Tentrr Signature Site - Dahlonega Hideaway Farmstead Campsite
RV Rental
Dahlonega, Georgia, USA

Summary:
Dahlonega Hideaway Farmstead Campsite is conveniently located just under 10 miles from Downtown Dahlonega and only 14 miles from Downtown Gainesville. We are hidden away on the end of the road on a small 17 acre Farm. The farm houses horses, mini cows, goats, pot belly pigs, chickens and the hosts have two dogs that love to run around the property. The animals are allowed to roam free in the pastures so don't be surprised if you get a visitor that is curious or just wanted to say Hi. The campsite is located on the back side of the farm that is shaped like a big L. Vehicles are preferred to park at the horse stalls on the pavement where campers will be provided with a golf cart for their use and to transport gear as needed. Vehicles with 4x4 can request to park at the campsite for convenience. There are 12 acres of rolling pastures where the campsite is located and there is access to a small pond that is stocked full of bass and bream fish. There are plenty of recreational activities and great local wineries and venues to explore. There is an additional 4 person tent (a queen bed can be requested) that is onsite and can be setup for guests upon request. After 4 guests will incur additional charges. Clean bed sheets are provided.

Complimentary bottle of wine that we made (upon request)
Complimentary coffee (percolator onsite to use)
Complimentary farm fresh eggs (unwashed)
Complimentary bug spray

The Space:
Want to get away!? Come to Hideaway Farmstead Campsite located in Dahlonega Wine Country! Close to Helen, local wineries, and recreational activities.

Guest Access:
This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with land owners to offer unique accommodations in beautiful outdoor spaces. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature!

Your Tentrr campsite includes a 10'x12' (120 square feet) safari-style canvas tent on a raised wooden platform. Inside the tent you'll find one queen bed with a memory foam mattress. The tent is big enough for the bed plus one or two extra sleeping bags on the floor. Aside from the canvas tent, campers can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that’s provided. You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, and 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs.

Max Occupancy: This refers to the total number of campers allowed onsite with your reservation.

Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. To use, line the bucket with a CleanWaste Sani-Bag supplied at the camp prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. CleanWaste Sani-Bags use a NASA-developed gelling/deodorizing agent that helps prevent spills and keeps everyone safe and clean.

Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.

Other Things to Note:
Respect the campsite, the property, the owners, and the animals. We expect guests to clean up after themselves. Be mindful of the animals to avoid any harm to yourself and the animals. The pond is shared with the two houses in the back neighborhood. We own half the pond and request to be mindful and respectful of the other property owners side of the pond. Launching kayaks and fishing from the bank should only be done on our side of the pond. Fishing from kayak is allowed anywhere.

Interaction with Guests:
Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location.

If a Tentrr Host submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the host's property, Tentrr reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set!

Reservation Modifications/Cancellations: Please note the terms of the cancelation policy as they are outlined in your confirmation email. Your Tentrr Host is unable to change or cancel your reservation on your behalf, and they are unable to waive any cancellation fees (if applicable). If you have any questions regarding modifications to your booking, please reach out to Tentrr Customer Support.

Guest Reviews:

- "We had such a great time being able to disconnect and spend time in nature. The tent is just like the picture, and we had no issues sleeping through the night. We loved spending time with all of the farm animals and seeing our puppy roam free! We had great communication from our host and directions were clear. When we got to the property we were met with a golf cart for convenient transportation and farm fresh eggs which we had for breakfast the next day. The space was clean, so much fun and it really did us so good to “go off grid” for a few days!!"

Mountain View's Story...

After years of city life, native-born Georgians David and Regina decided it was time for a change. The mountains in the northern part of the state appealed to them (Regina saw mountains every day of her life growing up), but when the realtor took him to a small property between two tiny towns in the Blue Ridge range, David was a bit hesitant.

“We always lived in the metro area, and originally didn’t want to look that far out,” David tells me. “But when I walked up to that ridge (where the RV is now) and took in the view, I immediately pulled out my phone to write Regina a message.”

That text to his wife said, “This is it.”

***

“We fell in love with that piece of land before we even walked the property,” David says of their three acres. And now, just a few years later, they’re full-time Dahlonegans.

“We live just a couple of miles from town, on a peaceful mountain road, and we love it here. Being from the city as we are, Dahlonega is a ‘Hallmark town,’” David smiles. “It’s homey, locally owned, and has its own quaint and quiet personality.”

***

In the RV there is a roll of paper that guests use to leave notes and comments about their stay. David still has every single one. He gets the pile of unbleached papers out of the closet and reads some to me, pride and joy in his voice. The view and sunset are a common theme. “Thank you for the beautiful mountain escape,” reads one. “Peaceful, beautiful, spectacular!” is another. “Serene getaway, sunset amazing!” And my favorite, the exclamatory and simple, “S’mores! Hiking! Hospitality!”

It’s that hospitality piece that drives David and Regina. They love welcoming people to their adopted home, and the RV atop the ridge. When I made the mistake of calling it a “trailer,” David corrected me.

“Calling this a ‘trailer,’” he says, “is like calling The Hilton a Motel 6,” he laughs. “It’s spacious, comfortable, and clean. I mean, we keep it almost too clean — obsessively clean! And the kitchen… We had a legit chef stay there once, and you should have seen some of the feasts he whipped up in that kitchen. ‘Trailer!’” He chuckles.

***

When there are no guests staying in the “Hilltop Hilton,” David and Regina head up to the ridge around sunset time with their dogs (yes, they’re dog people, and would love to host yours, too, providing they’re on the smaller side — see The Small Print for details), light a fire in the stone pit, and open a bottle of local wine.

“We sit there, rocking on those big swings, listening to the wind chimes on the breeze. Sometimes we see local critters — deer, turkeys, coyotes, rabbits, ermine, even a black bear every once in a blue… It’s downright spectacular. Once full dark comes, you look up and there’s stars galore, and you can see the Milky Way.”

Spectacular, indeed.
