- "Just back from a wonderful weekend break at Tor Na Coille. Lovely large room, very comfortable. Everything was thought off, bathrobes, a good hairdryer, iron and ironing board. I loved the decor in the public rooms. Very tastefully done. The food was amazing we ending up having dinner here both nights. Breakfast was also great. Plenty choice and all cooked fresh to order. Kashentroch is warm and spacious with a dining room seating 12, a large sitting room leading to an outdoor seating area surrounded by woods and a smaller, comfy TV room with log burning fire. The well-equipped kitchen also has a large table for eating at. The bedrooms are all light and spacious, two of which have ensuite bathrooms and there are 2 further bathrooms and downstairs WC. One of the downstairs double bedrooms has a bed that is on chains so it gently swings like a hammock. It is wonderful to sleep in but not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The bar can be stocked by request. It has wood floors throughout and a wood pellet heating system making it cosy all year round. There is a large utility/boot room with washing machine and drier whilst outside there is access to a tennis court, squash court and extensive private grounds for outdoor games.

- "The accommodation suited our needs and for us the location was perfect as we needed rooms in Banchory. The villa's price was substantially discounted which meant that it provided good value, however at its initial cost it would, in my view, not have not done so. The woman who oversees the villa was clear, well-informed and outstandingly helpful in resolving the heating problem and letting us know the arrangements for the key collection.Things for the owner to consider. The carpets showed dirty stains (though the cleaning was outstanding), the toilet seat was broken in March and was still not replaced during our September visit. The stair banisters really need a lick of paint. Instructions for how to adjust the heating system are required."

Banchory is a superb base for a varied holiday with Crathes Castle and garden, and Castle Fraser both well worth a visit. Also boasting two golf courses in the town, there is a wider choice in the surrounding area with excellent hillwalking and skiing available in the Cairngorms just a short distance away. A short drive leads to Ballater, where Queen Victoria first arrived in Desside in 1848. Although the line has long since closed, visitors can still visit the elegant train station in the heart of the town centre. Ballater is also an excellent base for local walks and outdoor activities. A popular walk leads to Lochnagar, the much painted and written about mountain by the current Prince of Wales.

Balmoral is easily accessible for the day and the local distillery at Lochnagar is well worth a visit, with tours and tasting of the local malt available. For an alternative day out, Aberdeen - Scotland’s third largest city, is well worth a visit. Many of the parks have been transformed into ‘flower gardens’ and are some of the most beautiful in Britain. Our home has a cosy country charm, complete with a log-burning stove in the dining room, perfect for warming up after a day of exploring.

The fully equipped, modern kitchen allows you to prepare delicious meals with ease, making your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible.

Located in the beautiful Royal Deeside area, there is no shortage of activities and sights nearby. Nature enthusiasts can enjoy scenic hiking trails, while avid salmon fishers will find plenty of prime fishing spots in the Dee. During the winter months, nearby ski resorts offer fantastic opportunities for skiing and snowboarding.

We enjoyed the wood burning stove, but did shuffle the furniture a bit so we could all get round it. The third bedroom is the sitting room with a sofa bed, but this did not cramp us. Lots to see and do, and we loved getting reacquainted with Aberdeenshire. We used to live in Ballogie, but it looks a bit different now! Very happy to recommend this place to stay."

The spectacular Falls of Feugh are just over the road, a stunning part of the River Dee where salmon can be seen leaping up the apparently unscalable rocks, amidst an often raging torrent, compelled by instinct to return to their spawning grounds further up the river. In the autumn the river is often in spate and sitting in the living room you can listen to the sound of the falls while reading a book or enjoying a drink. Marvellous!

Drumhead Bothy is a wonderful cottage situated in the village of Finzean, near Aboyne, in Scotland. Hosting two bedrooms: one double with an en-suite shower room and one twin, sleeping a total of four people and served by a cloakroom. There is an open-plan living room with a kitchen, dining area and sitting area with a woodburning stove. We welcome a maximum of two dogs at the property. However, they should not be left unattended.
Outside has a small front patio area with furniture, as well as off-road parking. Drumhead Bothy is a lovely choice for a remote family break to Scotland.

The Bothy is super cute and was perfect for 4 adults for the week. Beds were comfy, the radiant heat was glorious, overall comfortable and cozy. With plentiful wildlife, you may encounter ospreys, otters, red squirrels and pine martens during a relaxing stroll. The seldom used owner accommodation is attached to the house but the gardens and grounds are all available to be enjoyed by guests at any time. A well stocked trout pond nearby is available for fishing by arrangement with the estate overseer.

Banchory, a bustling market town, is just a couple of miles away and has plenty of interesting shops and eateries as well as being the gateway to Royal Deeside. The area, a favourite haunt, first of royalty and ever since of tourists, has many delights to offer and makes an ideal base from which to explore castles, mountains and coastlines, all within an hour’s drive. Watch the salmon leap at the nearby Falls of Feugh, or visit Crathes and Drum Castle, just two of the many on the Castle Trail which winds its way through the area. A spectacular drive over the high pass of Cairn o’Mount will take you to the village of Fettercairn where there is one of the oldest whisky distilleries in Scotland. Slightly further afield is the delightful village of Ballater, Balmoral Castle (open most of the year to visitors) and skiing at the Lecht, only an hour’s drive. Quad biking, cycling, archery, horse riding and golf (two courses in Banchory itself) are all easily available and walking in the beautiful scenery (try Lochnagar and the Lairig Ghru) adds to the many outdoor activities available in abundance in this magical area.
