The Patillo Home, built around 1846 and used primarily for rental property, was named after Trenton A. Patillo, a pioneer lawyer, county judge, and co-founder of the Texas Republican. According to early deed and probate records, the site of the Patillo House was part of the Richardson Addition, one of the oldest sections of Marshall, and owned by Mrs. Lavenia Richardson.
Colonial William S. Richardson came from Alabama to Bastrop County, Texas in 1840, and then moved to Marshall with his family in 1842. After he died in 1850, Col. Richardson left his wife Lavenia with one grown son and four daughters. In 1859, when she was unable to secure sufficient funds to meet the bond requirements for the guardianship of her minor children, Trenton A. Patillo was appointed by the Country Court as guardian of the estates of Frances A. and Emily V. Richardson. Eventually Lavenia had to mortgage her homestead and other properties to Mr. Patillo, although she never lost the title to the original 5 acre purchased two of the lots between North Washington Avenue and the Marshall Cemetery on April 18, 1877, from their mother's estate. The Patillo House occupies the south half of this property, while a frame house of identical design occupies the north half. But according to public records, the sisters lived in neither of these houses. After the death of her sister, Mrs. Sanders moved to El Paso and sold her home and the remaining lots of the original 5 acre plot. Although a complete abstract exists on Outlot 27, N-E, it does not show conclusively whether the Patillo House was built by the Richardson sisters or by the subsequent owner, William Hugh Lane. William Hugh Lane, from an Irish immigrant family, came to Harrison County where he established a law practice with Isaac Van Zandt and Judge William B. Ochiltree. According to Deed Records, William Lane purchased the property from J.E. Davis. (Harrison County Deed Records, Vol. 49, Pg. 44, filed May 17, 1902). The Patillo house represents the change that took place in the neighborhood adjacent to the railroad yards after the construction of the Texas and Pacific shops in the early 1970's. In 1963, Commander Hobart Key, Jr USNR acquired all of Out-lot 27 from Bertha Davis, the widowed wife of J.E. Davis. (Harrison County Deed Records, Vol. 587, Pg. 86, filed June 18, 1963.) The Patillo House is the third Texas Medallion structure to be preserved by Mr. Key, who also owned the Ginocchio Hotel and the Key Log Cabin. The Key family came to East Texas in the 1840's, thirty-seven years after their relative Francis Scott Key, wrote the "Star-Spangled Banner." When Mr. Key purchased the Patillo Home he restored it to its original state. The home staid in the Key family until Thomas Fisher Key and Richard Garrett Key sold it to Wayne and Michelle Fontenot in 2000. (Harrison County Deed Records, Vol. 2146, Pg. 43, filed September 22, 2000.)The Fontenots sold the structure to the current owners Lee H. Hardy Jr. and his wife Carolyn H. in 2003. (Harrison County Deed Records, Vol. 2604, Pg. 139, filed April 14, 2003). It is interesting to note that when the Patillo Home was built, very few people in Marshall lived in brick homes. As late as 1894, it was the only brick residence on North Bolivar Street, according to the Sanborn-Perris Insurance Maps.

In this new-normal era of social distancing, we want you to still have connections to your loved ones and your favorite entertainment. So we have provided WiFi internet and mounted smart TVs in each bedroom. So bring your Netflix or Hulu password and stay in touch with your world.

Book this entire house for your next trip to Marshall. You will find that this homey 3-bedroom 1.5 bath place was designed with your comfort in mind. We tried to provide all the necessities as well as a few luxuries for your enjoyment. And if you need anything, Marshall is so small you can get almost anywhere in town within 10-15 minutes. Welcome to the Piney Woods.

This is my 2-story brick house. You will find that the lower level houses the living and dining rooms, sitting room, half-bath, full kitchen and laundry/office. It is easy to get a good night's rest upstairs as the upper level has three comfortably furnished bedrooms. Choose from two queen-sized beds and one king-sized bed. For additional sleeping space, the couch pulls out into a full bed. Featuring hardwood floors throughout, the home has separate thermostats for the living areas downstairs and the sleeping areas upstairs. The upstairs thermostat is located in the largest bedroom adjacent to the full bathroom. The downstairs thermostat is located in the living room, just adjacent to the bookshelf.

For your convenience we have provided High speed wifi, Smart TVs in each bedroom and the living area, a full-sized washer and dryer and stainless steel kitchen appliances. Kitchenware, towels, sheets, bathroom, paper towels, detergent, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are all provided for you.

There is off-road parking for two vehicles. Additional cars can park on the road. You have access to the entire house, with the exception of the garage which we are using for storage. We provide a hair dryer and iron, and a built-in ironing board is ingeniously stored in a laundry closet that is original to the home.

While you are here, this is your home. I will not be on the premises, however I am available by cellphone. Should you need anything, please do not hesitate to call me. My home is located in a peaceful residential neighborhood with mature trees and quaint homes. The neighbors will be happy to meet you and get to know you. Like in many small towns, Marshall residents are hospitable and kind once they get to know you. Introduce yourself and you might get invited in for a cup of coffee or a soda.

Although there are no sidewalks, the streets are not busy, so neighbors take leisurely walks quite commonly. On a nice afternoon, it is not surprising to see several families walking or riding bikes through the streets. You will need a car in Marshall, as there is not a great public transit system. Cycling as a form of transportation may not be very safe, as there are no bike lanes. And I love walking in the neighborhood, both because there is little traffic, and also because you may run in to some of our friendly neighbors. There are several options for getting to Marshall. The Amtrak train has a depot in Marshall, located at 800 North Washington St. This information is accurate when I last checked, but you should verify times and prices when you plan your trip. As of the time I am writing, the train is scheduled to depart towards Longview and Dallas once everyday at 7:50AM. The fare to Dallas is $25 one way and takes approximately 3hrs and 40 minutes. The return trip is scheduled to leave Dallas' Union station at 3:40 PM daily and arrive in Marshall at 7:01PM. It is also possible to get to Marshall by Greyhound bus once daily. It is located at 304 Interstate Hwy 20 E. If you wish to fly to Marshall, you can take a convenient flight to Longview (GGG) or Tyler (TYR), TX or to Shreveport (SHV), LA. These regional airports are about 30 -50 minutes away, with Longview being closest. The last time I checked, American, Delta, Allegiant and United Airlines flew to Shreveport. Only American airlines flies to Tyler. And it appears that American is also the most popular airline to Longview. The local hospital is within 7 minutes walking distance. The local courthouse and square are within 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive. Wiley College, East Texas Baptist University and Texas Community College are all a short drive away.
Caddo Lake State Park and other state parks are less than an hour away, and afford a wonderful day trip for boating, fishing, hiking, or just relaxing in the Piney Woods. In the Christmas season, enjoy the iconic Wonderland of Lights festival, complete with Santa's workshop, Ice Skating, Clydesdale Horses, festive music and of course, the dazzling Christmas Lights. Remember all of the bedrooms are upstairs, so if you have mobility issues, this needs to be kept in mind.

We have taken the extra step of ensuring that our Clean Team disinfects all frequenty touched surfaces, including doornobs, light switches, and handles. And all hard surfaces are also deep cleaned to kill 99.9% of germs. Our home is professionally cleaned and disinfected after each guest checks out, so you can rest assured that every effort has been made to assure safety.

Vanessa also went above and beyond with a request I had made involving the TV (I was trying to purchase a pay-per-view event), although when I called her she was unable to help, she would later call me to let me know she found a solution and I was able to enjoy the event in time. Her efforts to help her guest really enjoy their stays and provide beyond what is expected is commendable and makes her a great host! I would definitely recommend a stay here and will be looking forward to staying here in my future visits to Marshall!"

Cozy, pet friendly 3 bedroom, 2 bath is perfect for a family getaway or a business trip. Wifi is provided and printer with dedicated workspace and a minimal amount of office supplies. Home has two covered porches to relax and enjoy the breezy mornings and evenings. Fenced in back yard for your fur babies. Roku television in living room. Cozy private room in nice neighborhood available for a minimum 3-night stay / discount applied for a 30-day stay. It has 1 queen size bed and shared bathroom. Just a few miles from most anywhere you'd like to shop as well as any kind of food you can imagine. I have friendly pets, a small terrier and 2 cats who share my home with me.

The space
My home was built in the 1940’s, a three bedroom, 1 bath, Living Room, Dining area, Kitchen and clothes washing area. Original hardwood floors and large bedrooms.
We are close to Downtown Marshall, 3 minute drive (20-30 minute walk). Close to grocery stores, restaurants, hospital, and down the road from our Marshall Mall. Just a few miles from most anywhere you'd like to shop as well as any kind of food you can imagine and a movie theater. A 30 minute or so drive to Shreveport Louisiana and all its attractions.

Guest access
Guest room is all yours. You may use any part of the house, with the exception of the master bedroom, and my work room. You have access to the kitchen and all its tools as long as you clean up after yourself. You are also welcome to use the washer and dryer. The backyard is available for your use, smoking outside or just chillin. You also have your own parking space aside the driveway.

During your stay
If booked I am easy to reach through the Airbnb app. Once booked I will provide you with my cell number as well. I’m available for a visit, and can provide you with any info I can regarding the events in town. If not, feel free to go about your business privately.

You may leave your used bath towels on the floor in the bathroom, I will pick up daily and wash them once a week or as needed.

Every 2 weeks of your stay, I will change and make your bed with fresh clean sheets. If you mind me coming into your room to provide this service, you have the option of using the house washer and dryer at any time.

We are 30 minutes walking distance from several places, the park, downtown, the mall, hospital, convenience stores, flower shop and some fast food restaurants. We are 30 minutes driving time from Longview and one hour from Tyler Zoo, 30-40 minutes from Shreveport Casinos, restaurants, shopping and the Boardwalk. 30 mins from Jefferson for antiquing, and Lake of the Pines for our famous Piney Woods. We also have East Texas Baptist University and Wiley College within 2 miles from us. Close to Greyhound and Amtrak Stations too!

This space is a charming 2- story with the only bathroom downstairs - separate from large airy upstairs bedroom.
You have in cottage - coffee, waters, chocolates and chips also oatmeal cookies or sm honey buns.
We are within a mile or 2 of several restaurants…. Downtown sports a brewery restaurant an Italian restaurant and a bakery
Nice upscale restaurants are in the same vicinity for night-time dining

Private country atmosphere in city located on 7 acres. Lots of large pine and oak trees, birds, and catch and release from onsite pond. Plenty of room for horse or boat trailers to park. 5 to 10 minutes from restaurants and stores if your not in mood to cook. Daily pet fee $10.00 per day per pet due check in 2pets. 30 lb. limit unless you talk with us first. NO CATS. You will need to provide animal crate if pet is left alone in cabin. After 10PM inquires will be answered the next morning

In the 1890’s Charles Ginocchio, owner of the Ginocchio Hotel and the Ginocchio home, had this home built by C. G. Lancaster for Emile Meyers, who operated a saloon in the hotel. Emile, an immigrant from Alsace-Lorraine continued to work at the hotel for many years. During the prohibition era, he converted the saloon into a soda fountain.

Enter through the iron gate and follow the long driveway to the back of the property. Reserved parking is in front of the garage and a cobble stone walkway will lead you to the double French door entry of the guest house. Follow the signs posted for ‘The Guest House at Pecan Grove Estate’.

A small hobby farm is visible from the guest house including beautiful Nubian goats, free range chickens and seasonally there are cows in the pasture along side the pond. Please keep gates closed so that the animals do not go into the guest house patio space. You are welcome to pet the animals over the patio fence but the pasture areas are private.

If you follow the stairs up the back deck, there is the private entrance to The Upper Room.

WELCOME TO IRA CORA EXPERIENCE BY @GOSWICKLANE

Enter your unique door code, press the check button and enter the threshold to your home away from home. It's open - Ah. Plenty of space in the living, dining and kitchen. It feels just right. Like you never left home. Except you did. The difference being that you don't have a nagging thought of dishes that are overflowing the sink.

Two steps in you glance to the left - Oh, it's me, you've been traveling since the early morning so it's been a minute since you've seen that good looking mug. As much as you want to toss your bags down, prop your feet up on the couch and throw your favorite show on the 65" TV, your interest in perusing the Ira Cora outweighs your tired feet. You quickly run to the bedrooms before your extra guest make it in the house. After all, you paid, which means you get to pick. Am I right or am I right? Hhmm, which one is the best? Which one will you pick?

Scurrying....
- 1st bedroom on the left - The high points: King bed, spacious, 2 night stands, ensuite bathroom - CA-YUTE (that's "cute" in Texan)
- 2nd bedroom on the left - King Bed, cozier room, that gold and dark style is nice, 2 nightstands
- 3rd bedroom (in the back) - 2 double beds, nightstand in the middle, full length lit mirror that you'll definitely use at some point.

DECISION MADE: 1st bedroom. The ensuite bathroom was the ticket. As you make your way back to it to drop your bags you glance in the guest bathroom on your left. You passed it on your right on the way to the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms but were in too much of a hurry to claim your domain. This time though, curiosity gets the best of you. You can manage a quick peak before your counterparts enter the Ira Cora. As you glance in, you notice a beautifully remodeled spot that is perfect for the rest of the family. The vanity is stunning, the tile work in the tub/shower is gorgeous and the wallpaper is on point.

You drop your bags by your bed and happen to check the closets. There's a roll away bed and now it makes sense why this place sleeps 9 instead of 8. You pitter patter back to the living/dining/kitchen area. Come to find out, your people have been in here the whole time. They did what you couldn't. Bags are piled in the entry way, feet propped up and TV is on. Kiddos already have the Xbox fired up checking to see if Fortnite is downloaded (it is - set up and ready to go).

You pass the couch noticing all the details of the living room: the big artwork, neat accent tables, sitting chairs, ottomans, lots of cool decorations etc. You think to yourself "There's a lot of great details here. The owners really had their guests in mind curating this place" To your left is the kitchen table for 6 with a bar and stools for an additional 4. You have the room if Grandma and Paw or friends want to have dinner with you. You continue on to the kitchen - it's an easy and natural flow. You notice things like the leathered granite countertops, gas stove, gold accents, coffee bar with espresso machine, accent wall, and a desk with a beautiful view of the back yard. "Wow" you think "I'll really be able to lock in and get some work done here". Hidden in the back of the kitchen is the laundry room with a door that closes so you don't have to be reminded when its time to wash clothes. As your closing the laundry room, you hear the kiddos scream "YES, LET'S GO!". They just found the headset that goes to the XBOX so they can talk with their friends on Fortnite. It's the little things. A quick peak in the cabinets and you realize all the pots, pans and accessories are here to cook up a great meal.

You scoot past the dining room table headed towards the back yard and notice a wood burning stove to your left - "How cool is that" you mumble. Your left hand reaches out, grabs the sliding door handle and clicks the button down to unlock paradise. The breeze gently washes over you as you hear wind chimes in the distance. Ah - Peaceful. You glance around the patio to see patio furniture, the outdoor Smart TV and a Weber gas grill behind you. The wood rack & firepit beckon you from a distance. Your mind drifts to daydreams of family S'more time later. A wiry looking tree peaks your curiousity (it's a fig tree - we are really hoping it produces this year for you). There are so many great spots but you decide that the patio is your spot for now. Your booty is on the way to the cushion when you realize you saw a bluetooth speaker sitting on the mantle inside by the TV. You quickly grab it, pour yourself a glass of wine, play your favorite tunes and plant your rear firmly in your happy place. Happy is a typically a mindset but today it's a location. The space
This is my 2-story brick house. You will find that the lower level houses the living and dining rooms, sitting room, half-bath, full kitchen and laundry/office. It is easy to get a good night's rest upstairs as the upper level has three comfortably furnished bedrooms. Choose from two queen-sized beds and one king-sized bed. For additional sleeping space, the couch pulls out into a full bed.

Featuring hardwood floors throughout, the home has separate thermostats for the living areas downstairs and the sleeping areas upstairs. The upstairs thermostat is located in the largest bedroom adjacent to the full bathroom. The downstairs thermostat is located in the living room, just adjacent to the bookshelf.

For your convenience we have provided High speed wifi, Smart TVs in each bedroom and the living area, a full-sized washer and dryer and stainless steel kitchen appliances.

Kitchenware, towels, sheets, bathroom, paper towels, detergent, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are all provided for you.

There is off-road parking for two vehicles. Additional cars can park on the road.

You have access to the entire house, with the exception of the garage which we are using for storage. We provide a hair dryer and iron, and a built-in ironing board is ingeniously stored in a laundry closet that is original to the home.

The local hospital is within 7 minutes walking distance. The local courthouse and square are within 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive.

Wiley College, East Texas Baptist University and Texas Community College are all a short drive away.

Caddo Lake State Park and other state parks are less than an hour away, and afford a wonderful day trip for boating, fishing, hiking, or just relaxing in the Piney Woods.


In the Christmas season, enjoy the iconic Wonderland of Lights festival, complete with Santa's workshop, Ice Skating, Clydesdale Horses, festive music and of course, the dazzling Christmas Lights.
