Guest access
The entire guest house is yours. The driveway is shared so you will have left side of driveway. There may or may not be guests staying in the main house next door. If you need more space, rent both main house and guest cottage together.

Other things to note
The main house on the property is sometimes rented and sometimes is not. You will share a driveway with any guests but will not have to interact if you don’t want. Rent both homes together if both are available.

ONE CAR PARKING ONLY in driveway, extra parking spaces available upon request. Cozy efficiency apartment. Has all the amenities of home with full size appliances. (350 sqft)
Parking right in the front of theFrench door entry..as the driveway is a shared space with the upstairs unit. Parking on the road behind driveways, in front of mailboxes or parking at the end of the driveway so as to block other guest is NOT ALLOWED.
No stairs access.
Cold A/C- Heater (brand new split system wall unit). Ceiling Fan and floor fan provided. Washer/dryer/washing pods provided/free. Full size appliances and fully functioning kitchen.
-Shower only-
Guest have access to WiFi and roku device apps. Be sure to bring your own app login and password information and LOG OUT when you leave. We are not responsible to log you out..other guest may come behind you and use these apps if you do not. This unit comes equipped with a drip coffee maker, coffee, filters, sugar and sweetener varieties and cream. Should you have a preference for a particular brand of coffee or coffee accessory, feel free to bring your own along for your stay.

Outdoor space includes;
Charcoal grill (sometimes I have left over charcoal in the grill left behind from other guest but please come with some or be prepared to purchase at the grocery store). Kayaking/canoe located in the back of the unit on the rack(please return all items to its original location after using). Swings under the trees. Backyard deck with chairs and side table, backyard adirondack chairs located by the waters edge. You may enjoy setting up a picnic area anywhere you would like. Feel free to fish. (fishing gear and bait NOT provided).

The person booking the reservation must be one of the guest that stays in the unit. Booking for someone else is not allowed. It is very important for me to know who is staying on the property and have access to communicating with them through the airbnb app.

Communication
I ONLY COMMUNICATE through the airbnb app. Please refrain from calling or texting unless a major emergency occurs. Please refrain from communication between 8pm-7am. Airbnb guest are important to me but I do prioritize family time in the evenings. Please be mindful of the keys and keypad usage so as to not lock yourselves out. I provide 2 methods of locking and WILL NOT respond to request to unlock doors in the middle of the night.
Note, we are able to monitor the number of guest/pets/smoking at the entry point of the property. (none of our properties have internal surveillance video)
Exceeding the number of guests stated on the reservation or bringing unauthorized pet will be cause for cancellation of your reservation and cessation of your stay without refund as outlined in the Airbnb Agreement.

As with all Vacation Rental Properties, Guests acknowledge and assume their own risk when using the property provided or partaking in any activities listed on the property description. Living in Southwest Louisiana and on a bayou, we encounter wildlife on a daily bases. If you encounter any wildlife such as; raccoons, alligators, birds, squirrels, snakes, fish, please remember that we are in THEIR habitat and environment. Please do not harm or remove them from their natural state. If you see an alligator on the property, they may hiss or look intimidating .. but likely will leave you alone if you leave them alone. I WILL NOT come and remove an alligator from the yard.

Please Please Please remember to take all items that you came with. I do not specialize in shipping. I am not responsible for holding or returning items left behind.

Free on site parking. ONE CAR PARKING SPACE ONLY as the driveway is a shared space with another unit. Extra parking available upon request. Guest will have access to the patio on the bayou and the kayaks/canoe/paddles and life vest. Small Charcoal grill access (please note you may need to bring or buy your own charcoal/lighter fluid as past guests may leave or take what’s left behind). An area with 2 hanging swings. The grounds around the property make for a nice picnic area or just enjoying the peacefulness of our area’s wildlife. If you are a bird watcher, this is the perfect spot to see many of Louisiana's native Birds. (PLEASE NOTE that the property across the street is not available to use. It is private property. Please do not fish, walk on or smoke on neighbors property)

Free on site parking. ONE CAR PARKING SPACE in the driveway , as the driveway is a shared space. Park right in front of the door marked 703 1/2.

If you catch fish and intend on bringing it home that is fine.. but please do not throw bait, fish, any fish parts, boiled crawfish or crabs in the trash cans inside or the outside bins. Anything caught in the water needs to go back in the water for disposal.. crabs, snakes and gators will gladly feed on your discards.
-PLEASE NOTE that the neighbors yard across the street is not included in or affiliated with my listing. Some guest have enjoyed walking along their property or even tried fishing from it.. THIS IS NOT ALLOWED.

1.4 miles from The National Golf course. The National is a Public course that opened in 2009. It is listed as one of the TOP 5 public courses in Louisiana . It was completed with a beautiful club house which includes The Max Bar and Grill restaurant.
The newly remodeled El Tapatio Mexican restaurant is 1.1 miles away and has the best chips and salsa in town! El Tapatio has a convenient drive thru for food or beverage orders of your choosing.
Westlake has many stores including Sampson Discount that come complete with a friendly fast drive thru and hosts many of our locally brewed beer and favorite spirits. A Dollar Tree, locally owned Miller’s Super saver, O'Reilly Auto Parts and an Ace Hardware. Gas stations and an amazing locally owned Anytime Shine Car wash. Our local donut shop, Dino's Donuts, is known throughout Louisiana to be one of the best. Our newest member of the community is "The Daq Shack". This establishment just recently opened and is set up for all your adult refreshment needs.. sip inside while listening to a band or take it to go and enjoy it while sitting by the bayou. 2 Brand new coffee shops have just joined our Westlake family of businesses. Grounded and PT's. PT's also has snowballs and ice cream.

The first entry door can be locked by keypad or key lock. Once you enter the first door there are 16 stairs to the second private entry door. (I recommend leaving the staircase light on when leaving and returning. The staircase can be dark when no light is present)

Although the Cottage is Conveniently located in the center of town, I wouldn’t say we are a “walkable town”. Staying at our Cottage makes it easy to navigate to casinos, local industries or cities nearby.

Creole style Carriage house located in much desired area of Walnut Grove; everything you would expect in a place to call home. Located on 60 acres of natural beauty in the historic heart of Lake Charles and on the banks of the Contraband Bayou. Steps to restaurants and a tranquil park, minutes to downtown and often live entertainment and community events in the picturesque town square. Downtown area offers restaurants, museums and lake front convention centers. Casinos and golfing nearby.

The space
The spacious studio style room has a full kitchen to the left of the double entry doors and across is the queen size bed and desk with sitting area. Lots of light and open room with high ceilings. The private bath is off the bed area with tub/shower, toilet, sink and closet. The upstairs balcony is great for relaxing and getting some fresh air. Down stair is a common yard area for the house where you can often get an invite from the owners to join for food or refreshments.

Your private car is easy to get around and park in the town. Private car services are available for hire if you desire. Walking and biking friendly area.
