- "Upon arrival i was taken aback. There was a tarp on the roof on signs of construction in the front yard. In order to get into the home you have to walk around the house to the back door. Upon entry there were signs of water damage in the ceiling. Fast forward l....had electricity upon check-in but after returning, about 5 hours later the electricity said look for me.....yeah not an ounce of electricity at the residence. The home could really use an update. Aside from the electrcity issue, i felt like i had entered a time warp."

The Old Guaranty Bank building, located at 500 Jefferson Street in Lafayette, LA, was constructed in 1905 and served as the Bank of Lafayette. It's a historically significant building, notable for its Colonial Revival architecture with domed pavilion entrance and ornate details. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It has been transformed into a wedding and event venue called "The Jefferson."

It's currently home to The Jefferson Event Venue & Ton's Restaurant downstairs... and 5 apartments upstairs, including the large corner Penthouse that overlooks the corner of Jefferson & Congress from it's dome. The apartments are a mix of short term rentals and permanent residents.

There is gated parking in the rear of the building, located on the corner of Buchanan St & Congress St. Each apartment is allotted 2 parking spots. Overflow parking is located in the open parking lot next to Ton's Restaurant. It can be found by putting 516 Jefferson St in the GPS.

You will be allotted 2 parking spots in the gated area for your vehicles. You will also have the entire apartment completely to yourself. There are some common areas - mainly the parking lot, stairs & hallway in between the apartment.

This is a multi-unit property: There are a total of three units for rent at this address which includes the front home, a private upstairs studio, a private suite attached to the main house, and a private townhouse in the very back.

All units have private entrances/door codes and a designated private outdoor space. Parking on premises is limited but free street parking is always available. All amenities are provided for guests!

A door code will be sent to you for self-check-in via (Smart Lock) with additional check-in instructions.

Our staff is available to help or offer any suggestions you may need. Check-in and parking instructions will be automatically sent at 2:00 p.m. on the day of arrival.

My home is quiet and convenient. Just 12 minutes from Lafayette. There is another rental room in the same home (Dancer's Dream II).

As per St. Martin Parish, I am required to add 8.5% local school board tax to each reservation. That will be sent to a guest, after booking, in the form of "Request Money".

The space
The bed has a trundle, which is a low bed on wheels, stored under the bed. When the trundle is pulled out, it can be raised to be level with the upper mattress or it can be left at the floor level. We provide coffee and tea 24/7. Bedroom has room-darkening curtains. There is another guest room in this house. If the other room is booked, guests may be sharing the bathroom.
Guests have full access to the kitchen. BYOF (Bring Your Own Food).
Security cameras are located in the common areas of the home.

If you are into nature and country life, this is the place to be. The outside screened porch, you will see birds of many species. Breaux Bridge is 10-15 minutes away which includes antiquing and great Cajun cuisine. If you are interested in the seasonal festivals, downtown Lafayette is 10-15 minutes away. Other attractions include the Bird Sanctuary, Lake Martin, and if you are lucky, you can spot an Alligator! The "Bird's Nest" has one queen size bed, with a private attached full bathroom!
