Begur is a lovely old medieval town, which has many good restaurants and bars, with many chic boutiques. The villa, Les Tres Oliveres, is in an area of great natural beauty with a large range of leisure pursuits including diving and golf. It is also very popular with walkers and ramblers throughout the year. The villa is on the Cami de Ronda coastal route and a quiet road leading to the marine reserve of Ses Negres (2 minutes walk) between the beaches of Aiguafreda (10 minutes walk) and Sa Riera (2.3km) and about 5km from Begur.

The garden has been fully relandscaped in January 2024 to make it drought resistant. The grassed areas had proved to be unsustainable over the last 2 years due to global warming and subsequent water restrictions that were imposed. The new garden is comprised of wood composite decking and steps together with gravel and two mature lemon trees.

The house has wonderful sea and countryside views and is fully furnished with many facilities. It consists of a kitchen, 2 living rooms, a sun room / dining room, 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms (two king size bedrooms and one with 2 single beds.)

Both of the upper bedrooms have air con.

The lower king size has an en-suite wetroom and French doors opening on to the shaded outside dining area and sofa).

The balcony is accessible from both the main living room and the sun room, both of which have great sea views. The shaded outside dining area has a BBQ and is just up from the private heated pool (8m x 4m).

Diving, Boating, Walking and Golf:
This area really is one of the best areas in Spain for Scuba Diving. We dive from Aiguafreda which is 2 minutes drive from the house. It's a great safe place to dive with loads to see. We also dive at the Medas Islands and with Dive Begur.

The marine reserve at the end of the road is called Ses Negres, and is 2 minutes walk from the villa. It is excellent for snorkelling with lots of fish to see in very clear water, but as it is protected, scuba diving is not permitted in this specific location. Please ask us if you have any more questions about this.

If you want to go boating, we can put you in touch with a local who provides boat hire or another who can take you on a tour along the coast. You can moor up in coves which are only accessible from the sea.

The Costa Brava is wild and rugged area with tremendous views and scenery. It has great walks and 370km of marked paths which are maintained by the Baix Emporda Tourism Committee. The house is actually on the coastal path called Cami de Ronda

There are 9 golf courses in the area including 2 championship courses

How to get here: From the UK, you can get Eurotunnel or a ferry from Dover to Calais. The drive time from Calais is 12 hours. Otherwise, most budget airlines such as EasyJet, Ryanair and Jet 2 fly in to the airports of Girona, Perpignan and Barcelona. Girona airport is 45 minutes and the others are less than 90 minutes drive.

Villa Begur is our home but since we are expats we can't always enjoy it, so we offer it for short-term holiday rental for the periods we are not there.

It is a spacious and modern vacation house five minutes walk from the central plaza of the medieval village of Begur. It enjoys stunning views of the village and of the mediterranean. It was built to a high standard in 2005 with everything you would expect from a luxury modern holiday home. Having walking access to the town completely changes how you enjoy Begur. You can walk to Begur's central plaza as well as its restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. Your car is only necessary for trips to the surrounding areas, including of course the Costa Brava beaches. You can also go walking or bicycling along the beautiful inland paths as well as the coastal track ("Cami de Ronda"), all of which are signposted and well maintained.

The house is spacious and intelligently designed.

The entry level upstairs contains the built-in garage, the kitchen, dining area, salon and two outdoor dining areas (one being the outdoor terrace facing town and the sea and the other being located in its own private garden). Both outdoor dining areas are equipped with a table and chairs for six persons. The whole of the upstairs living area plus the outdoor terrace benefit from the incredible views to the village and the sea. At night Begur and its medieval castle light up making a spectacular backdrop. The shared garden and pool also benefit from the wonderful views.

The level below contains the four bedrooms, three bathrooms and the laundry (with washing machine, dryer & ironing table). Three bedrooms have their own direct access to the private garden which leads to the pool (shared with three other houses).

There is air conditioning and central heating throughout the home plus a large television, internet access, wifi and an Apple TV allowing you to access music and movies via your Apple account.

A barbecue is included.

Please note that on arrival, we need to collect the tourism tax, based on Catalan law. It is 1 EUR per person per day (children aged 16 years or less exempted), capped at a maximum of 7 days. We need to collect a copy of each guest's passport main page as well, to register all guests with the local police.

A fabulous 17m pool with diving board, surrounded by elegant garden areas with several sunny terraces, offering guests a range of spaces in which to eat, relax and play. No.7 lends itself perfectly to gatherings of friends and family, with its communal dining areas, a terrace in the shade of an old Mulberry tree; inside an airy dining room with a huge table. The ‘Moroccan’ room is perfect for younger members to ‘escape the rigours of the day’ and watch TV (Two large flat screens one of which has Sky channels), leaving the upstairs sitting room free for a quiet drink. The well-equipped kitchen, with windows opening onto the terrace is a lovely place to prepare delicious, locally sourced food. There are fabulous food markets in Begur and Parafrugel (6 km away). There is also an excellent supermarket two minutes drive. No.7 is wonderfully flexible as 5 of the bedrooms can be either large double or 2 single beds. All bedrooms are air-conditioned with white linen and feather pillows. Bathroom towels are provided as well as a beach towel for each guest. Begur centre is an 8 mins walk away. An abundance of top class restaurants abound, together with delightful, small designer shops for clothes, jewellery, housewares and gifts with a Catalan feel. Further afield there’s much else to explore. Cycling to medieval villages, local ruins, hilltop chapels, wineries, coastal walks, museums and galleries… explore.

The living accommodation is open plan and all on one level with a very large sitting/dining area which opens on one side to the pool terrace, to another onto the covered terrace and bbq and to the other side onto the garden. So lots of light and space. the house was purchased 2 years ago and completely renovated so everything is relatively new and of good quality. The master bedroom is beautiful with double height beamed ceiling, the 2nd double is spacious and beside the family bathroom and there are two other bedrooms sharing a further bathroom. Ideal choice for two families sharing or perhaps three generations holidaying together. We highly recommend this villa.

Golf, cycling, riding and walking: For the golfer there are a number of local courses within a very short distance. At Pals there are two good courses and at Emporda one of the best courses in Spain. There is no shortage of choice in this region with courses to suit all levels from the most challenging to the more forgiving. It is up to you. Club hire is available in most places and it is relatively easy to organise tee times.
There is a very friendly English speaking golf society locally if you wish to take part in any of their competitions that is easily arranged.
This area has a large number of well mapped and signposted designated walking and cycling paths. We can arrange hire of mountain bikes for you by the day or by the week. Discover the hidden Catalonia off the beaten track through tiny medieval villages, vinyards and fields of wild lfowers, rice, wheat and sunflowers. Heaven on earth!
We can arrange riding for you or simply a quiet hack along one of the beaches, through the forest tracks or countryside.

Food and Wine:
This area is renowned for its great food and wine.
El Bulli was best Restaurant in the World for many years and during that time many young chefs worked in their kitchen. There are now a number of wonderful restaurants in Catalonia owned and run by these former students of Ardrian Ferran.
Apart from these 'top end' places (which if you ask David or Phil Fleming about they will be happy to fill you in) local Catalan food is excellent. Prices are exceptionally reasonable and a basic 10/15€ menu del dia can be a fantastic culinary experience.
The local markets have wonderful fresh fish, shellfish, vegetables and fruit if you wish to dine at home or take a picnic to the beach.
Wine here is also great with a wide variety of styles and prices. Cava tasting is a must!

Activities for children: The local autority in Begur and in fact most of Catalonia are very aware that a happy child on holiday is the key to happy parents.
Almost every evening throughout the summer there will be something for children to do in Begur between 7 and 9 pm. Of course that doesn't mean your children have to go home at that time. In fact most Spanish families are only thinking of coming out at that time. Restaurants are used to children dining with their parents at any time of the night and children are welcome everywhere.
At the park in Begur there are bouncy castles inflated from 6pm, there is usually some 'activities' in the church square and on some evenings dancing for all ages from 8 to 80! Good fun for all the family.
