What you will notice about what we are trying to do here is make everything less stressful. Like providing outdoor gas grill, kayaks with life vests for all sizes, Tiki Torches for those nights whether you need them or just want them for ambiance. We also try to surround you with plants & flowers. Binoculars to watch humming birds & owls, wood peckers and other beautiful birds. Everything nature has to offer is just a stay away. We have completely remodeled everything from Fresh paint, New furniture, wood floors, cabinets to the granite counter tops and then some. We enjoyed bird watching with the provided binoculars, kayaking and fishing from the private dock. We enjoyed watching all the wildlife and ducks pass by in the water and loved having coffee with the sunrise on the deck. The landscaping and the back area is just perfection. To the prospective renter - please bear in mind this is a SMALL cottage. It's very humble in size but definitely still cozy. Don't come expecting tons of room inside and the Ritz. You're renting a small lake front cottage with well water. We came into this with it in mind but just wanted to put this out for anyone who might be expecting something different. The living room couches are comfortable and the furniture and finishing inside are very nice. Also, the grill outside takes awhile to heat up so plan to get it started up well before you plan to eat. If I could make a few suggestions to the host it would be to maybe provide a small staple pantry with some basic seasonings, cooking oil, sugar, etc. & to maybe think about upgrading the beds and pillows as they weren't very comfy. The host (Steve) was great with communication and responded quickly. We truly fell in love and will book again!"

NOTE - This unique property offers more than half an acre and includes two parcels. The first parcel is waterfront featuring a private dock, kayak rack, seating area and two complementary kayaks. The Hilltop Lakehouse sits on the second parcel, right across the street and high up on a hill, allowing for stunning water views, a generous yard and brand-new deck.

The Neighborhood:
Portage Lakes (PLX to the locals) is a vibrant lake community (spanning 14 lakes and reservoirs) with a great mix of full-time residents and seasonal vacationers who all have one thing in common: we love life on the lakes! There are TONS of awesome bars and restaurants dotting the shores, along with all sorts of lake activities to keep you entertained for a weekend or a month.

NO PARTIES -- There are ABSOLUTELY NO PARTIES, events or large gatherings allowed in the home or on the property. We have neighbors who will notify us of such events, and you will be required to leave immediately with no refund and a negative review will be documented. Extra cleanup from the evidence of a party or large gathering may become subject to a $30 hourly extra cleanup on top of the existing cleaning fee.
NO SMOKING -- There is absolutely no smoking of any kind anywhere on the property (cigarettes, cigars, marijuana, e-cigs, vaping, etc.), and if in violation you will be asked to leave immediately with no refund in addition to a documented negative review.
LOCAL GUESTS -- All local (Cleveland-based) guests must have at least 2+ positive reviews to book this property. Local guests must have a detailed explanation for renting due to past negative experiences with local guests (see the no parties/large gatherings rule).
PROPERTY DAMAGES – Any damaged property must be reported to the host. We understand accidents happen, and please make sure to notify the host/co-host if damage to the property occurs. Replacement fees and/or reimbursement for damaged items may occur if needed.
GUEST PROFILES – All guests must have a complete profile (including verified ID) with a profile picture.
EXTRA GUESTS – All guests on the reservation must be included in the total # (please no unauthorized guests without permission from the host).
Early Check in & Late Check out: We can accommodate up to 2 hours early check in or late check out for a $25/hour fee. Please give us a minimum of 24 hours for this request in order for us to organize our schedule.
As a courtesy to our cleaners, any uncleaned vomit and or blood will result in a $100 charge to the guest.

Beautiful master bedroom on the main floor and 3 more bedrooms upstairs. The house is back from the street so no traffic noise. The lower lakeside area was perfect for morning coffee. The modified garage made a great game room for the guys to test their video game skills on multiple game consoles from the 80s. Check-in/out was super easy and communication with the owner received very quick replies. We would definitely stay here again if coming back to the Akron area."

The highlight is definitely our outdoor patio and private dock! We do offer a few kayaks for you to use during your stay. This is the ideal spot for those looking to enjoy the beautiful outdoor scenery around Portage Lakes!

Portage Lakes (PLX to the locals) is a vibrant lake community (spanning 14 lakes and reservoirs) with a great mix of full-time residents and seasonal vacationers who all have one thing in common: we love life on the lakes! There are TONS of awesome bars and restaurants dotting the shores, along with all sorts of lake activities to keep you entertained for a weekend or a month.

Other Things to Note:
Early Check in & Late Check out: At this time we cannot accommodate late checkouts or early check ins due to the time it takes to prepare the house for the next guests. Thank you for understanding! We do offer bag drop option if you need it!

Driveway parking for up to 4 cars.

Please note - If you book in the winter months, our driveway is very steep and could be difficult to navigate if there is ice/snow and you do not have a 4WD vehicle.

- "The cottage building itself is a little bit rustic, and the interior walls are original, but everything else is updated, clean and well thought out. The host is environmentally conscientious and dedicated to the comfort of her guest. The beds were comfortable (I checked out the king bed but slept downstairs) and weighted blankets and sleep masks were available in each bedroom. The kitchen was fully equipped and even had extra water bottles if you’ve forgotten to bring one. The bathroom had plenty of fluffy, soft towels and shampoo, conditioner and body wash were available in the shower. Automatic soap dispensers were available at each sink. The host provided extensive and detailed information about the cabin and an comprehensive list of everything that is provided, as well as an online guide on how to use the electronics, places to go/things to do, dining opportunities, shopping, etc. The host is very responsive to emails and super helpful if you have any questions or concerns. The neighborhood and surrounding area are walkable and the lake is beautiful. I’m hoping we’ll return during the warmer months to take advantage of the boating cycling opportunities available in the area. When we do return, we will definitely be staying at KC’s Cozy Cape. "

A well-cared for and updated home right on the main chain of lakes across from Picks and Smoke On The Water. The neighborhood is peaceful and the home is centrally and conveniently located. House includes a dock slip, two-level deck, outdoor granite bar, firepit and open concept dining / living area inside.

Our home can sleep up to six visitors with its three bedrooms (1 queen bed, 1 king bed, and twin-bed bunk beds), two futons and two self-inflating air beds. All three bedrooms are located on a separate level from the living area, and the upstairs bathroom includes a deep soaking tub and spacious shower. The lower-level bathroom has a stall shower. Laundry facilities are included for your convenience free of charge. Detergent and dryer sheets provided.

The kitchen is fully updated and stocked with plates and utensils. Brew your morning coffee with our Ninja Coffee Bar (bring your whole bean coffee - we even have a bean grinder) and enjoy it on one of the many decks overlooking the water.

You can enjoy outdoor dining with a full size dinner table, granite bar with four stools, and a 4-burner propane grill with tools. On the upper deck, you can relax around the propane firepit on the outdoor sectional couch.

Both decks and the balcony boast stunning views of the water. The dock has a slip for your boat if you own one, or we can make recommendations on where to rent a pontoon. Two kayaks and a stand-up paddleboard are available for use during your stay. If fishing is your thing, you can do so right from the dock. We have a ladder to get into the lake for swimming off the dock as well.

Proximity is everything with our property - you're close to multiple bars and restaurants, multiple golf courses within a short drive, and close to local parks and towpath.

- "We came to town to visit family and rented the house on the lake as a central location. The house is great, modern upgrades, multiple decks, water access, quiet and close to everything. The property manager was very responsive and easy to work with. The views of the lake and multiple decks were great. Owners provided kayaks and a paddleboard along with life vests. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked with pretty much anything you need including toiletries, trash bags, dish soap, etc. Parking is tight in the neighborhood but it all worked and we had such a good time. We hope to come back again soon."

Just south of Akron proper, this house rests on an inlet off of Long Lake in the Portage Lakes area; this is one of the BEST lake areas to visit in OH. Close to the Akron-Canton airport, this house is a great option for someone coming on business or pleasure, visiting top tourist attractions in the area.
