- "HayJac house is the place to stay while in Bardstown. This home will not disappoint you. There is more than enough space and essentials for two couples at the home. Jim and Gina have made sure their guests are comfortable by stocking the home with extra bath towels, toiletries, and kitchen essentials. They even thought of little things like small throw blankets for the cool mornings or evenings, extra wine and bourbon glasses and a supply of coffee. They were quick to respond to any communication. The home is nicely decorated and very clean. Hadorns bakery is next door and is a must to visit and other restaurants are within walking distance. The back patio is a great place to relax after a day on the Bourbon Trail."

- "Overall, excellent. I would be concerned if the other units were occupied as the walls in this historic building seemed thin. The bedrooms have a door that opens to the front hallway and definitely are not sound proof. For the cost and the location, worth the risk of dealing with potential noise. I do have a concern about the steel staircase up to the unit from the back. The original landing that is still there even though there is a steel plate installed over it has what looks like significant rust. Being a developer, I would have it replaced in the next year or so. Would rent this unit again!"

The Grigsby House is a two-story, two-bedroom, two and a half bathroom charming townhouse located in the heart of downtown Bardstown. This property is within walking distance from historic Bardstown's main street, St. Joseph Basilica, The Oscar Getz Museum of Whiskey History and overlooks the Kentucky Bourbon Festival and Bardstown Arts and Crafts Fair.

There is one bedroom upstairs offering a King size bed with a full bath and dressing area and a flat screen TV. The downstairs bedroom offers a Queen size bed with a full bath and flat screen TV. Our home is located on a busy street. This causes some street noise which is a trade-off for the great location right in town. We do provide sound machines in the bedrooms to help with this noise.

Located on the Bourbon Trail, you will be a short drive from several popular distilleries. Our loft is perfect for a Bourbon Trail explorer, a couples getaway, families and business travelers. You will also find popular local events such as the Kentucky Bourbon Festival and Arts and Crafts Fair just steps away.

The loft features a full kitchen, bathroom, sitting room and two bedrooms. One bedroom overlooks North Third Street with large windows to enjoy the view. This bedroom does have some street noise but we provide a soothing sound machine and ear plugs for your comfort. We have also installed blackout and noise filtering curtains to help with the street light and noise. This is an old building with strict restrictions on replacing the windows so the old windows do rattle some. If you are a light sleeper, I recommend sleeping in the first bedroom. The bathroom is attached to the first bedroom. You must pass through the first bedroom to access the bathroom and the second bedroom. There is also some water damage on the walls from water seeping in through the bricks. This is an ongoing issue with this old building that is repaired on occasion but then returns. This is part of the charm of this historic building. We want everyone to enjoy their stay so we want to disclose these potential issues so you can make an informed decision when booking your stay.

A cozy cabin within a few miles of several distilleries, downtown Bardstown, and many other local attractions. The cabin sits on 1 acre and is pretty secluded. Surrounded by mostly farmland, it’s the perfect spot to sit on the front or back porch and enjoy the scenery while you have your morning coffee, an evening BBQ, playing a few of the games we provide, or a fire at the firepit. There is seating on both porches and at the firepit. The cabin is equipped with all of the amenities to ensure an enjoyable stay. We are handicap accessible. The Bedroom has a large closet with extra linens, pillows, iron and plenty of space to store your attire for your visit. Parking is right outside the entrance which is separate from the house. There are 3 steps down into the Airbnb. You’ll enter the kitchen which has a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, k-cup coffeemaker and sink. There are utensils in the drawer. From there, you’ll go through a small hallway with a desk and a full bathroom on the right. The living room has a couch which lays down into a bed, a big comfy chair and a large TV with a firestick. The bedroom is well appointed with a comfortable king size bed, dresser and closet for your belongings.

The space
Our residence when we are in Bardstown has many upscale touches and includes a great number of amenities not normally found even in hotels.

The Large Great Room has an oversized reclining couch and love seat, plus a reading area with 2 Large Comfortable Reading Chairs. Plus a smart TV, DVD, and a great selection of DVDs and Books for your enjoyment.

The Master Bedroom Suite has a K/S, XL Bed, with an ensuite Bathroom.

The Great Room separates this and the LARGE BLUE GUEST ROOM with Q/S Bed & the Green and White Room with 2 XL Single Beds, plus the Red Bathroom.

There are many upscale touches including upscale linen, Calphalon Pot and Pans, and a full assortment of cooking dishes and appliances. Service and settings for at least 6 people. The Full-size Refrigerator Freezer, the upscale Electric Range & Oven (with convection setting) an oversized microwave above the Range, plus a new Dishwasher.

There are breakfast cereals organic flavored oatmeals, mini boxed breakfast cereals, coffee and tea (decaf & regular) some snacks, and a great many condiments in the refrigerator.

Kitchen-Aid drip coffee maker, French Press, and Cappuccino/Expresso Machine, A waffle iron, and waffle mix and syrup. We do not provide perishables as it is against the local laws.Blender, Toaster, Can Opener, Mix Master and Baking and Serving ware,

The home is Centrally A/C and Heated, with a newer unit. There is a separate Laundry Room with a Full-Size Washer and Dryer, and a large lot provides a great outdoor space with a Patio table and Chairs, plus a Propane BBQ unit, plus 2 lawn chairs.

There is a workspace on a corner desk in the Large Blue Guest Room.

Amid the rolling hills and charming towns, Bardstown has always stood out as one of the most festive. While it’s located in a slice of Central Kentucky best known for its distilleries, there’s, even more, to enjoy in and around this area in December. From rides on dinner trains accompanied by Santa and Mrs. Claus to the must-try tasting flights at stops along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, it couldn’t be easier to plan an exciting getaway in the Bluegrass State.

My Old Kentucky Dinner Train has been running since 1988 and offers a variety of themed rides across the countryside. During the holidays, the journeys get even merrier, and the train gets a new name. Dubbed the North Pole Express, the ride features Santa and Mrs. Claus, who greet riders before everyone settles into their seats for a three-course meal, hot cocoa, and a sing-along. In addition to providing photo ops, it’s an ideal place to watch snowy skies as you’re whisked through the landscape.

Christmas decorations hang on the fireplace in Bardstown Bourbon Company Kitchen & Their Fusion & Discovery Series keeps things interesting and ensures that glasses get filled with unexpected and memorable blends. Take a deep dive by joining one of the From Distillate to Barrel tours, which are guided by Certified Bourbon Stewards who lead visitors through tastings and barrel samplings. Prepare for plenty of thieving—extracting whiskey from a barrel for sampling. You can also book cocktail classes or blending-focused flights to allow for more hands-on experiences.

Maker’s Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, is another local favorite with Willets Bar a great dining place nearby, and Makers Mark has added an eating establishment which I hear is great. Each year, Star Hill Farm invites guests to see the property’s iconic red shutters, wreathed windows, and ribbon-clad historic buildings. The distillery has also been known to host popular after-dark candlelight tours featuring themed drinks and treats. If you can’t visit in person, you can find their whiskey-infused dessert and cocktail recipes available online.

Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto. Four Roses in Franklin towards Lexington is a great tour, Evan Williams is a family-run operation offering tastings alongside a museum teaching about the area’s past. It’s a destination for learning about the spirit and its development in Kentucky, with tasting rooms, an interactive gallery, and The 1935 Distillery Theater, which screens films about Heaven Hill and the whiskey business. And of c ourse there is Jim Beam off the #245 near the Bernheim Experimental Forest

With so much to see and do rest assured Avery House will offer the perfect cozy space to relax and reenergize! Although Avery House provides a fully functioning kitchen with brand new appliances, you may want to take a break from cooking to sample the many eateries nearby.

“The Bourbon Capital of the World” is home to 11 distilleries and in 2019 Bardstown became the newest Official Gateway sponsor to the world-famous Kentucky Bourbon Trail. This makes Bardstown the perfect choice for anyone who wishes to tour any of the historic distilleries (Maker’s Mark, Heaven Hill, Jim Beam, Four Roses, etc) and experience a taste of Southern hospitality.

Be sure to visit the highly regarded Civil War Museum and legendary “My Old Kentucky Home“ during your stay here. You could also enjoy a horse and carriage ride through town while here or a simple stroll to take in the many beautiful homes. If visiting during the summer months, “The Stephen Foster Musical” in the outdoor amphitheater is a must see. In early Fall Bardstown hosts a Craft Fair and of course the Bourbon Festival. Whether you are here for business or pleasure, the town offers plenty for everyone. Your stay at Avery House will just add to the charm and comfort of this picturesque small town. The property itself has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds. Both have smart T.V.s. There is one bathroom (tub/shower) between them and a small hallway. A hairdryer is stored in the bathroom closest. In the hallway there is a broom closet which has an iron, cleaning supplies, laundry basket. The living room opens up into the kitchen. It has a TV also and seating for 4. The kitchen should have everything you need, including a kettle, toaster, coffee pot and Keurig. There is also a full size washer and dryer.

Should guests need anything the host is a phone call away.

Upon entering Large Foyer w/ Formal Dining Room French doors leads you to the kitchen with modern appliances and a breakfast area adjacent to the Living room. Rounding out the space are two bedrooms with queen size beds, one bath with walk in shower, and utility room.

A Full Country Gourmet Breakfast is included each morning, served between 8-10am in the Formal Dining Room of the Manor. Complementary refreshments and beverages are available each evening. Bourbon Bar is open Thursday-Sunday (except in January and February), 5-10pm or based on interest-level of Guests (may determine closing earlier). Spa is available for therapeutic massage treatments - with advance notice. Couple's Massage is quite popular, priced at $185 for 2 simultaneous Massage Therapists for an hour session. 60 min. individual sessions are available as well for $95/hour.

Federal House Cottage has a gathering room for guests to share, featuring a kitchen area the includes table, chairs, mini-frig, microwave, beverage station, wine cooler, and plates, utensils, and glassware. There is also a deck with table and chairs overlooking a private back lawn. The property's park-like setting is nice to stroll with flower gardens and concrete sculptures as well as chairs for relaxing and yard games for enjoyment. The Manor is only a few steps from the Cottage, which is accessible for all guests on the property. Due to the Bourbon theme and onsite bar, the property is NOT suitable for children.
