- "This is just a little east of Moscow in a rural setting. We were impressed by the quietness of the setting. Our hosts were most pleasant. A place to visit and stay again." - "Patch and Deb are some of the nicest people. I love the tranquility of their house and how they give me a warm welcome every time I stay there. Cute cottage home in the quiet, historic Normal Hill district. Close to parks, one block to river views. A few blocks to hospital. 3 blocks to riverside walking trail. 2 blocks from NAIA World Series playing field at LCSC! Easy access to downtown Lewiston/Clarkston. Convenient for the Valley's many recreational opportunities: jetboat trips, sport fishing, hiking, etc.
The space
My home is a cottage-style house from the 1930s. Recent updates ensure all the current comforts. I'm an avid gardener, so the yard, patio, pond, etc are especially inviting in-season.
The property nearly backs up to LCSC property, so I'm as close as it's possible to be for graduations, NAIA World Series, alumni events, the Dogwood Festival, etc. If you're here for any of those events, it's likely to be just as easy - or easier - for you to walk to your events (depending, of course, on health/preferences.)
I'm also well-situated for easy access to downtown Lewiston, with it's small but picturesque historic district, food, and shopping; and easy access to Clarkston.
The nearby hospital sometimes has seasonal or rotational employment, and I'm always happy to host those needing short-term type stays or transitional living, as well. The hospital about 5 mins by car, or a 15 min walk.
Guest access
-In addition to your bedroom, the ground floor bathroom is for your private use.
-You're welcome to use the kitchen/microwave/coffee pot, etc! Make yourself comfy at the dining room table, or in the living room. You are very welcome in the shared spaces, if you want to use them.
-I provide breakfast as part of your stay! I enjoy cooking for my guests! (Please let me know any allergies beforehand, thank you.)
**Long-term Guests,** please note there are some differences:
-breakfast is not provided
-but you're welcome to store your own food in the fridge/cupboards
-you're responsible for your own linens and tidying
-but you'll have full access to the washer/drier for all your needs
During your stay
I work part-time and will try to be available if you need something. I enjoy socializing with my guests, but at your comfort level! My (adult) son lives upstairs, but maintains a fulltime job and busy schedule. You will likely see very little of him.
Other things to note
Remember, this home has a pet: a small-medium dog (McGhee). He's neutered and friendly, but please be aware in case of allergy, preference, etc

We are located about 10 minutes north of downtown Moscow, close to popular hiking and mountain biking trails. You will be in our above-garage studio with a designated parking spot and a peekaboo view of the Palouse. The studio is most comfortable for just two people, but there is an extra queen foam mattress and bedding for the floor if needed. Come enjoy mountain beauty and solitude, minutes from town!
20 min to Moscow-Pullman airport
25 min to WSU
15 min to UI
Dogs welcome. Sorry, no cats.
The space
Our spacious studio is located above our garage, so you have the place to yourself. Our personal house is on the property as well. We have a couple other outbuildings, including another garage, a greenhouse, and storage sheds. We have a large garden, and a fenced orchard where our chickens run free, safe from predators (and curious dogs). We are on 3 acres, with a peekaboo view of the Palouse; the studio has the best view on the property! We are surrounded by trees, grassy hills, and wildlife. Sightings of deer and turkeys are common here! We also have visits from moose, the occasional porcupine, and turn your eyes skyward to see red-tailed hawks and even bald eagles. Snowy prints reveal other critters lurking about overnight, including black bears and coyotes, and neighbors have reported cougar tracks every now and then. Enjoy endless stars on clear nights, away from the city glow.
Dogs are free to run off leash here, but know that our property is not fenced. Dogs must be friendly and get along with our own guy, a 60-pound Aussidoodle who thinks everyone is a new friend!
Neighborhood walks on our tree-filled mountainside streets are hilly, but beautiful and quiet. Head uphill out of the trees for sweeping views of the Palouse.
A 5 minute drive away is the popular Headwaters trail, great for hiking and mountain biking. We are happy to give you directions to other nearby trails also.
Come stay with us, and see why we love where we live!
Guest access
You will have the the entire above-garage studio.
Other things to note
**Winter advisory: we live out of town, mountainside, on a road that gets steeper a you approach our house. 2WD cars sometimes can't make it up here after a snow storm if the road hasn't been plowed yet. If so, you'll have to park about 1/4 mile downhill at the snow plow turnout and walk up. AWD/4WD cars have no issues getting here. Regardless of your traction, please be careful heading back down the hill! We have seen cars of all sizes in the ditch if they took a corner too fast. Better to get to your destination a few minutes late, rather than several hours or even the next day.
Come stay at our guesthouse and enjoy the view from the Old Spiral Highway. A 10 minute drive to town makes our place the perfect blend of peaceful and convenient. There’s plenty of boat parking for sportsmen and we're only 40-45 minute drive from both WSU & U of I campuses. We live next door and are available for any guidance needed during your stay.
The space
Our guest house is only 648 square feet but it has everything you’ll need for your stay. There is a pull out couch with a queen mattress in the downstairs living room. The bedroom is upstairs along with a small loft area. Kitchen, bathroom, laundry and living room are on the main floor.

The space

Atop a two car garage detached from our primary residence, our beautiful mountain guest house is the perfect place to unwind and relax. Located on 10 wooded acres just 4 miles north of Moscow, Idaho, we have breathtaking views of the Moscow Mountain area facing East. Our mountain modern interior is complete with a full service kitchen, generous living room with gas fireplace, and two bedrooms sharing a Jack and Jill bathroom.
The space
Our guest house is just 50 feet from our primary residence so we will be nearby to help with any questions or concerns you having during your stay. It is important that you understand that we will not be wearing masks and may feel compelled to greet you with bare faced smiles in the driveway. We go the extra mile in preparing a clean guesthouse for our guests. The entire place is vigorously scrubbed and polished and we open all of the windows to clear out any stagnant air. Our desire is for your stay to be relaxing and comforting.
Our 1/2 mile gravel driveway is quite steep. While we’ve seen crazy winter weather all months of the year here in Moscow, April through October you should be fine driving up and down in a two wheel drive vehicle. November through March there is always possibility of snow, so AWD and FWD are highly recommended. January and February are typically the heaviest snow months on the Palouse. If you are booking for those months we strongly recommend a vehicle that is good in snow as well as carrying chains. If you have any questions please message me. I’m happy to help you navigate weather challenges.
We have two cautious Mini Australian Shepherd dogs that will bark at strangers but keep their distance. They spend most of their time indoors but you might meet them briefly in the driveway.
This guest house is above a two car garage so you must be physically able to ascend a flight of stairs to get into the space.
We pride ourselves in the relaxing and peaceful setting that we create for our guests. For the sake of our enjoyment of this natural setting and our fantastic neighbors we request that our guests maintain this vibe by refraining from large gatherings or loud outdoor revelry. If you invite guests to join you please give us advance notice of the number of vehicles and people you are hosting.
You are welcome to explore within the boundaries of our property to get photos of wildlife, or the breathtaking vistas of Moscow and the Palouse Region. Out of respect for our neighbors please feel free to ask us about our boundaries and areas that are free to explore.
Guest access
You have access to the 2nd story apartment but the garage area is not accessible to guests. All vehicles must be parked in the gravel driveway away from the garage doors so we can get access some of our vehicles. If you would prefer to park closer we can usually accommodate you. Just let us know.
Other things to note
We have two Mini Australian Shepherd dogs, Frost and Maple. They are cautious with strangers and will bark and keep their distance. If you have any concerns about our dogs please feel free to reach out. They spend the majority of their time indoors so you may not see them at all during your stay however there is a chance you'll encounter them in the driveway while coming and going.
