The room has been fitted with white wooden shutters for your privacy which adds a little chic touch as we designed the room to bring the boutique hotel feel to Minster Lovell.

Minster Lovell is located on the edge of the Cotswolds, minutes from Burford, Blenhiem Palace, Caswell House (gorgeous wedding venue) and only 20 minutes from the centre of Oxford. We are conveniently situated for visiting the famous Bibury and Bourton on the Water ( quintessential Cotswold villages) . We are only 40 minutes from Cheltenham, ideal for the races. Soho farmhouse, Diddly Squat and Daylesford are accessible easily from here. If you fancy some retail therapy Bicester designer outlet shopping village is a wonderful day out. There is a public bus stop immediately outside the house and the nearest railway station is Charlbury which is only a 15 minute drive. And of course the latest edition to our area The Farmers Dog (Jeremy Clarksons pub)- a six minute drive away ! Downton Abbey was partly filmed in beautiful Bampton which is just down the road . - "Our first stay at The Nook was so good, we had to return as soon as possible for a second visit to enjoy the beautiful tranquil surroundings and the heart-warming welcome from Vikki & Simon and their family. This time at The Nook was so special; we enjoyed a delicious, melt in the mouth local Lamb Shoulder Pie from The Old Swan Pub in Old Minster, such a quintessential picturesque little village within walking distance from The Nook. Blenheim Palace was amazing as always, we now have an annual pass, so we hope to be back again, lol! Vikki & Simon are really kind and friendly and make your time at The Nook feel so special, everything is spic and span and they always greet you with a smile :-) There is a super-duper shower in the bathroom with lots of settings for maximum pampering lol. Everything in the property is well thought-out and designed precisely. Everything you need is there, and even though there is no hob and oven, there are other ways to cook things, like a microwave and toaster. The kitchen has everything you need to be comfortable. Communication with Vikki was perfect, she made sure we were comfortable and was happy answering any questions we asked. - "The biggest problem is the number of steps to access the property Anyone with any of of mobility problems would have great difficulty The steps are step and it’s an almost vertical descent . A warning should be on the site alerting potential renters of this difficult access If I had known about this I would not have booked this property Also the mattress is probably the worse I have ever slept on. Springs digging into ones hips and shoulders is not conducive to a good nights sleep The kitchen and bathroom are well equipped except for the lack of a coffee maker. This was rectified after a few days. I have some photographs of the steps if you would like me to send them to you "

We have a regular bus service right outside the front door to Oxford and the lovely Market town Witney. Regular trains to London from Long Hanborough and Oxford. We are also about 5 minutes away from Estrelle Manor approx 30 minutes from Clarksons Farm and about 15 minutes from Clarksons new Pub The Farmers Dog.

The Chalet provides comfortable and cosy accommodation for 2 people, perfect for a relaxing rural getaway and remote working alike. It consists of an open plan living/kitchen area, separate bedroom, shower room and separate dressing room. Part of a recently renovated stable block, the accommodation is of high standard, lies on a direct bus route and is only 4 miles from Oxford city centre.

Situated within grounds adjacent to the River Thames pathway and with the historic city of Oxford nearby, The Chalet is an ideal location for a relaxing break.

Between April 1st and September 30th we now provide 'glamping' accommodation on the property, which has created a very warm and convivial atmosphere throughout due to the respectful and considerate nature of our glamping guests. Facilities for the glamping and the flat are, of course, completely separate. Please see our photos to see how The Chalet sits in relation to the site or please enquire if you would like further information.

Due to the global COVID-19 situation, extra vigilance has been given to the cleaning and preparation of the flat for new guests, going beyond our already high standards. If you have any questions concerning the cleaning products we use or anything else, please don't hesitate to ask.

Guests have access to 10 acres of gardens and water meadows leading down to the Thames Path and the River Thames where fishing is available in season. Opposite lies the ancient woodland of Wytham Woods.

Outside the main gate is a direct and frequent bus route to the centre of Oxford, the ‘city of dreaming spires’. The world-famous university is only 15 minutes away. Within walking distance is Farmoor Reservoir, which boasts year round sailing and windsurfing as well as a wealth of wildlife to enjoy. Day passes are also available for trout fishing.

Attractions nearby also include Blenheim Palace, the Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon and Bicester Village. London, Bath and Stonehenge are also within easy travelling distance.

There are several public houses, restaurants and local shopping all within walking distance of the accommodation.

Guests have their own private entrance (the blue door) to this charming ground floor flat and there is a secure lock box. There is space to park one small car on the drive.

The former dining room with original decorative fireplace is now a warm and cosy bedroom perfect for a relaxing break. The bedroom has one double bed, wardrobe, dresser with drawers, antique mirrors, hooks for hanging clothes, two luggage racks, bedside lights and USB ports on both sides of the bed.

The modern kitchen has a double farmhouse sink, designer tap with water sprayer, quartz countertops, hobb/stove top, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer and smaller appliances such as kettle and toaster to make your cooking experience delightful.

There is also a washing machine, clothes dryer, iron, ironing board and foldable clothes drying rack in the kitchen for those who stay longer.

The bathroom includes a walk-in shower, toilet, sink with modern waterfall tap, heated towel rail and it’s fully equipped with towels, hair dryer, toilet paper, hand soap and some basic personal items.

The main living/dining area has a wall-mounted smart TV, two antique desks, sofa which converts into a double bed and plenty of storage space and sitting room. There is a dining table and the seats in the dining area serve as storage for linens for the sofa bed. Near the front door there is a coat hook and large ottoman for storing umbrellas, shoes, yoga mat, etc.

The flat is equipped with high speed Internet, USB ports throughout, HDMI cable, ethernet cable, practical space for working, basic office supplies, first aid kit, sewing kit, selection of family games, insulated picnic bag plus other practical items.

Guests have their own outside patio with table and chairs (and sun umbrella) in the back garden where they can sit and relax or enjoy a meal in the beautiful weather.

Guest access
The entire Witney Hideaway is yours to use during your visit. This cosy ground floor flat is attached to the main house which is occupied by tenants so please be mindful of quiet hours between 10pm and 8am.

Back Garden: The back garden is for the tenants in the main house and guests in the Witney Hideaway. Please be respectful of privacy if the tenants are outside in the back garden. If kids need to blow off steam we recommend they go to The Leys which is close by. We'll soon be creating a separate space in the back garden for our guests so stay tuned!

Parking: Important information to note before your visit.

Width of drive and size of car: The Witney Hideaway is located in an historical part of town and, therefore, roads and drives tend to be narrow. Our drive is best suited for smaller cars.

Guest Parking: For guests, there is space to park one small car either in front of the navy blue door or in front of the white, bay window. Our tenants in the main house also park their car on the drive. If you have a larger car, please consider using the free street parking which is nearby.

Thoughtful Parking: When you park on the drive, please please be mindful not to block in our tenant's car. You can see photos of our drive in our listing to give you an idea of perspective.

Drive is open on one side: We have removed a portion of our stone wall to allow easier access to the drive. There is a small concrete slope where the wall was removed. When parking please do not drive over our neighbour’s drive if at all humanly possible.

How to enter the drive: If you are entering from Corn Street, often it's easier to drive past the Witney Hideaway, turn around at the next intersection then enter the drive from the opposite direction. We have recently removed a portion of our stone wall and made a small concrete slope to make entry to the drive easier.

Accessibility to the drive: Sometimes people park on the street immediately behind our drive which makes it tricky to pull in and out of the drive. We’ve lobbied the local council for years to put double-lines on this section of the road immediately behind our drive but no success so far, unfortunately. We are continuing to work on this!

Lots of free street parking: There is free street parking on local streets (around 50 meter walk from front door) especially on Saxon Way which is the first street on the right after you pass the Witney Hideaway. Please avoid those double lines and use the normal precautions when parking on public streets.
