The space
The second floor has a large master bedroom, just renovated few months ago. It has a king bed, Japanese toilet, electronic showers and a tropical garden. The first floor has a second bedroom and a private office.

NEIGHBORHOOD

The house is located in a very desirable part of Norwalk (called West Norwalk) right behind Oakhill Park Golf Course with its popular restaurant CLUBHOUSE GRILL which has an unforgettable view of the golf course.

The main street (Connecticut Ave) with all stores (including 2 large grocery stores, more than affordable Patel Brothers store, pharmacies, Wal-Mart, Home Goods, even Costco, etc.) is right around the corner and same is true about I95 highway and 2 Train Stations.

In other words, the location of the house is convenient to everything, which was one of the reasons we bought it.

Historic Washington Street with its 5-star restaurants and tables on the walkway will make you feel like you are in Europe (5 min away from the house).

If you have children, don't forget to visit Children's Museum in Mathews Park with its all-season water activities and numerous events (5 min from the house).

And certainly visit grocery store Stew Leonard's which is also 5 min from the house. Indeed, if you don't have this store in your area, do yourselves a favor and check out on Stew. It has delicious meats, dairy, etc. as well as a buffet with a salad bar, soups and other delicious dishes, although Stew has never been just about the food: it is a special place with a country vibe and rustic wood as well as other country decor along with live animals outside and mechanicals toys inside the store and of course its famous Halloween rides to a spooky pavilion and a huge Christmas Tree in December.

Stew Leonard's has everything to make you feel you are on vacation. Have few scoops of freshly-made ice-cream or my favorite frozen yogurt, relax and forget about all your troubles and worries in this beloved more-than-a- store favorite hangout of so many adults and children.

If you are into beach (Who isn't?) then go to famous historic Calf Pasture Beach (which is a beach and park) and adjacent Shady Beach where you could picnic and grill. Enjoy swimming, sunbathing, playing volleyball or attend numerous evens hold on Calf Pasture Beach. The beach is about 10 min from the house.

If you like hiking, fishing, etc. you will certainly enjoy famous and one of a kind Mianus River Park which is 15 min away from the house.

If you are into shopping like your host, no need to go to NYC to shop (instead go to NYC for sightseeing), because Norwalk has just launched a huuuge shopping center SONO COLLECTION (5 min from the house) with the same high-end stores NYC has as well as many restaurants. You could spend a day in this shopping center and still may not have enough time to visit all stores.

Also, you could take a 5-min dirve and go to historic nautical village of Rowayton (although it is part of Norwalk, it is very different from the rest of the town), park your car and take a stroll among 17-18-century Victorians, attend Memorial Day Parade (unforgettable memory) and sample whipped cream with strawberries... or.... treat yourself to a free Shakespeare play (in late spring-beginning of summer) in Rowayton historic Pinkney Park (just bring a blanket)... or... visit this park to attend Farmer's Market, and listen to numerous summer bands... or.... play tennis at Rowayton Baily Beach... or go to famous Rowayton Seafood restaurant with gorgeous water views... you name it....

And don't forget to attend Norwalk famous Oyster Festival (Sept 6-8)

In short (unless it is too late for that :)), you could find in Norwalk so many things to make you happy and feel like you are on the best vacation whether you visit Norwalk for leisure or business.

And if Norwalk is still not enough for you :), visit upscale Westport where Paul Newman lived and started his career in a local theater (10 min from the house) or Stamford (10 min from the house), or go to famous Greenwich which has one of the most expensive zip codes in the U.S and where you could stumble on a celebrity anytime, and which is 15 min away from the house.

Norwalk-Stamford area were singled-out as the best places to live in the U.S. Come and see for yourselves! Explore Norwalk and surrounding towns! Well know authors Crockett Johnson and Ruth Krauss lived in this house from 1945 to 1973, where they wrote the books "Harold and the Purple Crayon" and "The Carrot Seed". They mentored and frequently hosted in the home their friend Maurice Sendak, author of "Where the Wild Things Are."

This past Friday, I spent the afternoon at Crockett Johnson’s house — 74 Rowayton Avenue (Rowayton, Connecticut), where he and Ruth Krauss lived from 1945 to 1973. Though I wrote their biography and had seen (and photographed) the house from the outside, I’d never been inside. I’ve seen all of their homes from the outside, but — hesitant to intrude on residents’ privacy — not actually been into the homes themselves. Since I was in town to give a talk that evening, Gil and Kim Kernan (the current owners) kindly invited me to spend some time in their home. My visit was one of the happiest events occasioned by my Johnson-Krauss biography.

Enjoy the privacy of the entire house consisting of 3 rooms upstairs: 2 clean bedrooms with closets. The 3rd room has a desk and a queen sleeper sofabed/couch, the pullout bed will be made up upon request or will remain a sofa. Downstairs has a living room, kitchen and eat in dining area. Theres an enclosed porch with a sectional couch which provides a descent amount of seating. Outside has a spacious deck with a grill overlooking a large fenced in yard with a fire pit. Also enough parking space for 3 cars between the driveway and street.

A 5 min walk to Pinkney Park/Town or a 5 min bike ride to Bayley Beach.

Village Creek itself boasts a private beach and dock, 2 tennis courts, a basket ball practice area, and a wide open grassy park area for running, jumping or ball games. There are swings and a jungle gym. Brand new outdoor pickleball courts are 5 mins away with daily Open Play! More indoor courts opening in South Norwalk this winter!! This wonderful haven is about an hour by train to NYC and only 5 minutes from the house to the Station. By road it is easily reached on I95 or Route 15 (The Merritt). Village Creek is 8 minutes from the great dining, cinemas, and museums of downtown South Norwalk; 10 minutes from charming Rowayton, and about 15-20 minutes from the sophistication of Darien or Westport; Greenwich, Stamford, New Canaan are all nearby with excellent shopping and restaurants. The bedroom features a six-drawer dresser cabinet and an open hanging closet area, complete with a secure safe box for your valuables and extra blankets for your comfort. It also includes a hamper for dirty linens, an iron and ironing board, and a firm queen-sized bed with a memory foam topper and four pillows, with extras available for the sofa bed in the living room if needed. Additionally, there is an infrared light available for your convenience. Turning it on at night can promote relaxation, improve circulation, reduce inflammation and enhance overall sleep quality, offering an extra touch of wellness to your stay.

Kitchenette:
The studio features a compact countertop kitchenette equipped with an electric stovetop and a selection of condiments for your convenience. The kitchen area includes a microwave, a coffee and tea bar with a hot chocolate option, a small sink, as well as plates, pots, and pans for light cooking. Equipped with a convenient 2-in-1 washer and dryer for your use. We provide laundry detergent for our guests. Cleaning supplies are available underneath the kitchen sink or in the closet past the workstation area, where you’ll find a broom, Swiffer mop, toilet paper, extra towels, and other essentials. For your safety, a fire extinguisher is located under the kitchen sink and in the closet area as well. Please leave all towels and robes in hamper for cleaning team.
