- "We decided on a spur of the moment to spend a night in Detroit just before Christmas and it is a bit late but I totally wanted to leave a review. We LOVED our stay at the Aleo which is just next door and connected to The Shepard. We felt like we were in an extension of the beautiful art gallery which is within a former church, Every room was so thoughtfully designed and contained multiple pieces of art. The bedroom we stayed in had a view of the sculptures on the property and a very nice deck. The king sized bed was so comfy with crisp linen sheets. We had access to sitting rooms, full use of the kitchen, complimentary snacks and drinks (liquor was on an honor system basis). The grounds contained multiple sitting areas. We definitely intend to return when the weather warms up to further explore the nearby area and revisit The Shepard. Aleo will be a perfect homebase given the proximity to The Dequindre Cut bike path which takes you right down to the Riverwalk."

The way house is situated, it’s a plus for guests! Also HighSpeed Xfinity available for guests ... I need to make correction 1 queen bed front bedroom , twin bed second bedroom . Very private rural location with private access to Metro Park. An “Up North feel”. Lots of safe parking for your boat(s). 10 miles from Lake Erie Metro Park boat launch to fish the river or Erie. Quick 16 mile drive to Sterling State Park. Close to restaurants. Full kitchen and bathroom.
30 minute drive to downtown Detroit or Ann Arbor for sports.

If you’re a fisherman, there’s two dual outdoor outlets for charging, and an outdoor water hose. I have a heated indoor fish cleaning station available, just ask.

I bury the fish carcasses in a location on my property.

Full size fridge/freezer to keep your fish cold or frozen.

I’m often asked about the flooring. The hardwood floor in the main area is reclaimed gymnasium flooring from a local high school.

Aside from the vintage mounts from my great grandfather and grandfather, everything else I have harvested. All but one whitetail mount came from the same property the Lodge is on.
