The only negative is that the house is near a popular pub on one side and the parking on the other. We have heard a lot screaming, yelling and puking. So bring good earplugs. Negatives: in all the Orkney islands there is likely no more happening spot than Skippers Bar, and Ivy House is right next door. Stomping feet, music, talking, yelling, fighting...we heard them all...for hours on end...literally right outside our bedroom window...on all three nights of our stay. Miserable! The house is also a fish bowl; you cannot open windows without people peering inside. Inexplicably, the window nearest the bedroom/bathroom passage had no covering whatsoever. Lastly, while the flat was generally clean, the fridge and microwave were dirty, we had to clean many of the dishes we pulled from the cupboards, one nightstand lamp did not work (even with a new bulb), overhead lights had no shades, broken tiles on the hearth, and the kitchen faucet leaked badly. Certain items are definitely being neglected in this apartment. Overall not a great experience."
