-THE KITCHEN has is all brand new with a modern backsplash, butcher's block countertops, and stainless steel appliances including a gas oven range with an exhaust hood and built-in dishwasher. Stocked with coffee, tea selection, bottled water, and snacks.

-THE 2ND FLOOR includes 2 bedrooms with a hallway bath. A queen-sized bed in the primary bedroom with a full closet, and a full-sized bed in the second bedroom which has a walk-in closet with a make-up vanity area.

-THE BATHROOM has updated tile and a jacuzzi tub!

-THE 3RD BEDROOM is a converted basement bedroom with a queen-size bed, and TV.

-THE BACKYARD is secluded with high privacy fences and contains a deck that steps down to a flagstone patio with lounging furniture along with a brick patio and pergola with overhanging Edison bulbs and flowering scenery.

This Cape Cod style house has been owned by our family since it was built in 1938. While small compared to houses being built in Chester County now, it is quite comfortable in the winter, and in warmer weather the screen porch is the perfect place to relax.

The two bedrooms are on the second floor: the larger one has a queen-sized bed and the smaller one has a full or double bed.

There is a full bathroom with a tile shower on the second floor, and a small combined laundry room/half bath on the ground floor. The kitchen while compact is well suited to cooking with a gas range and is completely stocked with cookware and dishes.

The house is situated on a two acre property and is quite private. The driveway has room for two cars. There is a second house on the property with its own driveway, and several other houses clustered near by, with a historic Quaker meeting house across the road.

As you enter the house, you’ll see the kitchen, living room and dining room before you. Continue straight through the living room, and you’ll find the hallway with washer and dryer, bathroom and primary bedroom with a king bed.

From the living room, a tall step ladder will lead you to the loft where you’ll find two twin beds.

Our sofa also converts to a comfortable full size pull out and we are happy to provide additional linens for this sleeping space.

PLEASE NOTE: This home has a few steps along an uneven pathway to the front door, as well as a 9 ft. tall step ladder inside to reach the loft sleeping space. The loft does not have a door or a gate. Please take this into consideration before booking with children and/or anyone with mobility challenges.

Guest Access:
You will have a shared driveway with the owners, and although you overlook the owner's property on one side (about 25 feet away), you do have a separate private entrance and a view of the beautiful garden that separates you. You will be provided with a code to access entry via smart lock and are welcome to come and go at your leisure.

Quaint farmhouse built in the late 1800’s 1 mile from Longwood Gardens. 3 miles from downtown Kennett Square. My property is part of old Hamorton village which was the original neighborhood that housed the Longwood garden employees.

The space
The bedroom is on the second floor with plenty-of closet space. This room has an extra room with a small TV with Netflix at no extra cost. The bathroom is very spacious with a tub to shower in and a large countertop for your toiletries. Also there is an outdoor living space with flatscreen TV, fireplace, built in grill and refrigerator to relax and enjoy an evening beverage. Note I do have a house cat that would be in that house at the time of your visit.

The space
You will have private access to the entire upstairs except that a couple of bedrooms are closed and locked. Open plan living room/dining room/kitchen. Fully well-equipped kitchen with all the basics and more (selection of condiments, oils/vinegars, spices) Large bedroom with en suite bathroom which is down a hallway with privacy from the rest of the house. There is a separate unit with a separate entrance downstairs so your can sometimes hear light noise from below. When I live in the space, my short-haired dog is with me, so this wouldn't work for someone with a strong dog allergy, but overall everything will be clean and fresh for you.

There will always be two parking spots in front of the home, one being a handicapped spot. There is also free street parking all along the block! 🚙

Both beds upstairs, comfortably fit two people in each bed, and the bedroom downstairs comfortably fits a single person. The couch comfortably fits a single person as well, but can fit two kids if needed! The couch is not a pullout, just large and comfy 😃

The TVs in the living room and upstairs bedrooms are smart TVs- feel free to use any streaming services that are available!

Guest will have access to the entire house minus the bedroom in the basement. We are in the process of finishing up the downstairs space to be able to utilize it fully! Guests will still have access to the laundry room downstairs, but the bedroom door will remain locked While we continue with renovations.

This is a comfortable row home with electric artwork and decor among many other features:

-THE MAIN FLOOR is an open living/dining room with a 55 inch TV, built-in bookshelf, cozy modern furniture, and dining table.

-THE KITCHEN has is all brand new with a modern backsplash, butcher's block countertops, and stainless steel appliances including a gas oven range with an exhaust hood and built-in dishwasher. Stocked with coffee, tea selection, bottled water, and snacks.

-THE 2ND FLOOR includes 2 bedrooms with a hallway bath. A queen-sized bed in the primary bedroom with a full closet, and a full-sized bed in the second bedroom which has a walk-in closet with a make-up vanity area.

-THE BATHROOM has updated tile and a jacuzzi tub!

-THE 3RD BEDROOM is a converted basement bedroom with a queen-size bed, and TV.

The J. Pyle House, built in 1844, is in the National Historic District of Kennett Square, PA. We are right in the heart of walkable downtown Kennett Square and a quick 6 minute drive to Longwood Gardens.

The townhome has been lovingly restored to reflect its mid-19th century roots, while providing an updated, cozy place to relax while visiting our quaint town.

45 min to the PHL airport, 25 min to Wilmington, DE, 25 min to West Chester University, 6 min to Longwood Gardens 15 min to Winterthur

The space
Guests can park in the garage behind the house (1 spot in garage and 1 spot parallel in front of garage) and enter through the back gate, down the paver path onto the concrete patio to the back door. Alternatively, guests can park on the free 2 hr street parking out front except for street cleaning Friday mornings between 2-5 a.m and during special events or weather related closures.

There are Eufy smart locks on the front and back doors with keyless entry features.

There is a covered front patio overlooking State Street (our main street!), great for coffee and people watching, outfitted with two lounge chairs and a small table. The front door opens off the patio into an eclectic, cozy living room with a convertible futon sofa, two mid-century style armchairs and a vintage cobbler’s bench as a coffee table. There is a 55” smart Roku TV ready for your streaming services, as well as a few games including Jenga, Battleship, Scrabble, Monopoly, Guess Who?, Pick-Up-Stix, decks of cards and tons of books.

Walking through the living room you enter the dining room outfitted with four refinished vintage Cesca chairs, a modern table, sideboard and two spare dining chairs. There is a coat closet with spare umbrellas in the dining room as well.

Through the dining room is the bright kitchen featuring vintage inspired tile flooring, shaker cabinets and walnut butcher block countertops. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, plates, mugs, cutlery, cooking tools, spices, olive oil, Keurig coffee machine, k-cup coffee pods, tea, electric kettle, creamers, sugar, local honey, etc. There is also various bar ware including cocktail glasses and a martini shaker.

Exiting the kitchen through the back door there is a small concrete patio with a 2 burner Weber propane grill and grill tools. The fenced in backyard has four Adirondack chairs and a small fire pit. Firewood is available upon advance request.


On the second floor there is one queen bedroom and one king bedroom. The primary king bedroom features two closets, a Casper mattress, designer pillows, luxury cotton linens, a vintage rug, work area table and views of the new Kennett Library. The queen bedroom features a Zinus Green Tea foam mattress, luxury cotton linens, a dresser, side chair and a closet. Both bedrooms on this level have overhead ceiling fans. There is one shared bathroom on the second floor featuring an oversized single sink vanity, designer fixtures, a fully tiled walk-in shower, NATIVE shampoo, conditioner, body wash, designer hand soap, tissues, Cottonelle toilet paper and plenty of fluffy towels.

Please note-this is a historic home that has it's quirks! The stairs are steeper than that of a new build home.

On the third floor there are two standard size twin beds, luxury cotton linens, designer rugs, a desk, a youth air hockey table, a desk overlooking State Street and a closet. There is a small overhead ceiling fan on this level as well.

NO CATS ALLOWED (please! I have a severe cat allergy). Dogs OK with prior approval and an additional cleaning fee.
