Human neighbors are friendly, but enjoy the privacy that country life ensures. The numerous animal neighbors are furry, or feathered, and some are approachable; but most are pretty shy. (deer, raccoon, quail, squirrels, skunk, etc...)

New spacious executive studio with custom cabinets, hidden trundle bed, wood floors, exposed beam ceilings, full kitchen, central vac, marble bathroom and shower, new large capacity stacked washer/dryer. Relax on the chaise sofa or window bench seats in-front of the huge granite fireplace.

- "Host was able to return my msgs in a short period of time. Unit was clean and offered a great price. I would stay there again if the opportunity arose. Check-in instructions imply that access should be through the building and unit front doors. Though, we found the unit key in the lockbox at the back door. The unit is described online as 3 bedrooms; it's two bedrooms with a loft that was empty except for a desk. The unit is also described online as having 2 queen beds and a double sofa bed while the in-unit instructions describe a single person fold-down sofa. The sofa is NOT a sofa bed or a fold-down sofa; it has a recliner on each end. A note was left that the extra linens, towels, and washcloths were in the dryer. Though, the items were still wet in the dryer because EVERYTHING (blankets, sheets, towels, and washcloths) were in the dryer as a single load. I had to separate the "bundle" and dry three separate loads. To accommodate our family of four adults (grandmother and 3 adult grandchildren), we bought an air mattress for one grandson, and grandmother slept on the sofa. Otherwise, the unit was clean and conveniently located for our plans."

- "We booked last minute for just 2 nights during the week. Place is cute and clean pictures are accurate looks the same. ?? Nieghborhood questionable yet it was quite and nobody messed with our car/property, so what can we really say. Place is clean and spacious has all the basics you need. Do have 2 small suggestions a sponge 🧽 for kitchen so can wipe down things, and small bar of soap or small body wash would be very nice to have. Only downside real issue is fluctuation on water temperature neither one of us ever got a real hot nice shower. We questioned if due to it is a 4 unit building and maybe all using same line? We don’t know. Overall was nice place 👍"

- "The place met our needs but we had a few bumps. It was raining when we arrived and check in instructions said to park in one of 3 spots in back. Walked through muddy yard to front entrance and found a note inside that parking was the one designated spot in the front. I messaged host for tips on getting the eurocouch upstairs to lay completely flat and did not get a response. There was also only one half roll of toilet paper, with location for extras empty. We were happy to replenish and will likely stay again when in town for work."

- "Beautiful apartment hidden in the trees. Sauna was a great way to relax at the end of the day. We were able to do the laundry that comes with 3 kids. We did have some louder upstairs neighbors but overall the stay was super nice." - "We were disappointed with this stay. My husband and I had a chance to get away from our kiddos for a night- and this Vrbo caught our eye. Looked really relaxing and we were so excited. Unfortunately there were things that were just not great. The listing showed a different couch which when we got there was a leather couch- so totally wrong vibe but whatever… not a big deal. The listing showed a jacuzzi tub and sauna. Sauna worked great- but the jacuzzi tub was a bust… there wasn’t enough hot water so we only filled it up like maybe less than half- had to wait forever.. that we just decided Nevermind… There is no thermostat to control the temp in the unit. While the host was quick to respond to that concern it just felt like that was weird.. and then up till about 11:30pm there was just loud noises from the above unit and lots of footsteps that sounded like stomping- then as we were hoping to get a full night of uninterrupted sleep- and not being woken up soo early in the morning- we were woken up at 6am to loud footsteps all over from the above unit.. This was not a relaxing stay and felt like a cheap hotel with no regulation. Also upon arrival there was a huge spider in the room- the toilet looked unclean and the shower had residue everywhere.. for the price we weren’t expecting this.. Lots of things to consider when renting your home out to others. Hopefully you can make it better for future stays…"

- "My friend and I chose this place for a relaxing weekend away. We were very disappointed in our experience. It was hard to find, very loud, and a little creepy. Hard to find. There was no house number so we had to guess based on the neighboring addresses, there was very little lighting to lead us to the door, not even the porch light, just one little string of lights on part of the path. The path was rocky and treacherous to navigate in the dark. Very loud. This was in no way a “truly private space.” While we understood that this was a basement unit and there would be tenants upstairs, we did not expect to hear every detail of the goings on up there. We heard every pulling out of a chair, stomping of feet, clanging of dish, and every note on the piano (of which there were oh so many). We knew when it was bath time, meal time, and of course bedtime, because it could not be bed time for us until it was bedtime for the upstairs tenants. We could hear specifics of conversations so we assumed they could hear ours. We left our children at home for a weekend away only to listen to the sounds of someone else’s children. It was stressful and disappointing. Calling it a “woodsy retreat” is a pretty big stretch. It was a house in the suburbs. It had a couple of nice trees, but it did not “feel miles away from civilization”. A little creepy. As I did my safety check of windows and doors I discovered that the door separating the two units only locked from their side. There were holes on our side of the door where a padlock had previously been. Super unsettling. We did not feel entirely safe, and I can’t say the axe on the porch helped that vibe. Nor did the lack of window coverings. Especially in the shower. The physical space was nice. It was clean and well furnished. The sauna was great. If it were standing alone, it would have been a relaxing weekend. But as it was, we do not feel like the representation on vrbo matched the reality of the experience. We felt misled by the description and didn’t get much of a response when we reached out to the owners, though they did offer a 15% refund in the end."

Executive suite in a peaceful area, perfect place to relax after a long day. Equipped with everything to make a tasty meal, do laundry and relax. The property is across the way to the water and if you rent the space, you also have access to a dock right on Willow Grove, on the Columbian. Where, you can dock a boat and or fish for sturgeon, salmon and trout (for a fee).

This is a quiet neighborhood near everything. The apartment is 2 bed 1 bath with vaulted ceilings and a ton of light. This upstairs unit has private parking and a private entrance. . Our goal is to provide a place to stay that we would be happy to stay in. Every stay includes a welcome basket of goodies.
After a long day, come back to an amazing deep tissue all over massage in our massage chair!

Welcome to The Kirk! A 1926 original Old West Side apartment building located just blocks from beautiful Lake Sacajawea, situated on a wonderfully tree lined street. There is a courtyard and garden space, complete with a compost. We use toxic free cleaning agents. You will find the neighborhood to be quiet and charming! Inside you will see it is well equipped and even has a dōTERRA diffuser with your own set of essential oils to use during your stay! If you need anything, we live a block away!
The space
The apartment is heated by baseboards and remains quite cozy in the winter months. The mattress is a queen size Stearns and Foster, which came highly recommended for a quality guest mattress, and there is a pullout queen sleeper couch in the living room. The apartment has all new paint, refinished original wood floors, and a fully renovated bathroom. There is laundry in the basement that is coin operated and shared with our community here at The Kirk and The Catlin. You can walk to the lake, charming downtown, the hospital, college, civic circle, library....this is a superb location! If you want to hike in the mountains they are not far, or take a stroll on the beach you can do that too! Portland is 45 minutes south and Seattle is 2 hours north. You can visit Mt. Rainier, Mount St. Helens, Mt Adams, the Gorge…..So many great spots within hours!
There is a NO SMOKING 🚭 policy in place not only in the apartment, but the entire property is non-smoking.
No parties tolerated or loud rambunctious behavior. This is a quiet community with long term tenants.

Studio apartment above a garage, BEHIND the pictured house. Private entrance, off-street parking; 325 sq feet including full kitchen, tub and shower, queen bed (memory foam), dining table, TV. Located on lovely Lake Sacajawea with its tree-filled park. Walk or bike the perimeter (3+ miles) or part of the lake. House is a short distance from the hospital on the opposite side of the lake. Many of our guests are "travelers," medical professionals working on short-term contracts.
The space
The house was built in 1981 from salvage from the eruption of Mt St Helens. Our family had a cabin on the north fork of the Toutle River which was washed away in the debris flow. My dad was eligible for what was then a low-interest loan (8 1/2%) from the government and built the house next to our own home. My uncle had timbered property that had to be cut because of the inundation of ash and he gave Dad permission to take whatever Weyerhaeuser left behind. He knew a guy with a portable sawmill nearby and they milled all the lumber. Then Dad, who was distinctly NOT handy and in his 60s, built the house with the help of a brother-in-law in his late 70s. Incredibly, they pulled it off, and it is now being visited by people from all over the world.
