You have the whole pool house to yourself . Pool and hot tub are shared spaces ( don’t worry,we would never get in the hot tub with you) but may get in when it is not in use from guests.

With approximately 15 acres of semi tropical paradise for your backyard, you'll feel transported back to a time when Southern hospitality was its finest. Cook's Cottage was built in 1925 by J. Lyles Bayless Sr who purchased the property from the Jefferson heirs in 1917. This cottage was to serve as a home for the cook who prepared meals for employees of the Jefferson Island Salt mine, which was 1300 feet below Jefferson Island.

Beautiful antique cypress house. 2 full-size beds (upstairs bed made only upon request for a party of 2 or when the booking is for 3 or more guests). One bed is in the loft, accessible by ladder only. The other bed is in the studio space below. Bathroom features vintage claw foot tub with overhead rain shower, river stone flooring, blue-green art glass window panes in an old cypress door, and bicycle handlebars and brake levers for towel bars and hooks. Kitchen features 1930s cast iron porcelain sink set in stainless counter atop vintage pine shelves. Cast iron table and bentwood chair set, together with fridge, freestanding stove, dishes and cookware allow for dining in. Living room and kitchen windows feature stained glass artwork. Loft space railing fashioned from pre-World War II bicycle frames adds interest. No TV or radio, just glorious escape.

The balcony over-looks a lit courtyard, with a fountain and additional outdoor seating. To your right is the fish-stocked pond, surrounded by cypress trees, with its solar lit peer. Downstairs is the living, kitchen, and dining areas with another coffee bar, mini fridge and island where the welcome refreshments and breakfast/brunch is served daily. A half bath and laundry room is available for your use. To the back of the house, there is a covered, lit patio which is furnished with an outdoor dining set and living room set. Feel free to pop popcorn, tell ghost stories and/or make s’mores at the fire-pit area. There is a chicken coop which supplies our eggs for each morning, plenty of open space for outdoor games, and activities. The Atchafalaya Suite is tucked away in the front north wing of the main house. It offers a stunning view of the front yard.

This suite includes a full private bathroom and is decorated in blue green venetian plaster walls with blue and gold designer bedding. A plush queen size bed includes sumptuous linens which assures our guests a restful stay.

The space
Adding to the history of the guesthouse, this room is named after Mr. Alphonse Ardoin (a.k.a. “Bois Sec”), the Creole accordion legend who was one of the first guests to stay in the room. The Bois Sec room is located downstairs, directly off of the living room. This room is so close to the stage that you’ll think the band is IN your room, BUT the music normally ends between Midnight and 12:30am—and it’s always good! This room features a “Front Row Window” to the Blue Moon Saloon, making you feel like VIP of the guesthouse!
