We have completely remodeled everything from Fresh paint, New furniture, wood floors, cabinets to the granite counter tops and then some. We enjoyed watching all the wildlife and ducks pass by in the water and loved having coffee with the sunrise on the deck. The landscaping and the back area is just perfection. To the prospective renter - please bear in mind this is a SMALL cottage. It's very humble in size but definitely still cozy. Don't come expecting tons of room inside and the Ritz. You're renting a small lake front cottage with well water. We came into this with it in mind but just wanted to put this out for anyone who might be expecting something different. The living room couches are comfortable and the furniture and finishing inside are very nice. Also, the grill outside takes awhile to heat up so plan to get it started up well before you plan to eat. If I could make a few suggestions to the host it would be to maybe provide a small staple pantry with some basic seasonings, cooking oil, sugar, etc. & to maybe think about upgrading the beds and pillows as they weren't very comfy. The host (Steve) was great with communication and responded quickly. We truly fell in love and will book again!"

NOTE - This unique property offers more than half an acre and includes two parcels. The first parcel is waterfront featuring a private dock, kayak rack, seating area and two complementary kayaks. The Hilltop Lakehouse sits on the second parcel, right across the street and high up on a hill, allowing for stunning water views, a generous yard and brand-new deck.

The Neighborhood:
Portage Lakes (PLX to the locals) is a vibrant lake community (spanning 14 lakes and reservoirs) with a great mix of full-time residents and seasonal vacationers who all have one thing in common: we love life on the lakes! There are TONS of awesome bars and restaurants dotting the shores, along with all sorts of lake activities to keep you entertained for a weekend or a month.

NO PARTIES -- There are ABSOLUTELY NO PARTIES, events or large gatherings allowed in the home or on the property. We have neighbors who will notify us of such events, and you will be required to leave immediately with no refund and a negative review will be documented. Extra cleanup from the evidence of a party or large gathering may become subject to a $30 hourly extra cleanup on top of the existing cleaning fee.
NO SMOKING -- There is absolutely no smoking of any kind anywhere on the property (cigarettes, cigars, marijuana, e-cigs, vaping, etc.), and if in violation you will be asked to leave immediately with no refund in addition to a documented negative review.
LOCAL GUESTS -- All local (Cleveland-based) guests must have at least 2+ positive reviews to book this property. Local guests must have a detailed explanation for renting due to past negative experiences with local guests (see the no parties/large gatherings rule).
PROPERTY DAMAGES – Any damaged property must be reported to the host. We understand accidents happen, and please make sure to notify the host/co-host if damage to the property occurs. Replacement fees and/or reimbursement for damaged items may occur if needed.
GUEST PROFILES – All guests must have a complete profile (including verified ID) with a profile picture.
EXTRA GUESTS – All guests on the reservation must be included in the total # (please no unauthorized guests without permission from the host).
Early Check in & Late Check out: We can accommodate up to 2 hours early check in or late check out for a $25/hour fee. Please give us a minimum of 24 hours for this request in order for us to organize our schedule.

There is a ring doorbell on the front door that monitors and records video as well as cameras on the front of the home and front of the garage.

**Please note that there is work being done on the exterior of the home from December-March during the week 9am-5pm. Workers can be visible from the ground level (kitchen and dining area) given the layout of the property. Workers vehicles will also be parking in the driveway at this time.**

Beautiful master bedroom on the main floor and 3 more bedrooms upstairs. The house is back from the street so no traffic noise. The lower lakeside area was perfect for morning coffee. The modified garage made a great game room for the guys to test their video game skills on multiple game consoles from the 80s. Check-in/out was super easy and communication with the owner received very quick replies. We would definitely stay here again if coming back to the Akron area."

The historic Landmark Lakehouse, formerly an old shop back in the day, has been tastefully restored into a spacious and modern lakeside retreat perfect for your large family or group getaway. With four large bedrooms and spacious kitchen and living spaces you will all have more than enough room to stretch out, relax, and enjoy your lake escape.

The highlight is definitely our outdoor patio and private dock! We do offer a few kayaks for you to use during your stay. This is the ideal spot for those looking to enjoy the beautiful outdoor scenery around Portage Lakes!

Portage Lakes (PLX to the locals) is a vibrant lake community (spanning 14 lakes and reservoirs) with a great mix of full-time residents and seasonal vacationers who all have one thing in common: we love life on the lakes! There are TONS of awesome bars and restaurants dotting the shores, along with all sorts of lake activities to keep you entertained for a weekend or a month.

Other Things to Note:
Early Check in & Late Check out: At this time we cannot accommodate late checkouts or early check ins due to the time it takes to prepare the house for the next guests. Thank you for understanding! We do offer bag drop option if you need it!

Driveway parking for up to 4 cars.

Please note - If you book in the winter months, our driveway is very steep and could be difficult to navigate if there is ice/snow and you do not have a 4WD vehicle.
