- "We had to clean kitchen counter and kitchen table before using it. We had to clean out side patio table. The back yard has hose and electrical cords all over the patio. The bbq grill has dirty and garbage all around it that we had to move to be able to use it. The out side garbage was full of rat traps. The Yard where not keeped up. They had garbage cans sitting on the front grass area. There was no ice maker as decribed."

This spot is for people who have camped before, and enjoy camping. People who do not mind sleeping in a tent, and smelling like bug spray!

The bathroom is open, with only a little privacy provided. You will not be seen, but may feel that it is too exposed. We have set up a camping toilet for guests to use. No shower is provided, but we do have a place for you to wash your hands.

When hosting, we keep the second floor of the house locked for our own storage. In the back of the property there is a garage but it will not be accessible.

Our House Rules: How to Live Pleasantly Ever After

1. Trash Disposal:
We kindly request all guests to place trash bins at the down street every Tuesday for collection and return them after pickup. This small effort helps maintain a clean and welcoming community. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

2. Parties and Events:
Parties, events, or gatherings are strictly prohibited both inside and outside the property.

3. Smoking Policy:
Smoking is prohibited inside and outside the property. Any evidence of smoking will result in a $2,000 fine.

4. Liability:
The property owner is not responsible for any accidents, injuries, losses or damages that occur inside or outside the property during your stay.

5. Damages or Missing Items:
Guests are responsible for missing or damaged items. Charges may be applied to your deposit if the property is not left in the same condition as at check-in.

6. Trash Limits:

• For stays of 1-2 days, guests are allowed up to two bags of trash.
• For stays with more than four bags of trash, guests must dispose of the excess. The property only has one trash bin. Non-compliance will result in a charge equal to the nightly rate.

7. Belongings:
Ensure all personal belongings are taken upon checkout. Items left behind will be disposed of by cleaners.

8. Garage and Parking:
The garage is not available for guest use. Guests may park 1-2 cars on the street in front of the house. Parking is at your own risk, though the area is safe.

9. Pool Usage:

• The shared pool is available only during the summer.
• The pool is not gated; children must be supervised at all times.
• Never swim alone.
• We are not responsible for injuries, losses or accidents around the pool.

10. Cleaning Standards:
We follow an extensive cleaning process after each stay to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for our guests.

11. Local Conditions:
Due to Saratoga’s warm climate, occasional insects may appear. We take preventive measures to minimize their presence.

12. Heater and AC Usage:

• Maintain indoor temperatures between 68°F and 72°F.
• Ensure all windows and doors are closed when using the AC to prevent system overload.
• Turn off portable heaters before leaving the house or sleeping.

13. Fireplace Use:

• The fireplace is not available in!

14. Quiet Hours:
Quiet hours are from 9pm to 8am. Please respect our neighbors and avoid any loud noises. Non-compliance will result in cancellation of your reservation without a refund.

15. Children’s Safety:
Children must be supervised by an adult at all times, both inside and outside the property.

Important Notes

• Unauthorized Guests: Any unapproved or extra guests beyond the confirmed number will result in immediate reservation cancellation without a refund. Extra guests will be charged $50 per person per day.
• Prohibited Activities: Illegal activities, including but not limited to drug use, unauthorized parties, or disturbances to neighbors, will result in immediate eviction without compensation.
• Missing/Damaged Items: Any missing or damaged items or furniture will incur additional charges.

Additional Rules

• No shoes inside the house.
• Do not put food scraps or leftovers in the kitchen sink.
• Only flush toilet paper; do not dispose of feminine hygiene products or other items, even if labeled as “flushable.”
• No personal deliveries or packages are allowed, except for food delivery.
• If more than two trash bags are generated during a short stay, guests must remove excess trash.

Art, book and antique filled family home two blocks from Saratoga Village. Private, peaceful and lush back garden. Lots of room inside and out, to stretch out, work or play and enjoy indoor /outdoor living. Easy access to cafes, restaurants, two blocks away in Saratoga Village, less than a mile to Montalvo and four miles to Mountain Winery music venue. Our comfortable home is full of art in the house and sculpture in the garden. We hope it brings you as much joy as it does for us.

The space
Saratoga now an upscale bedroom community of the Silicon Valley. Once a more rural community (described by actress Olivia DeHavilland who lived around the corner: as 'the heart of the prune belt'), it has sublime weather, few street lights, and is very safe.

Guest access
Guests have access to all of the main floor rooms, the attic and basement are unoccupied and off limits, as are the garage and tool sheds at the back of the property. The front gates at the base of the driveway can remain open, or manually closed if you prefer more privacy.

Other things to note
At the very front of the garden in an orchard there are a few bee hives, thus we have that area off limits. We will leave you a jar of our famous delicious honey to enjoy!

Five minute walk to downtown Saratoga and an easy drive to the coast, San Francisco and the wine country. Hakone Estate and Gardens, a more than 100 year old Japanese garden and event venue in the area, sits next to this home.

The space
Feel at home in this one of a kind 1890’s Victorian, centrally located in the San Francisco Bay Region. It is located on more than an acre of wooded land and situated on a deer trail with frequent wildlife sightings. This land was inhabited by the Ohlone People 4000 B.C.E.. Their artifacts have been found while cultivating my vegetable garden.

The kitchen is modern and fully equipped. There is a flat screen TV, a wood stove with wood, a CD amp audio system with large JBL speakers, ping pong table and a self-sustaining vegetable and fruit garden. The bedrooms have a queen, a full and two twin beds. Two of the rooms have there separate half baths. There is a free to use washing machine and clothes dryer. On the premises is a spa, but for safety reasons it is not available for guest use.

It is twenty five minutes to the beach in Santa Cruz, fifty minutes to San Francisco by car or train. A half hour more to the North and you are in the Napa and Sonoma County's world renowned wine country. Closer to home are more than ninety local wineries in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz County that are less than a half hour away. In an hour and a half heading South you are in Monterey, Carmel, and Big Sur.

Take a 5 minute stroll from your private country setting to Main St Saratoga and you will find cafes, galleries, shops, wine tasting rooms and fine dining at restaurants such as The Plumed Horse, and LaFondue.

There are many hiking and biking trails nearby. The property touches the Hakone Japanese Gardens. It is a few minutes to both Montalvo and The Mountain
Winery venues where you can enjoy high quality contemporary and Classical performances.

As you enter through the cathedral-ceiling foyer (chandelier is from a Mae West movie), you will pass the red room (dining room) and the large, hardwood floored living room with stone hearth and baby grand piano into the spacious and bright, open floor plan of the granite-tiled, fully stocked kitchen and family room. French doors open to the heated patio. An au pair, en-suite bedroom is on the first floor with a day bed and an office. Ascend the staircase to reach the living quarters, where there are three more en suite bedrooms (a king in the master, and queens in the other bedrooms) and a grand room. The grand room has another king sized bed, a sitting area for movies and video games, and a fully stocked laundry room.
