There was ample parking on the street, and taxis were easily and readily accessible. Everything in Lerwick is pretty well within walking distance anyway. Downtown, on Commercial Street (Da Street), down by the harbour front, there are plenty of shops and restaurants and even a beach (Bains Beach), next to the Lodberrie featured in the TV series, Shetland. Shetland, itself was magical. This was my second trip, and I'll be back, as soon as possible. And, will definitely stay here again."

We could park for free on the street outside the apartment and the shops and restaurants were a five-minute walk. The apartment had all the facilities we needed, including a washer-dryer so we could wash clothes during the week. The only challenge we had was due to our levels of fitness - there are a few flights of stairs (and 35 steps) up to the St. Ninian’s apartment. However this was very much our problem, and it won’t be an issue for younger or more fit people. On the plus side, since the apartment is built into the roof, we had big windows in every room overlooking the town, and the air and light was wonderful. We would definitely visit again."

Welcome to 14 Excelsior Place, a beautifully appointed one bedroom penthouse apartment with breathtaking views eastwards over Lerwick Harbour and, to the South, over Fort Charlotte and towards Lerwick Town Hall, both iconic Lerwick landmarks. Situated in the heart of Lerwick town centre the apartment is 100m away from Commercial Street, the main commercial area of town, running parallel to the harbour front with many independent, locally owned shops and eating establishments to explore. If exploring further afield, the Viking Bus Station is also 100m from the apartment, from where public service buses will take you on journeys the length and breadth of Shetland.
Accommodation consists of one double bedroom enjoying views southwards towards Fort Charlotte and Lerwick Town Hall, a light and airy open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area with floor to ceiling windows offering spectacular views eastwards over Lerwick Harbour and across the town. Enjoy a coffee or a meal as you watch ships, ferries and cruise liners at work or at anchor in the harbour as the morning sun floods the apartment. A very central and fully refurbished apartment on the first floor, built in 1871 and tastefully modernised but still keeping its cosy atmosphere. Situated in the old part of town close to all town centre amenities, 300m to pubs, shops, restaurants etc. Private off road parking and secluded entrance. There is a garden that guests are welcome to use. Fully equipped with everything you need including wifi and Netflix for chill time.

Cosy and unique, an apartment with lots character and personal touches, an old stone built building with a modern interior but still retaining it's old relaxed feel. Close to commercial street and central to most of the things you want to do in lerwick. 300m to shop, pub and restaurant There is an outside space to use and a garden shed that can be used for outdoor gear etc.

Hansel: a gift. This charming Victorian cottage, built around 1860 by a local merchant, offers very comfortable accommodation in a quiet, central location in Lerwick. Situated in a secluded lane, the cottage provides a snug hideaway. Radiators are powered by the Lerwick District Heating Scheme where waste is burned to produce hot water piped around the town. An environmentally-friendly heat source, reducing landfill and using heat from the incinerator to provide heating for homes, school etc.

Named Leirvik (muddy bay) by the Vikings, the town dates from the 17th century and is Shetland’s capital. It is a lively town with lots to see and do, all within walking distance of Hansel Cottage.
Breiwick Bay is just 2 minutes’ walk from Hansel Cottage. Here you can take a walk into the historic town centre around the Knab promontory with its practice golf course and walled clifftop path. The route affords fantastic views west over the town and south towards Mousa and passes torpedo tubes from WWII guarding the harbour entrance. As you enter the “south end”, with its iconic lodberries (houses and landing stages built out into the sea by Lerwick’s first merchants), look out for the lodberry that became the fictional home of Detective Jimmy Perez in the TV drama, Shetland.
Other things to note
If you come to Shetland for Up Helly Aa in January, Hansel Cottage stands in a prime position to view the impressive “light up” and to follow the procession down through the streets. The Galley sits at the end of the Hillhead next to Clairmont Place and the “guizers” gather there from early evening.

Quiet and peaceful, yet with shops, restaurants, bars and waterfront only a couple of minutes walk away. There is free parking nearby.

Ideal for couples or a small family although as the property is set over 3 levels with steep stairs it's unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues or very young children. Newly redecorated and refurbished. There is an open fire in sitting room with wood and peat provided. There is a well equipped kitchen with tea (including herbal teas) coffee, biscuits and milk in the fridge. In the utility room you will find a washing machine, iron and ironing board. The toiletries in bathroom and upstairs toilet are from the Shetland soap company.
Other things to note
We aim to be as flexible as possible regarding check in and out times. After what can be an arduous journey on the overnight ferry, it will usually be possible to access Number 5 on disembarking. At the end of your stay you are welcome to stay in the property until 4pm before departing.

There are open views up to Lerwick Town Hall and County Buildings. It is close to all amenities and an ideal base from which to explore Shetland. My flat is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with children). Level access from the rear. Overnight private parking.

We want every guest to enjoy their stay at Nort Bode Apartments. It is a condition of your stay that consideration is given to all guests and the quality of their stay. It is not acceptable to make excessive noise or participate in anti-social behaviour. We also expect the same curtesy to our staff at Nort Bode, no form of abuse will be tolerated. We reserve the right to terminate any booking associated with any form of disruptive behaviour.
Our apartments are not available for social gatherings or parties and are not be used as such. Each apartment has a maximum occupancy level as shown on our website. The maximum occupancy is the maximum number of persons the apartment is designed to accommodate.
Occasionally problems are identified at our premises resulting from general wear and tear. Should this happen please inform us as soon as possible so we can make repairs, and source replacements. We will do our best to resolve such problems as quickly as possible.
Nort Bode Apartments may request the immediate removal from the premises of all persons who do not comply with our conditions of occupation. In such an event the accommodation charge will not be refunded.
Nort Bode management reserves the right of access to any apartment at all reasonable times for the purpose of routine servicing, inspection and repair. Right of access to any apartment may be exercised at any time in the case of emergency and where it is necessary for the immediate inspection of damage to the property.
Apartments are available from 3pm on the day of arrival and apartments must be vacated by 10am on the day of departure, unless otherwise sanctioned at the discretion of the Property Manager. Failure to vacate your apartment at the check-out time may incur additional charges.
No guest shall have power to assign sublet or share possession of any apartment during or after the contract period of occupancy or otherwise.
Guests shall be liable for all breakages and damage that may occur during their stay. Minor breakages or damage, such as a broken glass, may be waivered at the discretion of the management.

Nort Bode Apartments have a strict no pet policy.
GUIDE AND ASSISTANCE DOGS.
Guide and assist dogs are welcome but pre-arrival notification is required, consideration has to be made for the wellbeing of staff and other guests, who may have allergies. There are apartments which are better suited to assistance dogs, which we will try to make available. We reserve the right to ask for proof to ensure the dog is a trained genuine assistance dog.
