- "We enjoyed our stay at the Willis Street Village Apartments. The place was 2 levels, 2 bedrooms, and was nicely clean and laid out when we arrived. Entry was easy, following the instructions provided. Pre-arrival information was not personal, but accurate and informative. The place had all the appliances promised, and was decorated with a minimalist type of décor. A couple of basics, like a coffee maker and dish soap were not present, but bathrooms & laundry soaps, etc. were available. The place is very well situated for all the downtown tourist activities, with good supermarkets and other stores close by. Bello, the craft shop next door, is very nice. Friday and Saturday nights are quite active and noisy downtown, but the place is recessed from the street, so is surprisingly quiet. The main noise in the middle of the night was from the garbage trucks that came into the business parking area just to the north of the building 3 of our 4 nights, with crashing around of garbage containers, and their music cranked up, though this just lasted a few minutes each night. For restaurants, we enjoyed The Old Quarter, and the KK Malaysian restaurants. And the fun Friday and Saturday night markets on Cuba Street have many food trucks. Overall, we were very happy with staying at the Willis Street apartments."

Directly across the road, you’ll find a Pizza Hut, a dairy at the bottom of the building and a supermarket just up the road ensuring you have easy access to daily necessities. My modern attic apartment is in an historic Villa . Your room has an east, north west aspect so is light, warm and sunny with harbour glimpse and outlook to the hills. The roof window can be open to enjoy the moon and stars. The Villa is within walking of the CBD, restaurants, Westpac sports stadium, the 'Golden Mile' the Te Papa Museum, Parliament and the National Library . Train station, bus terminal only 10 mins walk and stadium right there. Walk home along the waterfront.

The space
Your room: Cosy attic room...king single bed with posturepaedic mattress, cotton sheets and feather duvet in winter.
The under eaves cupboard has room room to hang clothes and parka large back pack or suitcase. There is one basket shelf for clothes. No mould. A panel heater and electric blanket provide extra warmth. in winter. Shower and facilities are a few steps across the hallway. There is a glimpse of the harbour and the room gets all day sun. The whole apt is 80 sq metres and is very warm and light.

Guest access
There is a lift and staircase from ground level up two flights to my apt. There is an intercom system at the front door. There are 6 steps to front door and 4 separated low steps in foyer to the lift. The apartment's open plan living/dining is available to a guest to use. You are welcome to use the dining table for meals and casual laptop use. The table is not suitable for daily business use. Feel free to use the microwave , make a cuppa/freshly ground coffee. There is a space in the refrigerator to store your food. Cooking meals on the hob and in oven is not available. I am happy for you to use plates and utensils for prepared food. I will put out breakfast on the kitchen bench.

During your stay
I will be at home to greet my guest on arrival. I am flexible about the time of arrival to accommodate any travel plans with flights or ferry. I am happy to help with location of tourist sites and have some brochures and a map if you would like them. I look forward to hearing about your day in the city or other travels if you want to have a chat. I respect that you may wish solitude.

The Villa is managed by a Body Corporate. Respect for property and others living in the building is appreciated. Security is a priority. Check-in and Check-out: Our standard check-in time is 3pm, and check-out time is 11am. If you require early check-in or late check-out, please let us know in advance, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Smoking Policy: Smoking is strictly prohibited within the apartment and common areas. We kindly ask all guests to respect this policy and utilize designated smoking areas outside the building.

Noise Policy: To ensure a pleasant stay for all guests, we kindly request that noise levels are kept to a minimum, especially during quiet hours between 10pm and 9am. Please be considerate of other guests and residents in the building.

Parking: While we do not have designated parking spaces, there are public parking facilities available nearby. Guests are responsible for their own parking arrangements and any associated costs.

Accessibility: Please note that our apartment is located on the 5th floor. While there is 2 elevators and stair access, please let us know in advance if you have any specific accessibility requirements, and we will do our best to assist you.

PLEASE NOTE You’ll be in self-contained apartment below our family home. You will probably hear us from time to time, but you won’t see us. We’re always close by if you need help or advice.

Please note we do live upstairs and we have young kids, so you’ll likely hear us rattling around in the mornings and after school.

The property is located in Thorndon, on the fringe of the CBD. It is an 8-10 minute walk from the main train and bus stations and to the Westpac Stadium and a 5 minute drive from the Interislander ferry terminals. It has a sea view from private balcony looking across the bay. Separate ensuite shower and bathroom and clothes washing machine. Kitchen area with hob and microwave. Fantastic walks through the native parkland of Queen’s Park and Tinakoro Hill immediately behind.

The space
It’s a superb centrally located studio flat, easy walking distance to town, with parkland behind and with beautiful views down across the bay. We are at the top of a steep cul-de-sac. Great location if you want to attend events at the Westpac Stadium or just get to know Wellington City and stroll along the wooden decks at the waterfront or else you can escape the town for the lovely tranquil walks along the Northern Walkway up on Te Ahumairagi Hill immediately behind the flat/house, with its spectacular bird life including Kākā, kotare (kingfishers), tui, riroriho and tauhou. These birds also descend to the trees around the flat. Thorndon Swimming pool nearby. Number 14 bus from bottom of our road will take you to Te Papa, the national museum, and to the nice restaurants at Courtney Parade. The number 14 bus will also take you to the beach at Oriental Bay, where there are public changing rooms and fresh water showers. The bus stop is right next to that beach.

Guest access
Please be advised that the property has no available off street parking. We are at the top of a steep cul-de-sac, so walking up the hill can poise difficulties for the elderly or infirm. There are two 2-hour street parking spaces outside, but free to park there longer outside 8am-6pm. These spaces are often occupied by others. Ten minutes walk away free parking is readily available.

We installed a new fast fibre internet connection in mid-July 2019.
