When we showed up at the Tahoe Ridge Resort they could not find our reservation. The supervisor, Liz, said if I could screenshot her my Expedia reservation, she would take care of it. They gave us our room and never contacted us again in the three nights we stayed. When I got home I saw that the hotel had charged me $1695 for the stay. This is a charge that I never authorized or signed for, and quite frankly a bogus charge because I had already paid for the reservation through Expedia. I called and got no help over several days. In addition to the charges that were not authorized, the room had a very musty smell, the AC did not work in either bedroom or the main living area, the ceiling fan wobbled and made loud noises, somehow dozens of moths were entering the room nightly, and there were children’s toys in the main living area, which indicated to me that area had not been cleaned. I have never written a negative review because normally I can overlook most inconveniences, but I felt it was my duty to warn other customers that they may be charged twice for their room if they booked through a third-party. I gave the hotel my Expedia confirmation number and they claim they were never able to find it. However, when I called Expedia and gave them the number they pulled it up right away. The hotel staff also made it seem like this is a regular occurance."

- "This property has an excellent view and is nicely located near Heavy Ski Resort. The description of the condo says it sleeps 6, but it is quite small and realistically is best for no more than 4 people. We went visited in the winter and we were disappointed that the fireplace was not working. We couldn’t get it to turn on and when we contacted the property management to get the directions on how to operate it, we received a text that said the fireplace was new and they were waiting on a part to make it operable. This was disappointing since the temperatures outside were freezing and there was no communication regarding the fact the fireplace was not functioning. The only other complaint was that the mirror doors of the master bedroom/loft fell off when we tried to slid them open. Fortunately, my husband caught them and no one was hurt, but this was a safety hazard and should have been taken care of prior to our arrival or at least a sign should have been posted letting renters know the condition of the doors. I texted management( Julio), and never heard back from him acknowledging the issue. Overall, the condo made a nice place to stay for a ski weekend, but needs a little maintenance. "

Located just walking distance from Stagecoach Lift at Heavenly, 10 minutes from Heavenly Village, and right along the Tahoe Rim Trail. Outfitted with all of the modern comforts, Burnside Retreat will feel like Tahome.

The outside of the units are a little dated and could use some TLC (paint, dry rot, loose step boards (not unsafe, I believe). If you were going peak ski season, it's a short walk to the Stagecoach lift and shuttle area which was very convenient. The condo had all the items you would need and was clean and well furnished. Again, the units are a little older but overall, we were comfortable. The only real issue we had was that the fan blew 24/7 on the fireplace unit. It wasn't a problem for me during the evening with a closed bedroom door but was a problem for the person sleeping upstairs since they were able to hear it all night. Was an issue when trying to watch television and not annoy any neighbors with the tv volume to compensate. Was told it had just been rewired so not sure if there was a slight error in how it was put back together. Hoping by now it would no longer be an issue but wanted to be transparent in the review. Again, easy check in, good communication, and clean: Good value for the stay. I wouldn't mind staying there again but the 'elders' found the few minute, curvy drive a little much. It's a short enough drive into Stateline but it wasn't a problem for me. Thanks!"
