SNOWMOBILING: 2020 update: so you can snowmobile from our place into the backcountry and skip the crazy bumpy trailhead commute, though this is with special permitting that we alone can supply you with. There are moving parts to this, requires time to set up (can't do it in 24hrs) and is usually $39 per rider if you ride from the cabin, we will have more info on this after booking when we can call you. We would like 2+ weeks to give time to set up the permits.

You will need to complete your booking process with us personally. We accept your booking on VRBO and then set you up in our own system so you receive our emails, directions, info etc. This includes putting a credit card on file for deposit, incidentals, etc. We operate like a rental car company where we just authorize the card so you don't have to deal with the deposit hassle. So, after you book we will reach out, you must get in touch with us so we can complete these steps to set up your stay. :) 4wd/AWD required Oct to April

CORPORATE GROUPS: We require a 23% corporate surcharge for corporate groups. After many years of doing this we have learned that corporate groups cause more damage, don't care for the cabin and don't get informed of policies by their principal agents. 23% surcharge is on the gross booking cost and will be charged to the card on file during the stay.

Check ins- you can check in nearly any day, however major holidays are not for check ins, sorry, we do not want our staff to have to work on those days. You may be able to check out, on those days, not Christmas, usually not New Years.

The custom work in your cabin makes it super cool, never been in a place like it. From the large view windows where the deer and moose were eating to the lovely little nooks for kids to play- and there were so many times where we would be like- "I wonder if they have_xxxx_?" - and you'd have two. The kids were joking that it was like being in an Animal Planet show with all of the animals at the windows- they were like "come see out my TV!" - they were super jazzed. We loved how you have built the rustic luxury feel, beautiful place but didn't worry about kids breaking things. We've stayed at cabins that were super nice like yours and then we were constantly worrying about them knocking over a piece of art or something- thanks for the peace of mind! The hikes you told us about were perfect for the family- just as the little kids got tired it was over- my wife joked that there were cages where they let out the moose right as you came around the corner- it was amazing to watch them feeding in the meadows and see all of the BIRDS- holy smokes- there were so many birds to watch- again- Animal Planet! The property is located approximately 50 miles from Salt Lake City International Airport. We offer free, ample on-site parking for up to 15 vehicles. Please note that street parking is not permitted.

Important Information:
To ensure a smooth and transparent stay, please review the following details:

- Events & Extra Guests: Any groups over 20 guests (including day-use visitors) must be approved before booking and will incur a fee of $50 per person, per day. - Events under 50 guests are permitted with an additional event fee. Events over 50 guests are not allowed.
- Pool Heating: The pool is heated to 75°F by default. From April to October (weather permitting), you can request it be heated to 85°F for an additional fee of $75 per day. This requires 24 hours to heat, so please let us know in advance.
- RV Parking: RVs are welcome for a daily fee. The cost is $35/day (no hookups) or $50/day (with water & electric hookups).
- We can accommodate up to 3 RVs with hookups.
- Housekeeping: You may either follow the provided check-out instructions or opt for a $100 fee to have our cleaners handle these tasks. Due to time constraints, top bunk beds are not pre-made, but bedding is provided. We can make them in advance for a $100 fee with at least 48 hours' notice.

House Rules:
For your security, two cameras are located on the exterior of the property (one on the front door and one monitoring the backyard).

-The ice maker in the kitchen is unavailable for guest use.

- "Rained and snowed out of our camping plans we had to pivot and found this GEM of a property that became a place for our YW to thrive. Nestled next to Deer Creek Lake with mountains minutes away. There was so much to do on property we only left twice - once to get shakes at the famous Dairy Keen in Heber and then an excursion which consisted of Lunch at Lupitas Valley Mexican in Midway with a visit to Cascade Springs in the nearby mountains. The property was everything it said it was and was very clean. The girls changed the Man Cave into a Woman Cave and stayed up long into the night building memories and relationships. The pool and hot tub were perfect activities - rain or shine. While the rain prevented us from using the firepit, we used the beautiful atmosphere and sat around it for some amazing "fire"side talks. And the playset was a hit with these girls playing all sorts of games and just enjoying each others company. The kitchen is fully stocked with the appliances and things you might need need. My camp cooks were over the moon with the Blackstone that was available. In short, I know too late for that, it was an amazing time in this beautiful property that was well accommodated by its hosts and property manager. We would stay again in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for allowing us to stay."

The variety of things to do in the home was amazing;, from the huge bounce house, indoor pool, Lincoln logs galore for building with, air hockey, pool table, sauna, foosball... the kids were so occupied and happy it was great! The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen of any of the homes that we have rented - they had everything. From knives and cutting boards, to crock pots and instant pots, lots of sizes of serving bowls, tons of plates, bowls and silverware, 2 huge pancake griddles and multiple waffle irons, we really found everything we needed to prepare the meals. Having 2 dishwashers was a game changer!!! The dining area was so fun, one long table and 5 booths. Lots of seating for our group of 44. About our private community: At 8000 feet, and near many small lakes, this is the perfect place for a vacation. The area is wooded with the lower elevations populated with scrub oak, sagebrush, buck brush, choke cherry and rabbit brush. The higher elevations have aspen and fir trees. There are several small lakes and ponds. Deer, moose, fox, raccoons, porcupines, badgers, squirrels, chipmunks and many varieties of birds inhabit the area.

- "This is a great property, very open/light. Lots of space, as advertised, inside and outside. Great location, the reservoir is just down the street, within walking distance. The main town is located right just a couple of miles away, plenty of restaurants and activities to engage in. It is located in a very peaceful neighborhood. The hosts, Marcela and Lucio, were wonderful to work with, easy to communicate with, and available when we needed them. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property!"

Our family completed construction of our cabin in the mountains east of Heber in 2014. We spend weekends there when we can, but offer it to family, friends and others we know will take care if it throughout the year. We ask for no pets, no smoking, and no parties/gatherings other than our guests. Cleanliness and respect to neighbors is important to us.

Our cabin has two large great room areas, one upstairs with a gas fireplace and windows looking across the valley, and one downstairs with a flat screen for movies, chess table, and place for the kids to play. Huge couches in both comfortably seat 8. The large kitchen is well equipped for any of your cooking needs, and the dining table also seats 8.

The cabin has beds for 6 -- one queen in each bedroom upstairs, and two twins in the bedroom downstairs. There are two bathrooms, with a bathtub / shower upstairs, and a large shower downstairs. We built a walk-in closet adjacent one of the bedrooms for the purpose of sleeping a baby - as that is how we used it when our kids were young.

We spend most of our time at the cabin outdoors. The wrap around deck on the front and side offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valley below, an ideal setting for a family BBQ, watching the sunset, or spotting wildlife (we see deer on every visit, but also moose, elk, fox, etc). We have a 6 person hot tub in the backyard.

Location is in a gated cabin community 7 miles east of Heber Main Street and 20 miles southeast of Park City. Our cabin is about 1 mile inside the gate, so 15 minutes from Heber, 30 min from Park City/Deer Valley, 40 min from Sundance, and one hour from either Utah County or Salt Lake County.

Each time of year offers something wonderful: summers are for deer and moose watching, golfing and boating at nearby Deer Creek Reservoir or Jordanelle. Spring and fall offer great nearby hiking, fishing and 4 wheeling; and winters are filled with skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and sledding. Rentals of ATVs and snowmobiles can be delivered from Heber to access the national forest a few miles up the road and offer days of exploring in all directions. Parking of snowmobiles on the property is not feasible, and Timberlakes restricts snowmobiles inside of the gate community to owners only with strict adherence to passes issued.

Access in the winter can be challenging, as the roads are gravel and steep, especially right in front of our lot, and including our driveway. 4x4 truck or SUV is needed from November to March. Chains may be needed in case of storm or melting snow that turns to ice. Also, Timberlakes only plows the roads at the conclusion of snowfall, so it is possible to get "stuck" at the cabin for a day while waiting out a storm!

- Phone: Verizon and TMobile work well, but there are spotty areas (including Timberlakes gate is notoriously bad). Other carriers are spotty most of the time everywhere.

The cabin and its location offers you solitude and relaxation, the opportunity to experience the great outdoors, as well as being extremely close to nature.

You enter into a beautifully decorated living room, looking straight on to a large open fireplace which is open to the living room and kitchen, it is a full kitchen including a laundry area, a downstairs bathroom, with a dining area situated under the window in the living room.

There is a spiral staircase leading up to the loft area. where you will find three queen size beds, (there are no segregated bedrooms), plus a pellet stove for if you need extra heat. Downstairs in the living room there is also a sleeper sofa.

The unit has a Smart TV that can be used to stream any streaming company you have an account with, eg, Roku, Netflix, Disney, Hulu, etc. There is also an antenna installed to allow tenants to watch local channels, and the internet network is connected and has great reception.
There is free parking on the upper driveway that fits two smaller cars, or one larger SUV or truck, a tighter fit but works.

There are many things to do within a 30 miles radius of the cabin including some of the major skiing destinations such as Park City, Sundance, Snowbird etc so it's very convenient for those looking for winter activities like, skiing, sledging, snowmobiling, tubing etc and then in the summer months its offer several activities like Brown Trout fishing, river rafting, and tubing on the Provo River.

There is a small rowboat for rent that can be used in Jones Lake, just southwest of Witt’s Lake which is the large private lake you saw driving in, (we do not have permission to fish on Witt’s Lake) and so much more.

Guest Access:
*IMPORTANT* To be able to access this property during the Winter/Skiing months, a 4 WHEEL DRIVE Car is essential, sometimes snow chains are needed too! This is mandatory by the Timber Lakes Community. Roads are plowed regularly.

The Neighborhood:
The neighborhood holds everything one could imagine from lakes (several) to thousands of Aspens, Pines, Scrub Oak and wildflowers to lots of hiking, ATV and Snowmobile trails. Not to mention the occasional Moose, Mule Deer, Sandhill Crane, Mountain Lions, Marmot, skunks, Pot Gut, Pack Rat, Squirrels, Chipmunks and many other species of birds and other mammals. Please drive the speed limit of 35 mph throughout the community to keep the animals, yourselves, and your vehicles safe.

This is the perfect spot for a fun relaxing mountain retreat. There are deer ticks in the Summer which you will want to watch out for. Please plan to bring 'Deet' to wash your clothes with. This will help, but be sure to thoroughly check all bodies, especially children for ticks after they explore the trails and acreage this property has to offer.

Getting Around:
The only entrance and exit is via the Guard Shack and Lake Creek Rd. This is truly mountain living and the elements can make it hard to travel in and out of the cabin at times. Please also be advised that there are many species of wildlife crossing the roads all the time from Moose, Mule Deer and Mountain Lions to Pot Guts, Marmots and Skunks.

Some residents and guard's have had poor experiences with disrespectful and unruly guests and they might not respond very kindly if you tell them you are Airbnb, VRBO or other short term rental guests, so it's best to just let them know you're friends of the owners (The Healey's) and you won't have any trouble.

Other Things to Note:
The owners reserve the right to have security cameras installed on the exterior walls of some of the homes pointing away to watch properties.

Interaction with Guests:
We won't be available during your stay, but do have boots on the ground for emergencies between 9am and 5pm. Any after hours calls will require an emergency fee of $50. If it's not an emergency, please wait until operating hours.

A great Log Cabin home with 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. Our home sleeps up to 12 people. There is a large family/gathering room, a dining room with a table that seats 8 people and a very large kitchen with extra seating at the island.

Our cabin is located to areas that offer outdoor activities you can do year round. There is fishing and/or ice fishing on Deer Creek Reservoir (within minutes of the home) boating, paddle boarding (lots of water sports and the Marina is 5 minutes away), trails to hike (you are surrounded by Wasatch mountains), ride ATV's(there are trails within 10 minutes that take you into the mountains) there are places close by to rent some, ride your bike (beautiful areas to ride for all ages), walking or running and of course just sitting on the front porch enjoying the great outdoors. There are parks to enjoy a picnic and play grounds.

Midway is just minutes from our cabin. It is a quaint town of Swedish descendant's which you can see on your drive, bike ride or walk around town. Also located in Midway is a crater where you can swim or scuba dive. It is located on the Homestead property. They have great restaurants and a golf course. Also in Midway is the Zermatt Hotel.

The cabin is over 4,000 square feet and has 3 bedrooms. It should be noted that there are beds for 9 guests, but we do allow additional guests for families and groups that are willing to provide arrangements. An additional blow up mattress will be provided. Any group exceeding 9 guests will need to bring additional sleeping arrangements such as a cot or blow up mattress. There are 2 living rooms, the master closet is extra large and has space for a pack n play or child bed.

We strive to disclose everything about this home so that each guest can have accurate expectations. Below is a list of unique and unusual aspects of the property:

Upstairs Sauna
There is an enclosed sauna upstairs, located in the hallway outside the master bedroom. It’s a great amenity for relaxation.

Water
Our home boasts incredible-tasting water from our own well. It's cold and refreshing, and we believe it's some of the best water we've ever tasted. We have the largest well pump available to provide maximum water pressure. Running two showers simultaneously may result in a slight decrease in water pressure, but the well water's quality makes up for it.

Wildlife
You might often see deer and occasionally elk around the property. In the 8 years we've lived here, we have never had visits from predators such as mountain lions or bears. Occasionally, raccoons and skunks may come around if there’s food left outside.

Bugs and Pests
• The house is treated monthly for pests both inside and outside. During the summer, particularly after a few days of rain, there may be some mosquitoes. The proximity to the lake means there are almost always a few mosquitoes around during the warm months, but nothing that has ever caused significant problems at our house.
• Each fall, there is a large hatch of box elder bugs in the Heber Valley, typically starting in early October and lasting through most of November. They don’t bite but can be a nuisance. No amount of pest control can keep these bugs away if doors are left open. They are not dangerous but can be annoying for about 6 weeks. We see a few throughout the summer, but the big hatch comes every fall.

Wi-Fi:
Due to the location of the home, Utah Broadband is the only local internet service available. It’s decent—I worked from home for the last 6 years using it—but it’s not as fast as fiber or cable. DSL is not an option for us. We ran multiple TVs at once and I made countless Zoom calls using Utah Broadband. Currently, download speeds test at 50 Mbps and upload speed at 8 Mbps. Occasionally, speeds may slow, and a call to Utah Broadband usually resolves this. Please let me know if you have any issues with the internet.

HVAC
The heater runs on propane and heats the home very quickly. We have the largest A/C unit that the furnace can handle. It cools the house well but cannot run nonstop or it will freeze. We typically set the thermostat at 74°F; during the summer, it will kick on around noon. We let it run for 3-4 hours, turn it off for about 45 minutes, and then turn it back on. Heber is consistently hot in July and early August, so you’ll need it. There is a portable A/C unit upstairs because that area of the house stays warmer. It works very well and is needed only on really hot days.

Busy Road
The house is located next to a busy road. When we considered buying this house, we contemplated whether we would be comfortable living next to a busy road. The trade-off was an incredible view. We decided it was worth it and bought the home in 2015. One of the first improvements we made was replacing the older windows with new ones that greatly reduce the road noise inside the house. It made a tremendous difference, and you will find it much quieter inside. Despite the busy road, we felt fairly secluded in this home. It was nice not having close neighbors, and although there are constantly cars driving past, we always felt we had a lot of privacy.

The beauty of this experience is that its only 20 minutes for Heber City, but the feel is that you're in some of the most remote mountains in Utah. The experience is designed to get you off the beaten path and into some to the best mountain terrain in Utah to hike, snowmobile back country ski or explore on the UTV. Because of its remote location you are required to bring some essentials with you. You would want to bring and prepare your own food. We will provide you with the water, wood, propane and a portable toilet. We also provide sleeping bag liners to insure you have a clean place to sleep if you don’t provide your own bedding. The kitchen is stocked with all the utensils, plates, bowls, cups, pots, pans, grill, and even a pizza oven to use as needed. You are required to leave the tent in a clean manner, or a cleaning fee will be assessed. Rent a Six seater can am defender max for $400 or a can am x3 with 5 seats for some real power. In the winter months you will need to rent ether skidoos 850 summit x for $400 a day. Or Ski the 7 miles into the site. Or bring your own sleds.

What you need to know

Things to pick up from our home at 1650s 4800e Heber Utah. Items will be in box on front porch.
1. Sleeping Bag Liners if you’re not taking your own bags.
2. Water we provide 10 gallons for drinking and doing dishes.
3. Porta toilet/ toilet paper tank can expand with heat and elevation pressure open and close lever to release pressure before using each time to prevent liquid from blowing all over.
4. Lanterns, these will also charge phones, there is limited service with Verizon.
5. Bring your own food.
6. The Pin will take you to the Trails End sign, the sign marks the parking space and the trail to the tent. From here you can also see the tent above you.

Tent processes:
* 1. Once booked you will be sent first gate codes
* 2. Once booked you will be sent second gate codes
* 3. Please be respectful of other owners in the area. We try and keep a low profile in the area if asked what you are doing in the area tell them you are visiting the Johnsons.
* 4. Wintertime shovel snow off deck and stairs.
* 5. To get in the tent undo Velcro straps, step through small opening and unscrew 2 plastic fasteners on floor. Keep screen zipped as much as possible to avoid flies.
* 6. In the warmer months bring cooking stove out onto deck to keep tent cleaner and avoid the heat of cooking.
* 7. Turn propane tanks on. Make sure to turn off at departure.
* 8. Propane runs the stove and the tent preheat heater.
* 9. Tent pre heat heater can be ran for short durations to quickly heat the tent. Turn nob to ignite, may take a few tries.
* 10. If woodburning stove is used restock what is burned from wood under deck.
* 11. When starting fire open chimney vent knob to be parallel with stove pipe and twist open vents in doors.
* 12. Once stove fire is going its imperative you shut chimney vent to a perpendicular position to prevent stove from getting to hot and burning the roof.
* 13. Open door vents to increase heat and close door vents to cool tent.
* 14. To burn all night, stock stove, with the larger pieces of wood and shut door vents and close chimney vent to perpendicular.
* 15. If using fire pit before bed or leaving, ensure fire is completely out.
* 16. In warmer months use water to cook and clean with. There are two large metal washing pans for this purpose.
* 17. In winter melt snow to wash and rinse dishes.
* 18. To sleep use the bed, Full mattress under bed, futon and two-fold out chairs.
* 19. Use clean mattress liners in sleeping bags and to cover pillows if you are using our sleeping bags.
* 20. Keep tent clean to help keep the mice and other critters away.

Cleaning:
* 1. Turn all woodburning stove vents off.
* 2. Restock wood if used in fire from under deck.
* 3. If using fire pit before going to bed and before leaving ensure fire is completely out.
* 4. Turn all propane off.
* 5. Bring Sleeping bag liners back.
* 6. Bring water container, lanterns and porta toilets back.
* 7. Sweep and clean tent. A cleaning fee will be assessed if not cleaned.
* 8. Screw plastic fasteners back in and slide through the doors and revelcro door.

Getting there.

* 1. Maps will show you three possible ways to get there. However, there is only one way that works and that is to go straight up Lake Creek Rd. It will try to take you through Timberlakes. However you can’t get through Timber lakes or through the girls camp. Continue up lake creek road past Timberlake. The pavement will end at the top of the mountain. Continue on the dirt road for about a half mile where you will see the first road on the right. At the start of this road is the first of two gates. Use the first combo to get through this gate. Follow this road through some construction for about a mile till you reach the second get. This is where the road gets a little rough. Use the second code to get through this gate. Once through the gate you will cross through a couple of small streams and big puddles they are not very deep. After the water you will wind up a steep hill and make your way to the trails end sign and the park spot. Enjoy your stay.
