We will make you feel right at home at The Backyard. This is a downstairs unit. We live upstairs. If you are coming to the Outer Banks to party, shoot off fireworks, and generally make a lot of noise this is not the place for you!! We live in a neighborhood of working people who are not on vacation. We will do our best to respect your privacy and stay as quiet as possible upstairs – just keep in mind that 3 people live upstairs and the normal amount of noise should be expected.
If you are looking for a Motel 6 or Holiday Inn type accommodation - this is not for you. But if you are interested in living with the real people of the Outer Banks - this might just be perfect. We are a laid back, fun family and offer to share our beautiful property with you and we are available to answer any questions you may have about local restaurants, etc. Whatever it is – having lived here for over 30 years – we’ve either done it, or know someone who has!

The Studio is a truly unique and beautiful property, both inside and out. Located in the heart of the village within walking distance to all the harbor front attractions, The Studio is tucked away, shady and private. The multi level patio is nestled among live oaks and cedar trees. After a total renovation in 2022, the interior space features an updated look that is more spacious, more functional and more inviting than ever! The Studio is an adult only, pet free, smoke free space. Smoking is allowed outside.

This building was constructed in 1993 and used for 15 years as a working art studio. It is set back off the road, amidst giant live oak and cedar trees, and sits alongside my home, one of the islands designated historic houses. The two buildings are joined by an open breezeway behind the main gate, but when guests are in residence in the studio, we both have separate entrances on opposite sides of the property. The Studio provides all the comforts of home in a private, quiet and tree shaded setting, with lots of attention to detail. I have tried to make the Studio somewhere I would want to stay, well cared for with lots of personality.

You enter through a totally enclosed multi leveled courtyard space complete with artwork, jasmine, hot/cold out door shower and grill. There are chairs for lounging and a dining table for mealtime. Your parking is right outside the gate. Inside, the studio is colorful, unique and furnished for your complete comfort with one queen bed downstairs, a double bed in the upstairs loft space, sofa, flat screen TV, fully equipped kitchen and bath with tub and shower. There is a desk and office chair perfect for working while away! The Studio provides full linen service.

This is the perfect romantic and private getaway for two. The Studio is located within walking distance of the Coffee Company, Zillie's, the harbor front and all downtown shops and restaurants. We ask that you do not store or charge electric bikes on the property.

All Studio guests are strongly urged to buy cancellation insurance through VRBO. We are an island 30 miles off the coast. Things happen, to people and to the island. The ferry service to the island can be affected at any time in unpredictable ways restricting access to the island. And, we have hurricanes from June through October. Please protect yourselves.

- "Super cute little cottage in Manteo! This was our first time not staying oceanfront but this little town didn’t disappoint. We still spent most of our time at the beach and found the closest public beach access to be about 15 minutes away which isn’t terrible. It was within close proximity to nags head as well so we didn’t have to drive far for eating out/shopping. My only complaint is that there’s no TV in the bedroom and the TV in the living room only picked up a few channels, and the pillows were a little uncomfy. Otherwise was an excellent stay in a super cute location and would definitely recommend/stay here again!"

Unlike most rentals on Hatteras Island, The Green Room does not require a full week rental.

Staying with a large group of friends or family for the week in a big house and want to come early or stay on the island longer and need a more intimate setting? A few additional days on either end of those types of rentals in The Green Room is a great opportunity to extend your stay.

Policies:
RATES: All listed rates are based on a max. 4 person occupancy, with a minimum 3 night stay. Up to 2 additional guests are allowed, for a total of 6 occupants, however, for each additional guest there is a $5 per night/per extra guest fee.

DEPOSIT: A deposit of 50% of the net room rate is required. The full balance of the rental rate is due 60 days prior to the reservation check-in date.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Deposits are fully refundable up to 60 days before the start of your reservation. Payment is due in full at 60 days prior to the reservation date. A 50% refund of the full rental payment is available for cancellations made 59 -30 days prior to the start of your reservation. Within 30 days guests are responsible for the full cost of the reservation, no refunds will be given. Within 30 days of your reservation, booked dates cannot be transferred to later dates. There are NO weather related refunds,except for the case of a mandatory evacuation. Only dates covered in an evacuation order will be refunded. Within 30 days, as long as there is no evacuation order from Dare County, guests are responsible for payment of their booked dates - NO EXCEPTIONS. While we understand that emergencies happen, the reason for cancellation does not change our cancellation or refund policy.

Byrd street beach access in Kitty Hawk is less than a ten minute drive with plenty of parking. All shopping and dining options are within a short bike ride or drive. It's only 0.7 mile walk to the beach (approximately 15 min depending on the pace) and a few blocks away from Mama Kwan's and Plaza Azteca. It's centrally located in Kill Devil Hills. We live upstairs-a family of 3, our son is 5y.o+ our new addition -a mini golden doodle puppy, Skye. You will most likely hear our voice and footsteps. Potential for noise.

How far is the beach?
The beach is just a few blocks away from the house so it is definitely within walking distance, however, we always recommend driving as you do have to cross one busier street. There are several free parking beach accesses within a 2 minute drive. Also, we provide 2 beach chairs, 1 cooler, and an umbrella so it is a bit easier to take everything to the beach via car!

Is There A Grill?
Unfortunately No. The Outer Banks can often times be windy and each year many people on the beach lose their homes due to grill related house fires. For this reason and safety reasons we do not have a grill at our home. :(

Do you have a tea pot?
Unfortunately No :/ But the Keurig can brew a cup of hot water for you to steep tea in!....

We live next to some amazing neighbors who look out for each others home. It is extremely safe and quiet here. There are only houses on one side of the street making it very quiet and relaxing vs other areas in the Outer Banks.

Welcome to our cozy and stylish studio in the heart of downtown Manteo, NC! This beautiful space is perfect for couples or solo travelers looking to experience the charm and convenience of living in one of the Outer Banks' most historic and picturesque towns full of history and rich in culture.
The studio is located in a prime location a block from the Manteo waterfront. You'll also find a variety of unique shops, restaurants, and cafes just steps away from your front door. It's also only 12 minutes from Nags Head beaches.
Inside the second floor 690sqft studio, you'll find a comfortable queen-sized bed and a modern bathroom with an in suite washer and dryer. The living area is equipped with a cozy sofa, smart TV with cable, and internet. The fully-equipped kitchen includes a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and all the necessary utensils and dishes to whip up a delicious meal.
Start your morning watching the sunrise just over the sound viewable from the front of the unit and outdoor areaway.
For your convenience, we provide all linens, towels, and toiletries. You can pull right up to the steps of the building to unload and there are many areas to park including behind the building (my everyday go to), in front, street, and a huge new city parking lot 1 block away. We invite you to your home away from home this season. Our lovely apartment is located in a quite neighborhood set away from the main roads with tons of privacy while still having the luxury of being just a short walk to both the ocean and sound. The apartment is +/- 750 Sq.Ft and offers a master sized bedroom with a king sized bed, a full bathroom, an open floor plan living room with beautiful sectional and 65 inch TV that offers Netflix, a full eat in kitchen, outdoor shower, and a private roof top deck with seating! This deck also has ocean views (please note that we are not ocean front but not far at all!).

Are there any restaurants within walking distance?
Trio Wine Bar is within walking distance of our home. It offers delicious food, excellent wine, beer, and cheese selection, and live music nightly! There are also many OBX well known restaurants within a five minute drive from the home including: Barefoot Bernies, Black Pelican, and Hurricane Mos.

This apartment is one of two in the same building. It is completely private to you and you will have your own private entrance on the top floor, and private roof top deck.

We are available to text, email or call throughout the day with any issues or questions. We will communicate detailed description on how to get into the space and where to park after booking.

The neighborhood is extremely quiet. All lots are around 15k - 20k sq.ft. so you have very nice spacing between homes. Its extremely cozy and you will love all of the natural lighting you get in the home.

All the basics are available a taxi, car, bike and even Uber.

**This home is a duplex style layout, your rental is located on the ground level of the home. The cool thing is there is no one above you except a deck and that deck is blocked off for no use to the other apartment. Your apartment is 100% private for you and not shared with anyone. The other apartment is also rented on Airbnb or VRBO so feel free to reach out to us if you need a larger apartment!

CHECK OUT AND CHECK IN:

- Check In is at 4:00 PM. If our cleaners finish the home early we will send you the check in information as soon as the house is ready. We can not guarantee the home will be ready early or a specific check in time. Please plan accordingly!

- Check Out is at 10:00 AM. Unfortunately in order to get the home ready for the next guest in a timely manor we are unable to accommodate any late check outs. In addition our cleaners do charge infraction fees if they need to wait on guests to leave past 10:00 AM

HOW FAR IS THE BEACH?
- The beach just a few blocks from the house so it is definitely within walking distance, however, we always recommend driving as you do have to cross one busier street. There are several free parking beach accesses within a 2 minute drive. Also, we provide 2 beach chairs so it is a bit easier to take everything to the beach via car!

IS THERE A GRILL?
- Unfortunately No. Due to wind we do not allow grills.

WHAT SHOULD WE BRING?
- Beach Towels.
- Additional coffee and paper products that you may need outside of what we provide.
- Any additional items you may need that we do not provide.

ARE THERE ANY RESTAURANTS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE?
- Trio, our favorite wine and cheese bar is just up the street within walking distance! They offer wine, beer, cheese, tapas, and sandwiches.
- There are many well known restaurants within a five minute drive from the home including: Barefoot Bernies, Black Pelican, and Hurricane Mos.

- Unfortunately No :/ But the Keurig can brew a cup of hot water for you to steep tea in!

Entire first floor apartment 1000 square ft. (Owners live on 2nd floor with Roman a Newfoundland dog). Very private space and both owners and renters have their own entry. Fun spot full of amenities: washer/dryer/kitchen/dining area, 1 queen bed in separate private bedroom. Bunk beds with twin on the top and full sized bottom mattress. Large Flat screen TV in main living area and 2nd TV in Bedroom. Private pool, large grassy yard, under house recreation area with gas grill/ping pong table/corn horn/picnic table/outdoor shower/hammock/beach chairs/umbrella. Semi-Private beautiful Southern Shores beach is 2 1/2 blocks away. Distance to the beach is an easy walk or free parking pass is provided. Sandbridge Beach Bay Getaway is located on the waters of Back Bay and within an easy walk to the beach. It's the best of both worlds! Enjoy the friendly neighborhood, beautiful clean beach, and numerous outdoor activities. Take a scenic stroll from the apartment, surrounded by the bay and enjoy the magnificent sunset over the back bay water and grasslands, all while taking in the surrounding sounds of nature. While the entire apartment is private with private courtyard, private deck, private entrance and not a shared space; our family lives in the house attached and upstairs. We have teenagers and medium sized friendly dog, Lucy. Guests will likely hear footsteps above/stairs, traffic in/out of the house, Lucy barking to greet anyone passing by or coming to our front door.
Outdoor guest space includes a private wrap around patio with chairs and grill. The canal access and dock is available for guest use. Please bring your own water toys or you may rent SUP, kayaks at Surf Adventure. They will deliver and pick up if arranged ahead of time. The pool is not included in the apartment rental and we have a no pet policy.
Sandbridge offers numerous recreational opportunities itself and is located close to the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and False Cape State Park for nature lovers. High season months offer bingo at the fire station, coffee shop, karaoke, live bands and local vendor market shopping at The Baja. A few restaurants, two ice cream shops, small market for groceries and fresh bakery are available in Sandbridge for your convenience. Endless dining options are available just a short drive away in greater Virginia Beach.

Guest access
Aside from their suite, guests have access to the family pool and hot tub. The pool is generally not heated until about mid May. We turn pool heat off when weather gets to cold for heater to maintain heat (approximately October 1). There are chairs, lounge chair, a picnic table and umbrellas inside the pool/hot tub area.

Other things to note
We base our rules on the realty company rules for the weekly rental properties. This isn't a motel/hotel, so there is not maid service. However, the suite will be thoroughly cleaned after each guest leaves.
The guests are expected to:
- wash, dry and put away the dishes
- take the trash to the outside trash bins at the road
- remove sheets and pillowcases from the bed (and sofa bed, if used) and put into the hamper in the bedroom along with all used towels
The bedspread and shams are washed after each guest however, do not put in hamper (too heavy).

These few tasks take only a few minutes and ensure the next guests get into the house in a timely manner.

This is a cozy space in a family owned home! Very spacious with lots of natural light. Great neighborhood, plenty of parking, easy access to shopping, restaurants and tourist attractions. The space is completely private with a private entrance, Florida room, lots of deck space, kitchenette and much more! Perfect for couples!

The house itself is our family's vacation home. The unit is on the ground floor so easy access with no stairs! I live 2 miles away and am down quite frequently but always give guests their privacy.

I would like to reiterate that this unit is on a canal and there is no fence, just a bulkhead. It is not suitable for small children to be in the back so therefore we have it listed as "not kid friendly" for that reason!

I love my four legged friends but this property is "pet free". This is due to the quality of the rugs on the floors..... accidents do happen!!

Cute, spacious,one bedroom , pet friendly apartment with beautiful views of Kitty Hawk Bay. A short walk or bike (included) to the ocean and sound accesses. Outdoor shower is available on the property!! Steps away from the soundside bikepath that host amazing sunsets, and a quick bike ride to restaurants, coffee, and shopping. Huge fenced area for pets with firepit and gardens. All the amenities to enjoy the beach, chairs, bikes, towels, etc.

The space
A fully furnished one bedroom apartment (underneath our home but separate) that has all the amenities for a relaxing beach retreat. There is one television that utilizes AppleTV to use Netflix, and Hulu for entertainment, and wireless internet. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, oven and stove with plenty of cooking utensils and spices. If you don't see it downstairs just ask us! Two beach cruiser bicycles (and a spot to rent more across the street), beach chairs, and beach towels will be provided, as well as, a shared fenced area that will hosts the owner's dogs. Our backyard is large, and is completely fenced in. The book shelves will have games, cards, and even books to help you enjoy your stay!

The living room is a combination
of a queen mattress for two with full headboard,a large set of dresser drawers..eating table,t.v
two window air conditionings..
2 couches and two over head ceiling fans..The bathroom 🚻 and kitchen are right beside the 35x14 foot livingroom..all bedrooms are closed for storage..see photos provided
..you have a private access to the decks ..., and a private entry to your studio 2nd floor....and private entry for parking..

Guest access
access to the 2nd floor by using front or rear steps 🚶‍♂️ this is where you will mostly be..there are decks in the front and sides of the house on the 2nd or middle floor you will be using..

even though there are no bedrooms, there is a dishwasher,
stand up shower with tub..full kitchen

I've tried to enter in several places
that the queen mattress is in the living room ...this rental is big enough space for 2 people and 1 pet or 2 adults and 1 child and 1 pet.
I am hosting a small rental for only 1 guest downstairs on east side..this rental does not share any decks or any room or have any access to the second studio floor...there is plenty of parking for 2 vehicles in a wine glass shape driveway...you might see them watering the garden, taking out the garbage or grilling downstairs.....

as a set house rule....no animal stays in the rental space or on the property WITHOUT THE GUESTS SUPERVISION ON SITE......my yellow lab lives here...if you're allergic to any dogs....don't come here.
