This beautiful caboose, built in September1955, has been completely restored/renovated with its own private driveway, and perched on a bluff in Tehachapi overlooking the train tracks at Cable. Outside you will find a large wrap around porch to enjoy the 180-degree view of The Eastern Sierras, up to 40 freight trains per day winding their way through the canyon below and gorgeous sunrise/sunsets along with the abundance of wildlife. Retrofitting the space outfitted with modern amenities such as a full size 1.75-bathroom, bedroom with queen size bed and kitchen outfitted with electric stove, microwave, oven and a large refrigerator. Get away from it all on our 2-1/2-acre hobby farm and vineyard in Tehachapi, California. Enjoy clean mountain air, happy farm animals, gorgeous starry nights and peaceful evenings relaxing in the cool evening air.

Our darling little travel trailer is newly remodeled and ready for your visit. There is a separate bedroom with queen size bed complete with a down comforter and beautiful linens. The trailer has heat and air conditioning, so you're covered no matter what the weather. It sits nestled in a quiet spot with its own deck and chiminea.

We are an active hobby farm with lots of farm animals including cows, goats, sheep, chickens, a mini donkey, barn cats and our friendly guardian dog Juliet. The safety of our guests and animals is of utmost importance to us, therefore, we ask that you please do not open or climb over any fences or gates. If you want to visit with our friendly animals, we'll be happy to introduce you and provide healthy snacks for them. Please do not feed them anything other than the snacks we provide.

We welcome your well behaved, potty-trained doggies and ask that for their safety and the safety of our animals that they remain on a leash and under your control when outside. We do charge a $40 pet fee, so if you wish to bring your pet, please be sure to select the "I'm traveling with a pet" option on the booking page inside the Travelers field. Please be sure to pick up after them. We also respectfully request that they not be allowed on the bed or furniture. If your sweet pooch has to be by your side at all times (and we understand that!), we can provide you with something to cover the furniture. Just let us know.

You will quickly see that this is a quiet and peaceful place. We request that you please follow our quiet hours of 9:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. If you're interested in helping with morning or evening chores let us know. We are always happy for the help!

To make your stay even lovelier, we have provided you with your own chiminea and Presto logs. There is a lighter in the kitchen drawer. Feel free to make a cozy little fire to enjoy. Before you start your fire, be sure to remove the lid from the top of the chiminea to allow air flow. Just be sure to extinguish all flames before calling it a night.

We also have an awesome outdoor fireplace and are known to get a good fire going on our cool evenings. If we are out there, you are welcome to join us. Just please don't start your own fire. Our upper patio, enormous farm table and pergola are available for your use. Enjoy them - just be ready to entertain a barn cat or two while you do.

We have a livestock guardian dog - our sweet Juliet - whose job it is to chase away any potential predators to our flock or unwelcome animal visitors that do damage to the farm. You may hear her barking at night. That's a sign that she's doing her job and keeping those bad guys away from our sweet animals.

Tehachapi offers wineries, brew pubs, hiking and biking trails, Native American history, train spotting, antique shopping, and much more. We're happy to provide recommendations of things to do. Just ask!

●The driveways (both ingress and egress) are long, curvy and steep. Anyone driving a motorhome or towing long trailers will need to check with me first for special instructions and permission to come up or go down.

●Weather and vehicle length both need to be considered before arriving due to possible hazards.

●Plenty of room to park at the bottom of the property, but there will be an extra fee of $28 will be collected if you decide to sleep in an RV or Trailer, please contact me for more details.

●The over night house price is for 10 guests only. With advanced permission it is $35 dollars extra per person. Events of any kind are extra as well. Please run them past me before renting the home.

●I also recommend to anyone placing a reservation to purchase travel insurance at the time of booking, in the case of a cancellation, due to either a personal emergency or major weather events and road closures.

To keep the new felt in pristine condition, we ask that no drinks or children be allowed on the pool table. Spills and accidents can cause damage (we speak from experience!). Thank you for helping us maintain the table for all guests to enjoy.

Fireplace Usage
Please do not use the indoor fireplace as it can cause smoke to fill the house. We appreciate your understanding and recommend enjoying the outdoor fireplace instead for a cozy evening by the fire.

Kitchen knives could be a tinge sharper and coffee mugs/some kitchenware could use an upgrade. We stayed during a weekend when the temp was in the 90s during the day, the heat upstairs was really felt at night. If you sleep in an air conditioned space, you may want to come during colder months. The downstairs was a non-issue and the basement was the coldest room. The pool was cold (that is statement, not a complaint), we were aware that the pool was not heated. The inside felt more like a cabin in the woods - not in the creepy way but in the what you would expect way; bugs, mosquitos, spiderwebs, patchy cell service, par internet, older appliances. All in all, this home reminded us so much of what life use to be like. It was simple and kinda amazing all in one. there were board games and lots of grass to play in. The breeze was nice. The graciously large wrap around porch served as "the place to be". Everyone in our group played in the grass, games, sports, tag, etc. There are grocery stores, restaurants, fast food places and hiking trails, all within a few minutes. Our group had an amazing time, the distance was really nice between our family members who are spread throughout California and Las Vegas. We would come back anytime (maybe in colder months; we would love to be welcomed back.)"

Welcome to our property! We are rated Superhosts on other sites, maintaining a 5 star rating!! Our goal is to provide you the absolute *BEST* experience here in Tehachapi!

This split wing floor plan features 4 bedrooms and 3 baths, and is very spacious. Entering through the front door is an open hallway that leads to a great room complete with formal dining which has a large dining room table that can comfortably seat 12, and a grand piano. Past the great room is an open kitchen / living room with a breakfast area. All counters throughout the house are granite, all appliances are stainless steel, and the kitchen comes with everything you need to make a fabulous meal.

The oversized master bedroom with Cal King bed and 60” TV leads into a bathroom with a walk-in shower, soaker tub, and dual sinks. All the linens and towels are freshly laundered and awaiting your arrival. There is also a second master suite with another Cal King bed, 46” TV, and private bathroom. The third and fourth bedrooms are on the opposite side of the house, allowing everyone to spread out and have plenty of privacy. There is also a washer and dryer for your laundry needs.

The backyard has a putting green, natural gas BBQ, play set for children, fire pit.

Tehachapi is called the “Land of Four Seasons” and less than 10 minutes from this home there is plenty to keep you busy. We highly recommend visiting one of our many award winning wineries for a wine tasting, or one of our family farms who sell their organic produce and free range eggs. Visit our Glider Airport and see how NASA pilots would come and learn how to land the Space Shuttle - you can even co-pilot a glider if you wanted! Mountain bike on our popular Lehigh Trails, or hike on the many trails in the Tehachapi Mountain Park. Walk our downtown and while you are there, stop at a beautiful park, or eat at one of our many locally owned and operated restaurants. Our German Bakery and Native American BBQ are both worth a visit. Also, depending on the season, you can catch other events including the Apple Festival, Tehachapi Gran Fondo, Calgonquin Ultra race and 4h of July Fireworks which provide fun for the whole family!

ADDITIONALLY:
If you are hiking the PCH trail and would like to be picked up and returned to the trailhead, we would be more than happy to come pick you up and drop you off!

Mountain Bikes are also available for rental at time of check-in.

A gym membership to our local gym is also available for purchase for the duration of your stay at check-in.
