This is a comfortable, dual-level, family town home situated 1 block from the beach at Rio Del Mar … just far enough to feel peacefully apart from the crowds, but an easy amble to the beach. This popular beach runs south of Santa Cruz and boasts miles of sand and a variety of restaurants. There is also a shopping center with a major grocery store; sundries and hardware store and other shops and restaurants nearby. A 2 minute walk takes you to the Seacliff State Park and Beach with BBQ and picnic areas, fishing pier and walking path.

This furnished vacation home has vaulted ceilings; tile and carpeted floors; large, open floor plan; and its own private deck. The secluded deck is a wonderful spot to relax and listen to the ocean. Hand crafted by my dad in 1960 out of redwood and knotty pine, this meticulously maintained and spotless beach house is perfect for families with children or couples looking for a romantic getaway.
Our house is limited to 4 registered guests and rented very sparingly, and our single story "Hawaiian style" 1950's beach cottage is located on a private dead end street with a level, flat yard.... just 300 yards from the beach. Private and sunny backyard patio and sundeck with views up to tree filled open space hillside, total quiet and zen! Please read our reviews. You'll have sun, solitude, total privacy, a large backyard, sundeck, and sublime quiet in this classic/vintage, mid-century beach house, which is located on this very quiet cul de sac backing up to a Santa Cruz County Designated Scenic Corridor greenbelt in your back yard. From the backyard watch the wild-birds, seagulls, red- tailed hawks, and then listen to the owls at night. (did we say NO stairs ?!!...ours is a single story house, large level front yard and level fenced backyard, and short level walk to the sand).
We call it the "cove" because its located 300 yards from the water in what is a natural cove with the ancient fossil rich ocean cliff rising 100' behind it. (you may have read about the Mastodon tooth discovery here in June '23).

We have worked hard to create a comforting and luxurious welcome to our beach villa, located in Aptos, CA. As of Fall 2022 we've upgraded to hardwood floors, two luxurious bathrooms, all new furniture and decor, spruced up kitchen and fireplace, and added tech, including keyless entry.

Location, location! Your cozy getaway awaits in Aptos at this marvelous guesthouse. The house is 5 minutes walk to Rio del Mar beach, and it is one mile away from the Forest of Nisene Marks. Either surfing, hiking, biking or beach relaxation is your choice of activity, you can have it all!

You will have access to the whole second floor of the house, with a separate entrance from the main house. No one will be downstairs when you stay, so you will have your privacy throughout the whole stay.

- "This property is a very short walk to a fairytale-esque path down stairs to the beach. We could enjoy sunsets from the house or the beach and it was great to come back and soak in the hot tub" - "The house was in a very residential neighborhood of "tightly" houses BUT once you park your car and enter the house, it became a home. The pictures does not do it justice. The natural light is amazing. Even thought the beach is a 9 minute walk, you can still hear the waves. Even it is cozy home, it is also spacious. The main bedroom king size bed was just wonderful, the best sleep one could have. And just outside the sliding glass door is another little paradise. The backyard with the hot tub, is get place to get away from the wear and tear of the day. And at night a great place to look at the stars. The location of the house make it very easy to park the car in the driveway and walk to the beach or to the little business area where one can get great food and ice cream. The best thing about the place was how the property managers were very quick to respond to chats regarding the house. So in closing, when we return to Aptos, this will be the first place to check to see if it is available."

I have a cat named Lala....she is a free range kitty....mostly outdoors but inside at night. Very friendly but independent like most cats. She does her bathroom duties outside so there is no litter box and no smell in the house. She is a short hair 'tabby' and I vacumn regularly so even people with cat allergies have not had any real problems so far.

This is a quiet peaceful 11.5 x 14’ studio attached to the back of the house. There are two large skylights which fill the room with warm light. Across the street, a 40 acre public park with hiking trails into the redwoods & to the creek which runs behind the house and studio. Located near the end of the road there is almost no traffic, no streetlights and no sidewalks. Redwoods tower above, home to hawks, owls and woodpeckers. Shopping, restaurants and Niscene Marks State Park 5 minutes away.

The space
The space itself is clean and quiet with all the bare essentials, a bathroom with toilet and shower and a small kichenette. Guests have access to the yard, deck, orchard and ping-pong table. Although very quiet with a secluded feeling it is just one minute to the freeway with shopping and great restaurants nearby. The beach and Niscene Marks State Park are about five minutes away. There’s also a 40 acre county park across the street that is used on the weekends for soccer games and baseball. A trail goes around the park and can lead down to the creek which runs through the redwood forest and behind the house and studio. It’s not uncommon to see rabbits, coyotes, bobcats and other wildlife out in the meadow hunting gophers. This is a quiet peaceful place attached to the back of the house. There are two large skylights which fill the room with a warm lighting. If you like to sleep in you might want to bring an eye mask. The house and studio are located near the end of the road so there is almost no traffic. There are no streetlights and no sidewalks. Redwoods tower above and are home to hawks, owls and woodpeckers. I give music lessons a few times a week and will let you know ahead of time. I haven’t had any complaints so far about the music lessons. Pets are welcome but please let me know ahead of time as there is an extra cleaning fee for bringing pets. During COVID-19 extra precautions are being taken to clean and sanitize between guests including following the Airbnb protocol. I also run a HEPA filter with a UV light that kills viruses and bacteria.

Feel free to use the yard and deck for relaxation, yoga, reading and grilling. There is a large shared deck for general use as well as your own private deck.

I give music lessons 2-3 times a week on guitar piano and percussion. Most of the lessons you won’t hear except the percussion/drumset lessons which happens generally once or twice a week. With Covid I’m teaching much less and will let you know ahead of time. If you’re planning to be around I will make an effort to reschedule my lesson.

A few things to know about the property:
1. We can accommodate only one compact to mid-size car or SUV due to limited parking.
2. Parking is at the top of a somewhat steep 20-ft driveway; you’ll walk down to the house.
3. You’ll enter through our shared front door and pass through shared kitchen and living areas to get to your room.
4. We have a 10-year-old son, a playful black lab, and two cats. They stay out of your room but are around if you’d like to say hello. If you have pet dander allergies, this may not be the right fit.
5. The freeway is some distance below the house. You won’t see it, but you may hear occasional road noise or sirens. We have double-paned windows that block most of it, but it can be noticeable if windows are open or when you’re outside.
6. Our street is quiet, rustic, and narrow, with no sidewalks or streetlights, and limited parking—we can only host one car per stay.
7. We sometimes rent this space while we are traveling, so we may not always be available to greet you in person.

Other things to note
The home is not accessible to who cannot climb stairs. You’ll climb about 70 steps to access the house, but once you’re at the top, the views are well worth the climb! If you have little ones, please consider their safety on the steep stairs before booking.

Other Considerations and Rules (Full rules listed in "Rules" section)

+ For stays over 28 days, utilities will be capped at an amount detailed in the separate agreement. Overages will be assessed on a monthly basis.

+ No (outdoor) fires are allowed on the property due to the high risk of fires spreading through the forest.

+ STRICT enforcement of the noise policy (9pm-8am).

+ Only flush toilet paper. The septic system is delicate and damages will incur additional costs.

+ Ring technology is present outside the home to monitor the entrances and noise levels. We want to ensure our guests have a peaceful stay and that we are being good neighbors to the rest of the community!

+ While you will most likely not encounter another person, our landscaper, spa, or maintenance people may need to access the area around the property during daytime hours. You may see or hear these service professionals during your stay as they let themselves into the backyard to service as needed. Please be sure to ask about this before booking if you think it might be an issue for you.

+ In the rainy season, you may experience power outages that are out of our control, road closures due to trees falling or accidents, or other weather related inconveniences. No refunds will be provided for these circumstances, we encourage guests to purchase travel protection.

+ TV is a smart tv with streaming capabilities. There is no cable or local channels. Bring your own login to enjoy streaming apps.

+ If you’re looking for an early check-in or late check-out, we may be able to accommodate your request depending on availability. A $30 fee applies for either option to help us coordinate with our cleaning team.

+ We provide fresh towels and linens for each guest. If you’d like an extra towel set during your stay, we’re happy to provide it for a $10 fee per set.

Om Oasis is a beautiful and lush retreat center on several acres of a remote and peaceful 15 acre mountain top property. We host guests who wish to connect with the beauty of nature and experience peace. We are 10-15 minutes up the mountain and partially off-grid with little to no cell reception but with a great WiFi connection. There are a total of 7 guest accommodations (including this one) spread out over our developed 3 acres, making it always a very private experience and easy to distance.

The space
The Adobe Casita is a private, 10’x10’ single room structure with access to a detached bathroom (shared with one other accommodation) a short walk from the casita, and access to outdoor showers (shared but private to you once you enter).

This tall ceiling room is located closest to the parking portion of our property with easy walking access. There is a redwood grove and deck nearby for yoga and meditation.

Inside the room you will find a comfy King Size bed, a thin table, a chair and two display shelves boasting some of our spiritual world art collections.

This is one of our most humble accommodations on-site in terms of size and amenities. We offer these lower priced options to be able to serve a more diverse group of people and share the beauty and healing of the land with the larger community.

This accommodation has a sliding glass door that is not able to be locked from the outside so there is no key for this accommodation. There is a PVC pipe that can be laid down in the door track once inside but it is a very safe property and there are only trails private to you leading to the accommodation so no one will be walking by.

Please be sure this will fit your needs or feel free to ask us about our other fully equipped houses and tiny homes on the property.

PLEASE NOTE there is no kitchen access or refrigeration for this accommodation but the room has filtered RO drinking water, an electric tea kettle, cups and mugs, and an organic tea assortment.

We recommend bringing a cooler with ice for cold food storage needs, bringing easy instant type meals that can be prepared with hot water, bringing a camp stove for outside the casita or simply enjoying some food to-go/dining out from the local restaurants in Aptos Village just 10-12 minutes down the mountain from us.

Unfortunately due to the style of our retreat requiring some walking on loose natural, sometimes steep or dusty paths, wheelchair access is not suggested.

Guest access
During your stay with us you will have 24-hour access to the saltwater pool (not heated) and main hot tub at no additional cost, first come first served.

Additionally we have a BY RESERVATION ONLY Private Bamboo Spa and Sauna Deck that costs $100 for a 2-hour session and includes access to our infrared sauna and cold plunge as well.

You will also have access to all our outdoor amenities during including our forest sanctuary, redwood deck, meditations pond, rolling gardens and easy wood-chipped walking paths. There are no hiking trails on-site but the Forest of Nisene Marks State Park entrance is just a short drive into Aptos Village.

Other things to note
The quiet hours on our property begin at 10:00pm and go until 10:00am.

Our aim is to create a calm and peaceful atmosphere for you. We ask that you offer this back to the community in return.

Nature's presence is strong on the land. We have a large variety of plants and animals for you to enjoy. Showing respect for their presence is greatly appreciated. We value maintaining a symbiotic relationship with nature and we hope to attract like-minded individuals.

We try our best not to spray insecticides and poisons here. If you are afraid of insects or being in nature, this may not be the right fit for you.

We have 1 roaming outdoor and very friendly cat named Cura.

Please be aware that wild animals also frequent our grounds including bobcat, coyote, fox, mountain lion, raccoon, skunk, and deer.
