Kristopher K who checked us in was lovely, and he sent us a text to make sure we were happy with our room. A+ customer service. A few small cons: hvac sort of loud. I think this is because the style of this place is a lot of cement, exposed pipes, etc. This did not bother us because we like this sort of white noise when we sleep but some may not. We did find a few things to be a bit dusty in our room - lamps, tv remote, etc which was a little strange. I do wish they had smart TVs so you can pull up your streaming apps. We can't wait to return here on our next trip to Rhode Island."

In the welcome email they tell you they are not responsible for injuries and quiet time is at 9pm. 9pm is when the upstairs apartment will start to stomp, scream and move furniture until they fall asleep. The water pressure is very low. There is a film of sticky something on all hard surfaces. Even if you follow the rules the owner will accuse you of bringing a pet (which you didn't do. It was a teddy bear urn of your son who died at birth. And try to charge you a cleaning fee because they finally cleaned the apartment.) I am writing this review at the request of two VRBO agents. I had to send picture of my sons teddybear urn to vrbo to make the harrasment end. There are no words on how distressing this has been. "

Built in 1677, the house is secluded in a picturesque, wooded ‘plat’ beside a pond. It's the ancestral home of our Fenner family, members of which played instrumental roles in founding the Colony and the American Revolution.

The Major Thomas Fenner House is a 17th century property that is inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places, and we've arranged the House to sleep up to 10, across 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms (i.e. eight adults and two children). One of the single beds is in a room that also serves as the passageway to the second floor bathroom.
The home is an architectural rarity as one of the few remaining ‘stone ender’ structures in North America, and is full of period features and rustic prerevolutionary charm. Guests can enjoy the full kitchen and formal dining room, or barbeque and dine al fresco in nice weather.
Our family has made efforts to ensure modern guests’ comfort, while abiding by good conservation practices and maintenance of a period ambiance. Guests may encounter critters, drafts and so forth on occasion, as might be expected in a 350 year old house surrounded by woods and wetlands. - "Our family of five had a wonderful time in the Fenner House. The stairs to the second floor are steep and creaky, not for anyone with mobility issues. We walked around the inside of the home and discovered something new every time. The floors are original from late 1600's so if this is not your scene - I wouldn't recommend this property. But if you have an appreciation for things still around for over 300 plus years (including trees in the backyard) I would highly recommend this property. We had my grandson (who is 10 months old and very curious) with us and had to watch him very carefully while crawling on the floor because of the uneven floor boards but we put a large blanket on the floor and he was just fine. The hosts were so accommodating to our needs and communication was excellent. Thank you Richard for opening your family home and heritage to us."

First kid under 10 stays free!* This is a great property for families-cozy enough for time spent together but also with enough space to get away from each other when needed. Kids love our farm animals and adults like the convenience to amenities and activities.

With enough advance notice, we are happy to provide for any anticipated extra needs when we can and, since we live on the farm, we can quickly attend to anything that arises during your stay. This includes early check-in: we'll accommodate when we can , but plese dont call us when you are standing outside 2 hours early (unless it is an emergency-then we'll make you a cup of tea and set you up at our house for a bit).

We have four bedrooms with double accommodations (second floor)and one convertible (first floor): so we can sleep 8 adults and either one adult or two kids on the convertible. Please note that our base rate is for the two first guests-after that, guests (*the first kid under 10 stays free!*) are charged an additional $35 a night. When booking, skip the free kid in your guest count but send us a message that explains who is actually coming so we can prepare.

We have been doing this for a while now and we consider ourselves to be good and thoughtful hosts (our reviews agree). Experience has been a great teacher and our hosting has evolved over the years : we ask that you read our rules and requests (here in the app or posted on the fridge) and if something does not make sense, that you ask us about it.
