Reminder to folks not to smoke in non-smoking places so the renters who follow don’t have to smell your butts! Thank you for a wonderful week." - "We had a nice time. Our hosts were responsive, but otherwise gave us privacy. The beds were very comfortable. There were many extras to make the home have all the little things you might need. - "A great find just outside of Damariscotta. The accommodations were absolutely comfortable - a charming little space on the second floor of a New England Cape Cod home. Highly recommend a stay here to explore the beautiful Pemaquid peninsula. Great for up to three guests with a queen in the main bedroom and a twin tucked away in a corner of the main area." - "The space is cozy and well-appointed, with a bed in the living area, in addition to the bed in the bedroom. There is a refrigerator, toaster oven, toaster and microwave. The bathroom has a tub and shower. It was a very comfortable place to stay and could accommodate three people. I especially liked the on demand lighting that was motion activated and lighted the path and stairs after dark. The only negative that may affect some is that the access to the apartment is up a steep set of stairs."

- "Lovely cottage, Whispering Pines, enjoyed the serenity of being on the point. The 3 sided water view was incredibly relaxing. Saw an eagle, several days, sitting on a dead tree out on one of the islands, was glad I brought the binoculars. Loons, ducks, geese family. We had a lovely time, I can see why the cottages get booked quickly." - "My husband and I (and our fur baby) stayed in Whispering Pines for a week. Our stay was very peaceful. Our cottage had plenty of room and lots of windows. We had a beautiful view of the lake on three sides. We will be back."

Relax in this waterfront home with beautiful sunsets overlooking the Damariscotta river.
The craftsman style home has a sweeping lawn overlooking the Damariscotta river. Enjoy a glass of wine while sitting on the deck looking at the kaleidoscope sunset sky. The house is bright and airy with a three season screened in porch, living room with wood burning stove, gourmet kitchen and dining room. Four cozy bedrooms upstairs will accommodate up to 7 guests. Two bedrooms have queen beds. One bedroom has a full size bed and the fourth bedroom has a twin bed. The house is in a great location within easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants in charming Damariscotta. It is located on the Pemaquid peninsula within driving distance to local sights such as Pemaquid Lighthouse in New Harbor, Pemaquid beach, Fort William Henry, Round Pond, and Coastal Maine Botanical Garden in Boothbay.
- "We loved the property, it was a good fit for 2 families, 7 total. The river sunsets are wonderful. The convenience to Damariscotta and the wharf are a big plus. So much to do in the local area, oyster farms, music on the wharf, Pemaquid light house, kayak rentals, Bristol and Boothbay are close. It can be warm in July, and a couple days it took a while to cool down inside. We had some ping pong tournies and a friend said the favorite part of their trip was the visit to play games with us at the house. The host was very accommodating and can recommend this property highly."

- "This property is perfect. Everything you see & more from the photos/description. The location is beautiful & the house is stunning with amazing landscaping. Every room has thought put into it & it has a great vibe/feel. The cleanliness is top notch (something I always notice first thing being a host myself). Justine was incredibly responsive & helped us out last minute when we needed a place to stay. Two of us caught yoga on the beach with their wonderful neighbor in the morning and we all wished we could stay longer. The perfect home away from home!"

- "My wife and I stayed at the Pine Cove which is the remotest cottage on the property. We woke up to beautiful sunrises over Pemaquid Pond, which is really a good sized lake(might be a Maine humor thing). We enjoyed campfires at night and exploring during the day. Our flat coated retriever was in dog heaven because he could run around and explore the woods and pond. We loved the location for its natural beauty and serenity."

"SOUTHERN EXPOSURE" has not been offered for rent in a number of years...so no VRBO reviews. It is a very special property....a true gem!
Location! Location! Location!
One mile south of the lovely village of Damariscotta (charming shops, fine dining and cafes, book store, community movie theater) is a private road leading into Cottage Point, a quaint settlement on the saltwater/tidal Damariscotta River that evokes neighborhoods of yesteryear.
The red cottage, not visible from the winding road, perches high above Huston Cove and overlooks Hog Island, the home to a nesting pair of bald eagles! Hummingbirds abound at the feeders overlooking the cove. The garden has plantings of hydrangeas, lilacs, rhododendrons, and perennials. Swim or kayak (available for rent nearby) from the private dock. The water is pleasant for swimming in Huston Cove!
Built in 1941, this cottage is a charmer with comfortable furnishings (firm mattresses and 100% cotton sheets) and warm pine paneling! Works by local artists and longtime renters adorn the walls. It is perfect for a quiet, secluded, and private relaxing getaway. There are fantastic water views from the wrap-around deck, living room, kitchen, and master bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped for those who want to cook and, of course, there is a lobster pot! There is a fabulous view as you wash dishes. An outdoor shower is discretely hidden at the back of the cottage.
The cottage is comfortable but not fussy, simple but not rustic. Your time at Southern Exposure is focused on each other, food, and the setting.
Town and grocery stores are five minutes away. Location, location, location! So private, yet close to everything.
No smokers. No pets...no exceptions, no matter how perfect and adorable.
