- "Accommodated short stays. Lovely, old antique home. Close to a very vibrant and fun town as well as toursit attractions. Rooms were nicely appointed. Had difficulty getting someone to answer phone and not all calls returned. May have been busy with an event that weekend, but that is not good customer service. Breakfast was just good. Would stay again though. Priced appropriately" - "What a unique and lovely bed & breakfast. Love the charm of the building and the individuality of each of the guest rooms. Will definitely be back! "

Wild yet serene, the Lodge rests on a hillside adjacent to a 60+ acre wildlife haven with a pond and creek running through. Nestled in a forest near the scenic and historic Brandywine Valley, this retreat affords you all the accoutrements of a mountain lodge, yet is nearby to high-end shopping, historic sites, outstanding restaurants and nightlife in the boroughs of West Chester, Chadds Ford and Kennett Square...
Featured in 2018 Philadelphia Magazine, the Lodge has received accolades! Tom Bury (as seen on Restaurant Impossible and the Stone House Revival series on DIY Network) hosted his 2018 season wrap party here. Tom also built a bespoke king bed in the master suite with 100+ year old reclaimed wood... it is beautiful (and comfortable too).
Rivers Cuomo (lead singer of Weezer) also stayed at the Lodge -- twice during the 2019 Weezer Tour. Others, who wish to remain nameless, have called the Lodge a home away from home.
From the fully stocked professional chef's kitchen to the outdoor hot tub, relaxation and inspiration will be your companion at the Lodge. Enjoy your meals at the dining table in the Great Room with an amazing view of the forest, or al fresco on the deck or screened porch.
With 5 bedrooms (and a sixth private space with 2 twin beds and a full size futon) and 4.5 baths, including a massive master suite with jetted tub, walk in shower and heated marble floors, the Lodge will delight you.. The seclusion and privacy of the property will enhance your experience!
Rejuvenate in the outdoor hot tub and melt away your stress. A large outdoor deck allows for sunbathing and evening conversations around the gas fire pit, or build a bonfire in the second fire pit and eat some s'mores. There is also a third firepit on the screened in porch where you can relax and take in the nature around you, especially soothing while listeing to the rain, allowing you to enjoy a delicious meal at the spacious teak dining table.
Take a walk through the woods and commune with nature, where wildlife abounds, including red foxes, red-tailed hawks, groundhogs, white tailed deer, an occasional bald eagle and many other varieties of beautiful and interesting songbirds and woodpeckers.
For entertainment, there are many options:
...The Lounge has an antique pool table, dart board, large fireplace and many classic board games to while away the time.
...The Library is full of antique and contemporary books, many of which are focused on the US Civil War and other topics of American History.
...The Game Room has a ping pong table, an air hockey table, a foosball table and the requisite xBox One for the kids (or kids at heart!).
Check out the listing details for all the amenities.
The Lodge is perfect for more intimate events for up to 50 guests: a family reunion, a murder mystery party, birthday or holiday event. (please inquire for any events as addition fees may apply). If you have an event with more than 50 guests, we are excited to partner with a Michelin star chef (former executive chef at the Waldorf Astoira Hotel) to accommodate your needs. Chef Paul is able to host large events including weddings of up to 100 plus guests, at his beautiful barn in Chester County (please inquire). Chef is also available to design a bespoke menu for you and your guests, and will be your personal chef at the Lodge for smaller occasions of up to 50 guests. Please inquire about any events at the Barn or the Lodge, additional fees will apply. Also upon request we are partnered with an interior designer who will craft beautiful custom floral arrangements, per your desires, at an additional charge.
There is ample parking for up to 10 cars in the driveway near the house. Any additional parking needs during an event will be discussed.
Early check-in may be available for additional fees -- $400 after noon and $200 after 2pm - please inquire about availability. Early check in fees depend on time of check-in and availability. Please inquire prior to check-in.
Late check out is also available for additional fees - $200 until 1pm and $500 until 4pm. Please inquire prior to check-in.
The Lodge is idyllic during a snowstorm with a warm fire, while the autumn leaves changing color add to the beauty of the seasons. Spring brings new growth and late June and early July bring the harvest of the wild raspberries, always a delicious treat!
Plenty of space to get away from the outside world. Stay, relax, rejuvenate....celebrate and enjoy!
Looking forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon at the Lodge!
- "Loved our stay at The Lodge! We had five families come together for one large extended family weekend for a lacrosse tournament and the Lodge was the perfect location for it. Plenty of activities in the game room for kids young and old (air hockey, ping pong, foosball). The property itself feels like a nature retreat, lots of birds and deer to watch and the house has a fun eclectic retro feel. The giant kitchen made family meals a breeze. We highly recommend!"

- "The Loft is so thoughtfully designed, and so beautifully appointed. We especially appreciated the well-appointed Kitchen. Rick is a wonderful host." - "We had a great stay for five days in July. The place was very inviting and we loved the time spent here. We highly recommend the place." - "Very well designed and maintained" - "The Loft is beautifully designed, with efficient use of open space, contemporary interior design and appliances, and lots of light, from both windows (screened and easily opened) and ceiling lighting. The windows looked out on the large yard,, an open meadow on one side and trees, in autumn colors, on the other three. As an introvert, I was pleased with the privacy, but equally pleased with the recommendations, directions, and overall offer of assistance as needed. I also appreciated the basket of snacks as well as staples provided by the owners, the clarity and simplicity of checkout procedures, and the quality of bath products. (Love the orange glass arrangement in the bath!) The Loft rates among my top 2 or three rentals, and I would stay again if I'm ever in the area again. P.S. An earlier reviewer mentioned the stairs. I'm 70 and had no problem, but for those my age, I would say several small bags rather than one oversize bag would be more manageable."

Whole House with one car detached garage
- "The house is older but renovations have modernized the kitchen and baths while retaining the unique character of the original structure. We really enjoyed the outside back patio space for visiting and access to the garage. Family members (5 of us) ranged in age from 65-75 and luckily we are all in great physical shape because the stairs heading up to the bedrooms could be a bit challenging. We enjoyed the kitchen layout, lighting, and the quality of the cooking gear but as others have pointed out some basics are lacking like a colander and a vegetable peeler. We brought our own coffee maker along because there is only one of those pod contraptions at the house. The only negatives were the lack of hand towels and washcloths for the bathrooms (there was only one of each) and the sofa bed mattress could use an upgrade. We also could not open any of the windows as they were stuck shut. Maybe that was good thing because the weekend student partyers walking by at 3 a.m. did wake up folks sleeping in the front bedroom. Overall, a positive experience and appreciated the prompt communications with Derek to answer questions."

- "My new husband and I asked our closest friends to join us at this house for the day and night after our wedding. Months before our stay, Vicki, the property manager agreed to give us a tour of the property and gave us loads of details about the building's history. During our stay, we enjoyed the house for it's excellent, unique indoor and outdoor decor and amenities. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the cookware/tableware you could want and all the appliances work. Each room in the house is adorable, cozy, and themed. The upstairs bedrooms are arranged in a little bit of a maze but this only adds to the fun, whimsical vibes of the house. The backyard is perfect for lounging, yard games, and bonfire relaxation. My husband and I are already considering occasions when we might be able to come back for another stay with more friends and family. 5 stars all around, we wish we could've stayed longer!"

Great for relaxing: cozy, comfortable, 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment located in downtown West Chester, Pa. Close driving/ walking distance to local restaurants, bars, stores, and less than 1 mile away from the university; it is the perfect area to explore. Keep your mind at ease in plush queen size bed or enjoy a quiet evening browsing Netflix on a Roku smart TV. Help yourself to coffee, cookware, and a full size air mattress in closet. Check in process is as followed. Upon arrival you will be given instructions to access call box to be buzzed in. You will then be directed to the unit where you will be given a access code to enter. There will be a key with fob that will give you access to both entrances. There are three parking options, two in which are paid one is free. There is metered parking in front of unit, nearby garage parking for $10 a day. The last option is street parking on intersecting block( direction will be given to access all three options).
- "This was like booking a hotel room in a city. Check in was a little tricky in that you have to pull up in front of building, unload stuff, take up to apartment (3rd floor), use code to open door, get key to front door of building (which we could never get to work), pick up parking pass, leave belongings, return to car and move it to parking garage a block away and then walk back. All of which we had to do in the rain unfortunately. This was stated (a little less clear) in the listing, I just didn’t realize it was to this extent. Apartment was clean. The couch is NOT suitable for sleeping as there is a large window to the atrium that is very bright and you can hear people coming and going all night. The bedroom is in the back and was very quiet. I needed something to write with while I was there and couldn’t find anything. That would be my only suggestion- pen and paper. Would stay again as it was a great centrally located place. Contact person was easy to reach, friendly and very helpful."

- "The house was very clean and well decorated with attention to comfort. The neighborhood was quiet and easily accessible to both Exton and West Chester. We enjoyed our extended stay very much." - "We stayed the weekend in this location and found the proximity to West Chester’s main area to be the highlight of the property. It was a very simple 8-10 minute Uber ride in, so that was very convenient when you don’t want to be driving. The house itself was clean, comfortable, and has all of the amenities you need. I was a little put off initially when the property management asked for names of all who would be there, and I found some of the fees that they list in the welcome packet to be outrageous. However, we experienced no issues, and I’d recommend this property to others looking to stay in and around West Chester."
