I received two emails period to our stay, we arrived at the property after a 4 hour drive to Lake Tahoe only to be told by Michelle that I need to hush up and listen to her instructions. No where in the email did it state there was a lockbox on the front door the only code in the email was for the jacuzzi which was wide open when we arrived. The next morning we attempted to throw the trash we couldn’t find the key to the dumpster I looked through my email I looked the house rule book and no explanation on how or where the key was. I was hesitant but I had to call Michelle back but this time she didn’t answer AT ALL so we had to have the trash in the house bagged all day while at the lake. The WiFi worked when it wanted. Dishwasher didn’t work at all. Lights in the kitchen were dim because the bulbs were out. If I had the choice of renting the property again I’d look for another place. My family and I travel a lot and this is the first time I experienced something like Michelle. I was very surprised Tahoe is such a popular vacation spot and with amount of money we spent on the house I expected to be treated with a little bit more respect. The surrounding lakes and activities in the area is amazing dispute having to stay at the property..."

Important Info

→ Like most homes in Tahoe, this home does NOT have AC. If coming during July or August, it can be in the mid to high 80s. We do provide fans.

→ After you book, we will message you for some additional info. Please check the app often as this is how we prefer to communicate before and during your stay. You will also be required to sign a rental agreement which goes over the local rental laws in more detail as well as other standard house rules. Thank you!

→ The backyard is not fully fenced so please bring leashes or tethers.

→ Tahoe has standard leash laws so please keep your dogs leashed while walking in the neighborhood. All off leash dog play should be contained to the backyard only. The neighbors appreciate it!

→ The BBQ is electric

→ The total occupancy is for adults and does not include children 5 & under so extra kids 5 & under are welcome. Just make sure there are enough beds for the kiddos!

Our guests will have access to the entire property with the exception of a few locked owner closets.

Checking In

You will check in by going right to the home using the digital keypad located on the front door. Your code will be messaged to you 2 days before you arrive.

Communication

You can get ahold of us anytime on the app or via our local phone number. However, there may be delays after 6pm when we are home with our families. We have a QR code guest book on the fridge that has a wealth of information in it and can help answer most questions.

North Upper Truckee or “NUT” neighborhood as locals call it is a very quiet area off the beaten path. You are about 5 minutes to Raley’s at the Y but you feel like you are much farther away from town. This quiet county neighborhood is best for families and those looking to relax. Just a short walk or bike ride from this home are miles of forested hiking and biking trails.

WILD FIRES: Obviously we have no control of occurrences of wild fire. I STRONGLY RECCOMMEND BUYING INSURANCE TO REIMBURSE YOUR LOSSES IF YOU CANCEL YOUR VACATION, OUTSIDE OF OUR CANCELLATION POLICY, it's cheap.

A wood burning stove is the primary source for heating the cabin and making S'mores, unlimited firewood is provided. NO OUTDOOR OPEN PIT FIRES ARE ALLOWED(don't even think about it), you will refunded and removed.

This small cabin has a peek-a-boo WATER VIEW, 1 bedroom, 1 bath, a queen bed in the bedroom sleeps two, plus two large sofas will sleep kids or two adults. Walk 400 yards to the private Lakeview Corporation dock for swimming, fishing, kayak or stand up paddle board. Many trailheads within a very short distance, i.e. Desolation Wilderness, Angora, Emerald Bay, Mt Tallac. There is an electric oven/stove, a small refrigerator, microwave. This is a true heaven on earth. The beauty is incredible.

This upgraded Chalet is nestled on a quiet county lot surrounded by tall pines. This is the perfect blend of modern upgrades and classic Tahoe chalet charm. A very clever remodel expanded this traditional chalet into a roomy home perfect for families looking for a Tahoe retreat.
Enter through the covered front porch into a spacious great room, take in the beautiful views and make yourself at home.
The entry level features a great room with gas fireplace, dining area and remodeled, well-equipped kitchen. Open beams, pine ceilings and wood floors enhance the woodsy Tahoe chalet style. Two bedrooms and full bath are located on the first floor.
Upstairs there is a peaceful sitting room with fantastic views of the backyard, mountains and vistas. The primary, largest bedroom (with private bath) is a wonderful spot to relax.
The upstairs sitting area can be accessed by a spiral staircase from the living room, or the “bridge” from the other wing. The sitting area has beautiful views of the wooded lot and the mountains in the past.
In addition, in a separate wing there is a bedroom with vaulted ceilings and another small loft area with a double bed and single futon.
The backyard is a great place for the kids to play and the chalet is just down the block from miles of Forest Trails, walk to Osgood Swamp (great wildflowers in the spring) miles of trails for hiking. This is aa great location for those that love mountain biking, cross country skiing and snow shoeing. It is a short drive to fishing and boating at Echo Lake, the beaches along Highway 89 (Camp Richardson, Pope Beach, Baldwin Beach). One of our favorite walks is exploring the Kiva and Valhalla Historic Sites.

Our grandsons were too shy to tell us that they were sweltering in there. So passing that nugget along. Everything was tidy and as advertised and the deposit was returned before the 14-day deadline."

- WINTER TRAVEL ADVISORY: After the historic Winter of 2023, we recommend 4WD vehicles with snow tires, tire chains and experience driving in the snow. Emphasis on snow tires. Tahoe roads are icy and power outages are common. Please always wear snow boots and walk with care on icy pathways.
- BBQ/DECKS IN WINTER: Due to snow levels and freezing temps, BBQs are not serviced and decks are not shovelled during the Winter but if you can dig it out and there is propane - feel free to use!
- LATE CHECK OUT: Please let us know 24 hours prior to check out, if you wish to request a late check out. First hour is free then $25/hour after that, not to exceed 1pm. Please note our cleaners sometimes travel for up to 1 hour to clean this home so we ask that you please respect the 10am check out time.
- NO AC: Like most homes in Tahoe, there is no AC but we do provide plenty of fans.
- HIGH FIRE RISK: Lake Tahoe is a high-risk fire area. Fireworks, wood fire pits, smoking/improper disposal of cigarette butts and charcoal bbq’s are prohibited.
- BLACK BEARS: Black bears inhabit Lake Tahoe and are attracted to food and trash. Always lock your car doors, roll up windows and view from afar. Please do not feed our bears.
- TOWELS: We supply one bath towel, one wash cloth per occupant and then one hand towel per bathroom.
- SECURITY: Most of our homes have exterior-only security cameras and noise decibel monitoring systems to ensure we are in compliance with the county ordinance but we take our guests privacy VERY seriously. There is never indoor cameras. Most owners only look to see bears and snow levels at their homes :)
- MOUNTAIN CRITTERS: It’s not uncommon at any home in Tahoe to find little mountain mice, spiders, spider webs, ants, mosquitos, etc. Our homes have on-going extermination services but despite our best efforts, these little critters might make their way inside. If found it doesn’t mean a home is dirty, let us know and we will do our best to mitigate such findings.

Our cabin is very clean and fully stocked with all the essentials and then some. We have an open concept kitchen. Please note that we have seating for meals for up to 4 at the kitchen counter. We do not have a separate kitchen table.

We have plenty of board games, xbox-360, which also doubles as a DVD player. We do have a limited amount of movies available.(mostly kid movies) There is NO Cable TV. Apps through Roku only.
We have great Wifi service , however cell service can be spotty.

Please note we only have 1 55" TV in the house located in the main living space.

Our place is perfect for small families or small groups. We are conveniently located off of North Upper Truckee Road, avoiding lake traffic during the busy season.
Since we are located in a quiet residential street, NO PARTIES are allowed. Sound travels very easily in the mountains. If you plan to party, please respect our neighbors and book elsewhere. The city and county are very strict and will issue noise citations which you will be responsible for if you violate the ordinance.

Down the street from our location is the forest, with access to hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing.

We do have a gas BBQ available in the summer , however it is put away for the winter in mid-fall, usually mid October. During that time, it will not be available for use.

- "20min to heavenly, easy access to lockbox, clean linens and kitchenware provided. everything was great!" - "Karen is very communcative and twice resolved some issues we had with the hot water due to the cold weather. She was very quick in resolving the issues, which we know were out of her control and we were very appreciative of. The house is as described in the pictures. All the essentials are there. Salt, pepper, some cooking oil, pots, pans, can opener, blender, a few spices, foil, laundry detergent, dish detergent, TP, towels, paper towels. House also has a TV and xbox, which we didn't turn on, but looked like they were functional. The things that weren't there were: oven mitts (we used towels), measuring cups/spoons (we used a pyrex liquid glass container and silverwear as proxies), flour (we brought our own). The house was a little dark at night. I mitigated this by bringing the lamps from the bedrooms out to the main area to brighten the area in the evening, which was good enough for me. Didn't use the lamps in the bedrooms since there was overhead lighting, and the kids were sleeping in there. There is a gas furnace that heats the entire house. Kept the main room very warm, and we kept the doors to the bedrooms open to make sure the heat got into the bedrooms, which worked fine. The bedrooms have electric wall heaters, which we didn't use as much since they were noisy and would turn on/off over the course of the night. shower was great. having laundry machine was great. really marked all my boxes, and despite the hot water issues (which were resolved), would stay here again, especially knowing the great communication of Karen and Matt. Thank you Karen."

This is an absolutely adorable little cabin in a very serene county neighborhood that will really make you feel like you are in the mountains! This 2 bed, 1 bath remodelled cabin sleeps 4 total and can park up to 1 car. Located off North Upper Truckee, there is plenty to do with miles of hiking trails very nearby, and yes, it’s close to the Truckee river! This cabin has been very tastefully remodelled to allow you to have the best of both worlds. Located about 15 mins to Lake Tahoe and 20 mins to the casinos. - BLACK BEARS: Black bears inhabit Lake Tahoe and are attracted to food and trash. Always lock your car doors, roll up windows and view from afar. Please do not feed our bears.
- TOWELS: We supply one bath towel, one wash cloth per occupant and then one hand towel per bathroom.
- SECURITY: Most of our homes have exterior-only security cameras and noise decibel monitoring systems to ensure we are in compliance with the county ordinance but we take our guests privacy VERY seriously. There is never indoor cameras. Most owners only look to see bears and snow levels at their homes :)
- MOUNTAIN CRITTERS: It’s not uncommon at any home in Tahoe to find little mountain mice, spiders, spider webbs, ants, mosquitos, etc. Our homes have on-going extermination services but despite our best efforts, these little critters might make their way inside. If found it doesn’t mean a home is dirty, let us know and we will do our best to mitigate such findings.

Located in a quiet neighborhood that feels like your in the middle of the woods but the drive to town is only about 5-10 minutes. One room with bunk beads, one with a queen and attached bathroom and a second small upstairs area with another full/queen, bunk beds, couch and TV area. The kitchen is great and the living room area was a nice get-together spot in the evenings. I would definitely rent again."

- "It was even better than we expected. Very clean, updated, comfortable and great location. " - "The house was clean and easy to check into. Location is close enough to most everything. It was a good week long stay for our family of 3 and dog. The only suggestions would be some more comfortable seating in the living room. Maybe another loveseat or big cozy chair. It was mostly myself and kiddo cozying on the only small couch in the living room and my husband sat at the table, dining chair or beach chair in the evenings. The house heater is completely shut off in the summer so they had 2 small plug in heaters, I assume one for each room but the living room was chilly in the mornings. There was a fold up bed but no extra blankets just the one on each bed. Overall it was a good stay and we'd stay here again."

Old-style Fallen Leaf Lake Accommodations

This charming rustic cabin was built in 1940 and has provided a summer get-a-way for generations and years of family memories. If you are looking for a retreat that takes you back in time without the t.v. and simply relax by the lake, then this is your vacation cabin rental. This is not a luxury vacation rental, but has family charm and provides a really great place to call home for a few days at the lake. Wake up with coffee roasting on the old stove and enjoy the sunrise over-looking the lake on the large deck. There is plenty of room to sleep outdoors on the deck and take in the pristine crisp air of the night.

From this cabin you have easy access to the beach below and swim docks. The marina offers small boat and slip rentals. Just above is the new General Store with a deli and lots of gifts to share with your friends. As far as outdoor recreation, you can enter Desolation Wilderness easily from the cabin heading towards Glen Alpine waterfalls, Lily lake and beyond. Mount Tallac is also accessible for those spectacular 360 degree views of Lake Tahoe. Don't miss out on the Angora Lakes hike either. There is so much to do you won't know you're in Lake Tahoe unless you want to sneak over for some entertainment and nightlife.

This cabin has a living room with two futon couches and a wood-burning stove for heat. There is a bunk room, separate full bed bedroom and king bed upstairs. This cabin is enjoyed by the family and their personal belongings will remain in the cabin. Their cabin is your cabin.
