An oasis from the hubbub in a small, quiet, and safe neighborhood within 10-20 minutes of all major hospitals and many medical office parks, Ft. Jackson military base, University of South Carolina (and 3 other colleges), as well as downtown. My house backs up to the woods for enjoying the deck in solitude. Full use of laundry room and kitchen. Grocery stores and all other shopping/services within a 5-minute drive. Easy access to I-20 and I-77.

The space
Mine is a one-level, 3-bedroom home. My bedroom and yours are on opposite sides of the house for total privacy. The kitchen, living room, and back deck are shared spaces. The house is one of the few in this quiet neighborhood that backs up to a large wooded area. Amazingly, mosquitoes are not a problem, and the hummingbirds plentiful. And yes, that's a clothesline in the backyard. 🙂 There is a gas grill that I don't use but you may.

I'll dedicate the first month's rent to purchasing a double bed for the rented room.

The gas fireplace in the living room does not put off heat but does make the room cozy. I have ceiling fans in every room and own both a portable ceramic heater and oscillating fan you may use if needed.

The main guest bedroom has a very comfortable queen bed, a closet with hangers, a clock radio, and a dresser. There is a ceiling fan, TV (we do not have cable, but we have an antenna and an Amazon Fire Stick), a 6-port USB charging station, a luggage rack, a desk/table and chair where you can sit and read or work on your computer. There is a small refrigerator in the closet stocked with water.

The private bathroom - which will only be used by you and others in your party - is just a few steps away and has fluffy towels, a hair dryer, and basic toiletries. If you've forgotten something, please check with me and I'll do my best to help.

The 2nd guest room (if you've paid to use it) has a king-size bed, dresser, closet with hangers and extra pillows, phone charging station, ceiling fan, writing table and chair, dresser, makeup mirror, a luggage rack, and TV with an Amazon fire stick. Extra pillows in the closet. There is a small refrigerator in the closet stocked with water.

The 3rd room has a very comfortable double/full bed with a bedside table, armoire, closet with hangers, and a full-length mirror on the back of the door. There's an ottoman at the foot of the bed to use for your suitcase or a place to sit to put your shoes on. There is a fan available in case you need some air movement as this bedroom does not have a ceiling fan.

All rooms have hooks to hang your wet towels. Please use them and not the furniture.

Please do not bring candles to burn in the rooms.

The pool is available when water temperatures allow (May-September, generally). This is our private pool, not a community pool. Swim at your own risk.

You are welcome to relax at the gazebo over the pond. Read a book or take in the peace.

I will be in touch with you 1-2 days before your arrival. I will send you a message via Airbnb. I would appreciate a confirmation reply from you. If I do not hear from you within 24 hours, I will text you using the phone number in your profile.

Proxy bookings: We do not allow proxy bookings. The person who will be staying here needs to have an Airbnb account and be making the reservation. Doing a proxy reservation for someone else violates Airbnb's terms of service.

Guest access
You are welcome to use our living room or dining room.

We ask that you use our dining room table to eat any meals. Please don't eat meals in the bedrooms.

During your stay
We will be available either in person or by phone at all times during your stay. We enjoy meeting and talking with all of our guests.

Other things to note
If you do not plan to arrive before 11:00pm on your check-in day, you must make arrangement with me prior to booking.

Some GPS systems will direct you past our home. Further instructions regarding location will be given one to two days prior to your arrival.

Although we have a keypad entry, I will personally meet you at the door (unless other arrangements have been made).

My place is conveniently located to I20 and I26, the Columbia International Airport, USC, Riverbanks Zoo, and Columbia Vista dining and nightlife. You’ll love my place because it is also privately located, nestled on half an acre with mature oaks and greenery with plenty of parking, a private bath and cozy bedroom featuring a fireplace and hardwood floors. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.

The space
The space is very quiet and private. There is plenty of parking and guests enter through a private entrance off the sunporch, which is bright, sunny, and relaxing. Guests are welcome to sit in the sunroom and enjoy the views of the yard, mature trees, and occasionally deer. The private entrance leads straight to the guest bedroom and bath. The bedroom has a queen size bed with soft linens and plenty of pillows. The bedroom also has a closet (that includes hangers, an iron, and an ironing board) and a large dresser with empty drawers, if you'd like to unpack your bag during your stay. There is a microwave, mini fridge, and Keurig coffee maker in the room for your convenience, and there are snacks and bottled waters ready for you when you arrive. The bedroom includes free Wi-Fi access and includes a 32 inch flat screen tv with access to Netflix and Hulu. The private bathroom is next to the bedroom, with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a hair dryer included.

Guest access
The home is nestled in a quiet, safe neighborhood approximately 5 minutes from the WeCo River District and 7 minutes from downtown Columbia. The homes were built in the 1950's and have large yards and mature trees. Many of the neighbors have lived in the homes for decades and take pride in caring for their homes and being neighborly. They are very friendly and wave to joggers, dog walkers, and bikers. It is a wonderful neighborhood to explore where you will enjoy hills, ponds, trees, and large river rocks.

During your stay
My work schedule varies, so sometimes I am home during the day and/or evenings, and sometimes I'm not. When I am at home, I'm happy to provide you with directions and recommendations to local sites, but generally I prefer to respect your privacy while you're visiting. I am always available by text. Also, I have three adult children and three adorable (but sometimes loud) grand daughters. They occasionally stop by to visit me. However, please be assured that we are all very respectful of your privacy and will do our very best not to disturb you. We want you to feel comfortable and relaxed in our home and around our family.

Other things to note
Please note that my house is home to Ellie (a 130 pound Newfie) and Boo (a typically curious house cat). They are both very friendly, but because your space is completely private, it’s likely you’ll only meet them occasionally if they’re outdoors when you come and go.

Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space. This unique place has a style all its own. Shared space. Common areas may be shared with host and second guest. Bathroom may be shared with second guest only.
