The property is nicely furnished, well supplied, the perfect place for a quiet getaway. Our hosts kept in touch and were available for anything we might need (although we did not need anything that was not already there). Wrightwood is a quiet and friendly mountain community. Everywhere we went the people were friendly and helpful. My only caution about the property is that this may not be the best place for seniors with mobility or balance issues. The front steps and the shower/tub could present some challenges. With that understanding this is a warm and comfy place for a winter getaway. We will have to come back and try it out in the summer!"

The Moonlight Retreat is an 850 square foot property originally built in 1932 which has been lovingly restored and redecorated by the homeowner. Cozy on up next to the wood burning fireplace underneath the wood vaulted ceilings and enjoy the magical atmosphere that only the mountains can provide. The cabin offers a fully stocked kitchen for all of your cooking needs, a beautiful open concept bedroom, a closed-off bedroom, and a full bathroom.

The best part about this cabin is the large charming outdoor space. The entire property opens to an expansive side & front yard that provides great space for enjoying the mountain air. The back yard features an outdoor dining bistro set for 2 and a Jacuzzi.

Ideally suited and priced for two guests. We can accommodate up to four, but there is an additional $25 per person per night.

Kitchen: Two small sized refrigerators with small freezer compartments, gas range, gas oven, microwave, Keurig pod & drip coffee maker. Fully stocked with utensils, crock pot, cookware, and dishware. Our tap water is good for drinking, cooking, and everything else.

Dining Room: Located next to stairs in the main living room. Small sized table ideal for 2-4 guests.

Front Patio: Amazing space to overlook the large front yard & views.

The Moonlight Retreat is located in a small residential neighborhood with close by neighbors. Due to the terrain of the neighborhood, sound is easily carried. We ask that all guests please be respectful of our neighbors. Quiet time for the property is from 9 PM - 9 AM. Parties or loud activity will not be tolerated and will be subject to $1000 noise violation plus additional fines issued by San Bernardino County and termination of your stay.

The Location

The lodge is located one block from downtown Wrightwood and 4 miles from Mountain High Resort. The downtown area offers great eateries and entertainment, including local shops, a brewery, live music on select days, and a farmers market every Friday.

There is an abundance of gorgeous hiking trails perfect for either a quick stroll and a picnic, or more strenuous hikes to epic vistas overlooking the surrounding Angeles National Forest. For travelers looking to explore local Southern California the property is located only an hour and a half from the famous Southern California beaches. Where else can you ski and surf in the same day?!

Open the bottom panel of the wall heater and turn the green dial for increase in temperature (4-6 is a comfortable temperature) to the red line (or 11 o’clock position).
Please do not press any other buttons, as that will disable to system.
Keep the ceiling fans on low to move the hot air down from the ceiling for circulation throughout the cabin.

SNOW ETIQUETTE:
Chain control: 4x4 and All Wheel Drive vehicles must have mud and snow or snow tires and carry chains for access in snowy weather.

Parking and trespassing violations: Many locations on the mountain are private property and violators trespassing onto private property may be cited or arrested.

Trash: the public is reminded to take out what they bring in, including trash. Please if you pack it in, pack it out!

Weather hazards: Snow and rain increase hazardous driving conditions, so please exercise additional care when driving on slippery or iced over roadways.

- "Stayed there with my college-age daughter for a few nights and we both just loved it. Pictures are accurate - the decor and ambience is unique, cozy and beautifully done. Loved using the hot tub at night (even in August, it cooled down enough to get in!), having coffee and wine on the front deck area, and walking into town for dinner and the Friday Farmer's Market. We were welcomed with fresh flowers and apricots and other nice touches. Neighborhood was quiet, and I took a lot of walks. We also enjoyed the views at Inspiration Point, and ziplining. A great stay, and would love to come back again! Very memorable stay with my daughter."

Charming and cozy, this 100+ year old home captures the essence of the early 1900s California gold rush era . The local restaurant may be closed so make sure to bring your own groceries and drinking water. There are no grocery stores nearby (Ridgecrest is a 20 minute drive away, they have Albertsons, Super Walmart, Stater Brothers, etc). We will provide a Britta water filter.

THE SPACE:
This home is over 100 years old and some walls are still left that were built by the early miners. Some windows are original, the home is not well insulated but we provide heaters, warm blankets and a swamp cooler that will allow for comfortable stays. The shower is very small and our bathroom is not large. Staying in our Randsburg cabin does not offer all the luxuries of a 5 star resort, but with Temperpedic Beds, heat blankets, 2 flat screen tv’s with wifi, and crystal clear skies for star gazing, you’ll find our cabin comfy and the landscape unique. The early sunrises light up the expansive Sierras' with vibrant hues that are absolutely breathtaking. The best part of the Randsburg experience is the solitude and the distance from the hum of the electric cities! We welcome you to the "Wild West", where everything is slower, clearer, harder and more badass!

This living ghost-town comes alive on Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays while most other days you can expect the majority of the town shut down (except for the local bar which may or may not be open). However, stays during the week offer plenty of solitude and R&R.

THINGS TO KNOW about the property:
There are five large stairs to the bathroom and 3rd bedroom, and a door frame that is shorter than standard height. No bonfires are allowed. There are no railings on all patios and decks. Be mindful this is the Mojave desert and although never seen on our property we may have Mojave greens (Rattlesnakes). Also, watch out for the occasional cactus!

NEIGHBORHOOD DESCRIPTION:
Randsburg is a living ghost town with a rich history of the California gold rush. On the weekend, enjoy a slice of pizza and lunch at the Vault or a pulled pork quesadilla at the taco truck next to the “Joint”. Talk local folklore over a cold beer or shot of whiskey at the local bar, “The Joint”. Check website for hours.

This town is a dirt bikers haven surrounded by hundreds of miles of BLM trails (STAY on the trails)! The Main Street in Randsburg allows for ATV access, a stop along the way for the tired and dirty.

We are located right off the 395, a stopping point for travelers heading to Death Valley, Mammoth Lakes, Tahoe, Las Vegas, Big bear and Joshua tree.

You can park your vehicle on one side of my driveway, leaving the other for other guests. If the driveway is fully occupied, you can park on the opposite side of the street near the mailboxes. But do not block the mailboxes. There are two bathrooms in the house. The guests of the master bedroom have their own bathroom, and will not use the common bathroom. Kitchen use is limited as specified in the house rules.

During your stay
I may or may not stay in the house. There may or may not be any other guests in the house. You may be alone. But, the house is located in a safe, densely populated neighborhood. I am always available through texting on Airbnb.

My neighborhood is especially quiet and neighbors wave hello, but keep to themselves.

Families live further down the block, with nearest homes occupied by mature couples and family members. I enjoy the peace and safety here. Great night sky views and close to the freeway, restaurants and shopping.

The space
My home is considered a two bedroom, two bath house. In years previous, an owner converted a space in the garage into an additional room that includes the washer and dryer. This space is used for dual purpose. A bedroom and laundry space. It’s wonderful to be able to do laundry indoors during the hot desert summers and cold winters! There is no grass on my property, it’s more of a rock-scape! 😆 I don’t have green thumbs and that goes for all things chlorophyll! There is a nice covered backyard patio with a table to seat 6 and a couple’s swing to sit out at night and watch the stars or watch the satellites fly by.

This is my home and you would be reserving the bedroom with kitchen, living room and outdoor access.

Guests will have access to the Tranquil room, the house guest bathroom, the kitchen including appliances as needed (coffee pot, blender, oven, microwave, refrigerator). I ask that the guests do not use the dishwasher please. Space is provided in the refrigerator for any cold storage needs as well as space in the pantry for dried goods storage. Laundry room and laundry supplies are available, but just needs to be discussed to assure equitable schedules for all. (Applies more specifically to long term stays). You will receive the WiFi password to connect any devices that you need to utilize during your stay. No garage access. No driveway parking. Street parking only.
