest suite. The main house is occupied and off limits. Guests have access to the gazebo and any seating areas around the courtyard, as well as the pool while in season (beach towels are provided in the room). The BBQ, however is not to be used.

The water is well water and is not potable. We provide a couple bottles of water, so please consider bringing potable water if you will be staying for an extended period of time.

This property does use motion activated security cameras. They are only located on the outside of the property and they are not in view of the pool or outdoor lounging area. There are five cameras in total. The first is located on a tree and views the entrance/gate. The second camera is also our doorbell and located by the front door. The third camera is located above the guest bathroom window and views the garage door and parking area. The fourth camera is located at the end of the covered walkway and covers the guest room door and garage door. The final camera is located in the covered lounging area on the backside of the house and has only the back doors in view.

It is like staying the night in a boutique hotel that is a museum of local history. Three couples and a single stayed here, comfortably. We enjoy our little "country club" so much. We eat breakfast on our deck, and usually eat dinner at our big granite patio table under our grape arbor, surrounded by fruit trees and watching our horses. The swimming pool is large and very inviting on a warm day. And collecting our eggs from the chickens is a ritual we enjoy, especially when our nieces and nephews visit.
The house is very comfortable, bright, and open. There is a family room with a piano, TV, and game table, and a separate living room for sitting, talking, or reading without the interruption of the tv.

Interaction with guests

We typically are out of town when we rent out the house, but our adult kids are nearby and always a phone call away. There is information about activities and suggestions for day trips available at the house for your reference.

The neighborhood

We are in a rural area- some neighbors have horses, or huge gardens, or just like having their space. There are ag fields all around us growing hay or corn or peppers. Not far off the freeway (close enough to be convenient, but far enough away to not be an annoyance), there is easy access to amazing locations in all directions. There is a "wine trail" nearby with one winery after another. There are beautiful parks in the foothills with excellent hiking. The Pinnacles National Park is an hour away for the more serious hikers. San Juan Bautista is an old Mission town- very historic with a few good restaurants and lots of antique stores and a great mission open to the public. Monterey is 45 minutes away. San Francisco is just over an hour north, and just past that is the Napa Valley Wine Country. Yosemite is 3 hours away. Closer to home there are great restaurants, and plenty of shopping at the Gilroy outlet malls.

Getting around

There is a train station 7 miles away that goes all the way to San Francisco.

Our CALENDAR is somewhat flexible. If you are interested in an unavailable date, request an available date and that will allow you to email us. Tell us your dates and we can see if we can arrange it for you.

The swimming pool has a safety cover and is fully fenced, but not heated in the winter. The horses and chickens and yard and pool are cared for in our absence. The cat stays here while we are gone-he has auto food and water outside and you can let him in and out as he or you please. In other words, you'll feel like you're staying on a ranch!

We were conveniently near the lacrosse fields for easy back and forth (10 minute drive) but also just an hour from the coast for explore on our free days.
