- "Great place " - "Excellent stay. Cute little Place. Thank you. " - "Clean and tidy! Near state park! Easy check in!" - "The property was an excellent value. It was very clean. Communication with the owners wss excellent. Check in was contactless and easy. Though it is very close to the highway, it was very quiet and we slept comfortably. The property is recently renovated and set up in a very cute manner. However, there is still some work to do on appearance. The owners are moving in the right direction. All amenities advertised were in the room and worked fine. However, if you wish to drink coffee in the mornings you need to bring your own coffee and fixings. A large drip coffee maker was in the room, but there was no coffee or cream and sugar. Safety-wise, my biggest complaint is the lack of a secondary lock on the door. The only lock is the electric coded lock. Overall, it was a pleasant stay in a lovely natural area. If you want to explore the natural beauty of this area, this property served as the perfect base station. It was clean and comfortable at an excellent price. It was a GREAT VALUE! "

- "End of Trail Bed and Breakfast is amazing! Kim took care of everything down to the fine details. We were in town for a trail race at Pickett State Park (about 35 minutes away) and we arrived to find the property very clean and safe. The rooms are comfortable, the bathrooms are updated and spotless and there is a pavilion out back with grill area, ping-pong, darts, etc and a nice fire pit (which we did not get to use while we were there). The Big South Fork/Pickett State Park is an excellent area to get away from it all. Outside of hiking to the Twin Arches, most trails are sparsely utilized. There are not many restaurants in the area, so the kitchen is a focal point to enjoy after a day's hike. The kitchen at Hikers Hideaway is stocked with cooking gear better than most to account for the distance to town. For example, there is a crock pot to cook while you hike. There is a six-quart Instant Pot to give a try. I will block out an entire day after guest leave to eliminate "turns". A turn is out at 11 and next guest in at 3. Spacing out guest arrivals ensures the cleaning lady time to address extra cleaning steps and processes. Please plan to enjoy the outdoors in the Big South Fork this season.

Hikers Hideaway is a 760 Square Foot cabin with front and back covered decks (hammock hooks!) on 2 acres in Spruce Creek Acres. Both front porch and back deck have sitting arrangements. Located off Highway 297 between the Bandy Creek Park Headquarters for Big South Fork and the Pickett State Park Visitor Center on Highway 154, this cabin offers the opportunity to access hiking trails in both Parks. In addition, the Pickett-Pogue International Dark Sky Park is nearby making this hideaway convenient for astronomers. I am sorry to say the cabin does NOT provide any type of horse facilities (No HORSES) plus NO ATV usage (or side by sides) are allowed in Spruce Creek Acres or at Hikers Hideaway. In addition, the cabin is NOT pet friendly (NO DOGS) and of course is SMOKE FREE.
However, hikers, naturalists, canoeist, astronomers, photographers plus anyone looking to enjoy attractions and events in the Big South Fork region will find "Hikers Hideaway" cabin and its location ideal. Once booked, the owner can provide hiking advice to some of the off the beaten path arches, waterfalls and landforms this unique area offers.
The one topic of concern is keeping up with garbage. There is a new bear proof garbage "cage" that holds a 20 gallon trash can. Please do not over fill garbage as the cleaning lady struggles with heavy to lift bags and unruly trash. There is a typical 12 gallon can in the kitchen. It is recommended to eliminate excessive packaging prior to arrival. Any trash bags left outside often result in animal issues with an ensuing mess. A mess caused by improper garbage handling can result in a damage deposit charge. This is the reason for the new bear proof garbage.
Pickett State park has recycling near the campground dumpster. Guest with multiple day visits can arrange a pickup schedule prior to the duration of your stay. Please do not call at the last minute. Which is to say please plan ahead to keep the garbage from being a negative. There is a dump station at 2075 Pickett Park Highway and 515 Fairgrounds Road in Jamestown. The Pickett Park Highway dump station is open on Tuesday/Thursday and Saturdays.

- "This cabin was so great! Very well stocked kitchen and close to lots of trails! The hammock is amazing! The view on the back deck is so peaceful. We were fortunate enough to be there when the stars were showing their best show! We saw meteors, the Milky Way and some of the best star “views” I’ve ever seen. It’s close to the astronomy field, which was super convenient. The owner was a great communicator. Lots of trail maps and books available at the cabin. I loved the newspaper articles on the fridge about the area. This is probably one of the cleanest rentals I’ve ever stayed in! The only thing I would say, is we had a little trouble knowing if the front door was locked while we were in the house- the knob would just turn and sometimes made a very small sound that we assumed meant it locked. We had a great time and would highly recommend staying here! The “U” shaped driveway was super convenient too! Thank for the awesome getaway!"

- "I so enjoyed my stay the lake cabin from start to finish! The property was even more beautiful than advertised. I felt welcomed from the first moment I arrived. The cabin is immaculate and well stocked, from towels to spices to outdoor equipment. I needed to do nothing but bring food! The views are lovely. It rained a few times during my stay yet I was still able to sit on the covered porch/deck and enjoy the sights and sounds! I recommend this charming place to anyone and I plan to go back again!"

We loved sitting outside and listening to nature so it's thing. We even had a visit from a nice neighborhood pup who was without a doubt the sweetest most well trained pup ever! My only wish would be for the church next door to turn off their parking lot lights which were excessively bright so we could have enjoyed the splendor of the dark sky more fully. We would definitely spend time here again."

- "Our trip was amazing. The drive there is totally worth it. The cabin was so peaceful and we enjoyed it so much. It was so clean and so beautiful and the beds were the most comfortable beds. I believe I have ever slept in even the pillows were amazing. The back deck looking out over the hillside was so beautiful. I had plenty of seating for all of us and we enjoyed the swings that were there especially the Hamic swing. We cannot wait to go back. We got to experience kayaking for the first time for a couple of us and re-experience it for a couple of us. We fished even though we didn’t catch anything. It still was amazing fishing. And there’s a shallow area that the kids played in with the lifejackets that were provided and we’re very thankful for that. The hot tub was amazing and when we had questions and messaged the owner. They were POD very quickly. We had no issues no problems and we’re going back there for next year for even longer ."

- "Beautiful setting, so peaceful and secluded we loved it! The house was very clean and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay., the open floor plan and all the windows are awesome. The back deck was our favorite spot, we enjoyed our coffee and meals there, soaking up the peace and quiet and the beautiful view." - "We had a great stay. We almost didn't book it due to it being a new listing, but glad we did. It was very peaceful and secluded. The house was clean. Just as the pictures show. Has everything you need: cooking, bedding, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, stalls for your horses, fenced area for your horses, big front deck, big back deck, plenty of seating, washer and dryer. It rained our whole trip so it was nice to hang out on porch and watch the hummingbirds after sunrise and sunset. There was a few things we sent to owner for suggestions but nothing that effected our stay. Would for sure stay again if we come back to this area. It's close to Pickett, Big South Fork, Obed, Jamestown, and Southeast Pack Trip if you don't have your own horse. Due plan on stopping at a store and bringing your own food if you are there early in the week as nothing is open until Thursday. All the places we wanted to try were closed the first part of the week :( but even with the rain we still had a great trip and did everything in the rain. If your there in June, check out the night hike at Pickett for the glowworm hike. There is also a dark sky observation field down the road as well, you will be amazed at the sky if you come from a big city with lots of light pollution (if the weather allows you to see it). Please consider staying at this place you won't regret it! Thanks Brian for sharing this home with us!"

The property is beautiful with an amazing 4 stall horse barn and pasture that would be perfect for someone that is looking for a location to take their horses. There are trails that run right next to the property and we were fortunate enough to see several riders throughout our stay. Make sure you take the time to walk the property as it is beautiful. - "This mountain house was fabulous. Plenty of room, gorgeous view! The property owner was quick to respond with a few questions that I had. We would definitely stay here again. " - "We traveled with a group that had a house down the street, we were only 3 miles apart but we felt like we were in our own world. This house is very nice and the property is beautiful! If you want to get away from everything this is your place. There is plenty of hiking nearby, but nothing fast paced, this was the slow down we needed. The majority of the 3 miles separating us from our group was rock road so be prepared to get your car washed when you leave. I highly recommend this house especially for a large group…plenty of bedrooms, beds and bathrooms! We used the kitchen nightly to cook dinner and brought most of own cookware although the kitchen was well stocked. We hope to be able to go back again!"

You’ll have the entire home and property to yourself, including the screened-in porch, yard, river access, and private driveway. The kayaks are available for your use during your stay — no extra fees, just grab a paddle and go. There are no shared spaces, so
you’ll have complete privacy to enjoy the river and woods however you’d like.
Other things to note
The last part of the drive to the house is a steep gravel road and there is one sharp turn at the bottom of the hill. 4WD or AWD is not required but highly recommended, especially in rainy weather or if you’re in a smaller vehicle. Drive slowly and carefully on
this section.
To access the river, guests will walk down a gentle slope to the bank — sturdy shoes or water sandals are a good idea. There is a cleared path in the right hand corner of the parking pad area, as you face the river.
We have great Wi-Fi, but cell service is limited. You can usually find one bar if you walk up the hill. We recommend enabling Wi-Fi calling on your phone.
Kayaks are free to use, but a quick waiver must be completed first. Simply take a picture of the signed waiver and text or email it to us. Waivers are on the kitchen table. Once submitted, we’ll send you the lock code and usage instructions.
It may take two people to safely carry or drag the kayaks down to the water. You’re also welcome to drive them to the Compton Bottom public boat launch just one street over for even easier access.
Life jackets are legally required to be in your kayak, and anyone 12 or under must wear one at all times while on the water. You are responsible for following all local laws.
If you plan to fish, be sure to get a valid Tennessee fishing license. They are easily and quickly obtainable online at the TN Wildlife Resources Agency website.
This is a remote property — grocery stores are about 30 minutes away in Jamestown or Livingston, so plan ahead.
Looking to explore the lake? East Port Marina is just 15 minutes away and offers boat rentals, dining, and access to Dale Hollow Lake.

There’s a primitive public boat launch just one road over, perfect for small fishing boats, canoes, kayaks and jet skis. For anything larger, we can provide parking at one of our other locations close to East Port Marina — just give us a heads-up!
If you want, it’s possible to launch your large boat at East Port Marina, store your trailer at one our lots there and tie your boat up on the bank near the house.
Want to make things even easier? East Port Marina rents boat slips, so you can drop your boat in the water before arriving and not worry about launching it every day or tying it up on the bank Just hop in the car, head to the marina, and you’re ready to go. Let us know if you’d like help coordinating logistics for a larger boat!
