PLEASE NOTE:
There are two units on this property: the main house and the guest house. Both units are newly built spaces, just completed in Dec 2023. Each unit has their own private driveway and private front entrances so it is unlikely that there will be any, or just minimal interaction, between the different tenants/guests. We do ask that all tenants on the property are courteous and respectful of one another and observe quiet hours between 10pm-7am on weekdays and 11pm-7am on weekends.

We allow up to 12 people maximum in the main house portion. You can also rent the guest house and in that scenario we would allow up to 16 people total between both the main house and guest house. Please inqurie about availability of the main house if this should interest you.

We’ll be happy to assemble the queen size stow-away bed (very comfy) for additional guests when requested.

We're surrounded by beautiful hiking trails and bike paths in case you're feeling a little adventurous.

We can have up to three guests. Enjoy the seclusion and peace of having your own apartment with off street dedicated parking, and awesome amenities. The space
This poolside guest suite is set in an atmosphere as relaxing as any resort. Get that Peaceful Easy Feeling taking walks to the top of the property where one can see over the hills and far away for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles....

Guest access
Guests can park at the end of our street passed the fire hydrant or across the street. They text us a couple of minutes before arriving so I can meet them at those double black gates behind the red mailbox. We give them the lay of the land, introduce them to our two well behaved and obedient German Shepard dogs and walk them back to their quarters; after that they are on autopilot.

Guests have access to the guest suite and adjoining bathroom of the pool house only, as well as the upper and lower parts of the property; both of which lead to the street.

Other things to note
Pool is solar heated and on a salt system meaning no chemicals. No burning eyes. Water is perfect. Though we cannot guarantee any particular temperature our experience year after year without exception for 15 years is essentially this; once it’s warm enough around April/May, we swim in 82+ degree water til just before Halloween.

Jacuzzi is nice and hot but jets and associated blower need replacing. Sorry no bubbles but hot and relaxing none the less.

This is a gorgeous 500 sq foot pool house with chef’s kitchen. Full access to pool, spa, outdoor kitchen and all the various garden areas on 1/3 of an acre. It is a large detached studio great for up to 2 guests.

It’s located on a quiet cul de sac.

If you’d like to have a special event or film on the property, we charge on a hourly basis depending on the number of guests and event type.

The space
The space is like a 5 star hotel room with a chefs kitchen, vaulted ceilings, fireplace and fully hidden sliding doors that bring your living space open to the outdoors. The pool house faces directly to the pool giving you a beautiful view of the pool and gardens.

There is a separate private covered lounge and dining area off the unit where you can relax and dine without interruptions.

The kitchen is stocked with a couple dozen spices, oils, coffee, sugar, creamer and tea. It has a stand mixer, slow cooker, baking sheets, cake and cupcake pans, blender, toaster, all sizes of pots and pans. There are beautiful plates, wine glasses, serving bowls etc.

There is also an outdoor BBQ and bar if you’d like to grill.

Please note that this is a guest house located about 15 feet from the main house. We do keep our shutters closed to give you the most privacy possible.

You will see us, our young daughter and 2 pups around the property.

Other things to note
Enjoy the spa! Just let us know and we can turn it on. It’s available 8am-10pm. We just need about 30 minutes notification to get the spa up to the desired temperature. It’s available for $75/day October through May. It’s free June through September.

If you’d like the pool heated during the colder months (typically October to May), you can heat it for: $150/day for a minimum of 3 days in October, April and May
$175/day for a minimum of 4 days November to March

The difference in pool heat is due to the colder nights November to March & the new gas price hikes with the local utility making it much more expensive to heat the pool. If you’re heating it for a longer stay (5 days or more), we charge $100/day. The cost to maintain the pool heated is less than the initial heating the pool from 50 degrees to 89.

No overnight guests allowed. Daytime guests are limited to 2. The space is most comfortable for 2 guests as it has a queen size bed. We can have another 2 nighttime guests night on a high end air mattress. Additional nighttime guests are $75/night.

The TV has Netflix, Amazon and some other apps. We do not have cable TV.

We have 2 dogs who are very friendly. Zayla is a 2 year old female Husky. Thor is a year old male White Boxer. If you want to bring a dog that doesn’t interact well with other dogs or goes crazy inside the unit seeing our dogs, this wouldn’t be the right place for you. There are no areas for guest”s dogs to go potty on the property, so you will need to walk them in the neighborhood and pick up after them.

Damages caused by dogs to the sliding doors, curtains, furniture or anything inside or outside the unit on the property will be charged to the renter. Dogs are NOT allowed to be left unattended in the unit. If you leave the property you must take your dog with you or bring a kennel to place your dog inside it. Excessive dog hair on floors, furniture, bedding, counters, etc. will be charged an extra cleaning fee of $150 or more. We do have a small vacuum, broom and dust pan in the unit.

NO cats or other animals are allowed. Dog Breed restrictions apply. We may accept up two dogs with prior approval.

There is no laundry in the unit. If you need fresh sheets and towels, just let us know and we can provide them for you.

This is a residential neighborhood and we ask you be a good "neighbor", too, when it comes to noise, parking, etc.

If you’d like to have a special event, do commercial photography or film on the property, we charge on a hourly basis depending on the number of guests and event type.

We do have a strict cancellation policy. We recommend guests who are uncertain about their stay purchase the very affordable Airbnb travel insurance. Travel insurance in general is a good investment, as life is not always certain.

Welcome to Casita del Sol, a charming two-bedroom, two-bathroom standalone guest house on the West-end of Simi Valley, a quaint and peaceful town. A short distance to local restaurants + shopping, and the Ronald Reagan Library and just 45 minutes from Los Angeles, Ventura or Malibu, Casita del Sol is a modern contemporary home perfect for a mini staycation or a long vacation. Relax, unwind and dine al fresco on your very own deck with garden views.

The space
You'll have access to the private, standalone guest house and backyard via a separate driveway & gated side entrance. The 900-square-foot casita boasts two primary bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms on either side of the house, with the open living room and full-service kitchen in the middle and French doors leading to the front patio. Adjacent to the kitchen is a stackable washer/dryer and pantry with toaster and Keurig coffee maker. Amenities include split AC/heaters in each room, an expandable four-seat dining table and an air mattress that can be set up behind the couch (upon request, or for parties of 5/6 people). The French doors are the main entrance and open to the wraparound deck facing the expansive (shared) well manicured garden. A BBQ on the side of the deck is available for guests. Work remote or bring family and friends to enjoy the Southern California sun.

We occupy the main house at the front of the property. The lot is separated by a large backyard with meandering walkways, drought-tolerant plants and a gorgeous flowing fountain.

We're happy to meet our guests, while also providing privacy and tranquility during your stay. Enjoy quintessential Southern California living at Casita Del Sol!

Parking is in front of the trailer on the left hand side driveway. Enter through the side gate marked 1209. Walk down the garden path and arrive at Casita Del Sol. You have access to the entire casita guest house, private deck and garden.

Other things to note
No pets are permitted. We do have two small mostly indoor dogs (The Boys) that have access to the shared backyard frequently during the day. They do bark occasionally, but they mean no harm; and love meeting our guests. Please leave the side gate closed at all times so they don't wander out front. Let us know if your party has any issues with dogs.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for drugs of any kind on our grounds, including medical marijuana and smoking, and you'll charged a 'deep clean' fee for any waste or odor upon your departure.

We have a 'no parties' policy in place, however we're open to you hosting intimate gatherings with formal notice in advance of your stay (we've had guests host celebratory brunches and dinners, and bridal parties put wedding bouquets together). If you host, please clean up afterwards and dispose of all trash in the bins near the gated entrance.

Accidents happen. If an item of ours becomes damaged or broken, please notify us immediately so we can replace it.

Our longtime house cleaners take pride in their business, and we ensure our casita is well-sanitized before and after each guests stay.

This home is just minutes from shops, dinning, and freeway access. Great for short term and long term stays we offer anything you might need during your stay.

The space
Recently built in 2022, Casita Azul has a modern, stylish and comfortable interior design. All new appliances and fully stocked kitchen that will help you create your best meals. Washer and dryer is conveniently tucked away by the kitchen with added storage space. The two spacious rooms come with queen memory foam beds and plenty of fluffy pillows/blankets. The living room has a welcoming look that invites you to sit down and enjoy your favorite show or do some work on the added work space. The modular couch easily turns into a queen bed to fit any additional guests which we will provide extra sheets and blankets as needed. Each room has an individual AC/ heater unit so you can control it for your desired temperature.

Guests can access the guest house just the the right of the main house. Street parking is available and we usually leave a spot right in front the gate on the right. The gated entrance opens up to a newly paved walkway the leads you the main entrance of the guest house. Guests are provided with a personalized entry code for the electronic lock. In case of any issues, there is an additional lock box with an extra set of keys which we can provide the code for upon request.

My parents still own/occupy the main home and I help them with renting it out. We are a big and close family with 4 children and several grandkids. Although my parents are becoming empty nesters, we regularly visit them. My dad spends a lot of time in the garden and is always happy to offer anything he grows.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire Guest home including all the amenities the front and the back of the home has to offer. You will also have access to the basketball court that is located in the front by the parking area if you wish to play ball.
**** NOTE: The Pool is NOT HEATED. The pool can be heated for an additional charge of $250 per day, with a 3 day minimum required from November 1 thru May 31, as it is a very big pool, which takes time to heat and is costly. *Heating the pool without prior consent or paid fee will be subject to pay $250 dollars per day. Thank you for understanding.
***NOTE: Dogs are NOT ALLOWED. We love our furry friends but unfortunately, our daughter is allergic to dogs. If a dog/s arrives with you during check in or dog hair is found after checking out. We will be applying a $150-dollar fee per day per pet which will cover the sanitizing and steaming fee of all furniture. Thank you for understanding.
