Welcome to our new 280 sq ft guesthouse, thoughtfully designed for an extended stay, perfect for one person. The exterior boasts a warm Spanish vibe, complemented by a dedicated outdoor area and a charming garden to unwind in. Inside, the space is bright and a true testament to design, with details and character throughout.
The space
The kitchen is equipped with all you need: a mini refrigerator, a two-burner gas stove with an exhaust fan, garbage disposal, and a reverse osmosis water filter. Anthropologie dishware and knives by Henckles. The countertops are white quartz and there is an array of small appliances - coffee maker (Nespresso, drip and french press), grinder, blender and toaster. We provide initial coffee and filters, ensuring you have a seamless start to your mornings.
As you step into the bathroom, you'll be greeted by black Kohler fixtures, and a bidet toilet that offers convenient wash, dry, and seat warming functions. The shower is a treat with its skylight, and you'll find both a hand shower and a fixed shower head for added convenience.
To ensure a restful slumber, we've invested in a new full/double-sized Leesa Original Hybrid Mattress. This mattress features a responsive top foam layer that contours to your body, offering comfortable alignment and a deeper sleep experience.

Our guesthouse is rustic and cozy. It's a detached house situated in our backyard, with a patio, fire pit, and grassy yard. Our neighborhood is called The Historic Highlands. It's exceptionally safe, and there are sidewalks all around for walking. Parking is off street in our driveway. At night, if you’re lucky, you may also be serenaded by our local “coyote chorus” who live in the nearby golf course!

Our private, 650 square foot bungalow has its own entrance with free parking, so you can easily come and go as you please. It features a single bedroom with California King bed, a living room with a full-size pullout sofa. There's an additional twin bed in the back area, so we can easily host 4 people! The space also features a cozy, modern kitchen, plus a washing machine so you can do laundry if needed.
The space
We would be excited to host you in our private and spacious bungalow. With over 650 square feet, you'll have plenty of room to stretch your legs. It's located at the back of our property with it's own alley entrance and parking so you'll have plenty of privacy during your stay.
There is WiFi throughout and works equally well inside and out. Need entertainment? Use the 50" smart TV to sign into your favorite streaming service. You can also switch to the digital antenna to watch over the air stations, or use the DVD player to watch a movie — we have lots of movies to lend...just ask.
The kitchen features a two burner stove, convection oven, coffee maker, mini-fridge, and all the pots, pans, and utensils you would need to cook full meals. If you need to do any laundry feel free to use the washer and dryer — we provide laundry detergent pods too.

You'll have access to the entire 650 square foot space all to yourself. Generally, check in is anytime after 3pm and checkout is 11am. Please check with us if you need adjustments, we may have flexibility.
You're welcome to use our backyard, however if you choose to use it you'll be sharing that space with our two dogs. Please, no smoking inside the guesthouse.

The space
Our guest house is a welcoming, self-contained building, with private access and off-road parking, detached from and set to the side and rear of the main house. It comprises a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and 3/4 bathroom. Your hosts personally clean all areas between stays, so you can rest assured that everything will be sparkling.
The cozy living room is a lovely place to relax. It has a bed-settee (please say if you wish to use as a bed - note: suitable for small adults only), two comfy armchairs, a window-mounted air conditioning unit, central heating, TV (Netflix, Amazon Prime and Paramount+ included), and a baby-Grand piano (should you be feeling musical!) Hundreds of books line the walls, please feel free to browse and dip in to a volume or two during your stay.
The bedroom has an upright piano (not tuned), a walk-in closet and plenty of useful drawer space. Here the full-size bed is permanently made up, with a memory foam-topped mattress and freshly ironed bedding. (Note: there is no door between the living and bed rooms).
The large kitchen overlooks the back garden, and is fully equipped with a gas oven, four burner gas range, microwave, full-size fridge/freezer, kettle, drip and Keurig coffee makers, table, chairs, and full kitchenware.
A small, private patio area to the rear of the property makes an ideal spot for breakfast and to unwind in the evenings whilst enjoying the birds and butterflies in our native plant garden.
WiFi is available, and guests are welcome to use the washing machine and dryer outside the main house by arrangement.
NB: We have two medium-sized dogs who like to sit in the garden during the day, but they never enter the guest house or back patio.

Please be cautious when entering/exiting the driveway, as the kerbstones are quite high (see photo).
There is parking on the driveway for one car only, no daytime on-street parking, except weekends.

To ensure the highest standards, Laura and Gavin clean the guest house themselves between bookings. The guest house then remains empty with the windows open, unless the weather is very hot, when we will leave the ac and fans on.

Remodeled in 2022, this craftsman cottage is cozy yet includes all the modern comforts for today's travelers. With high ceilings and wood flooring that runs throughout the brightly-lit guest house, this is a better stay than any hotel in Pasadena. Blackout curtains provide darkness and extra sleep privacy. Bedroom has its own climate control (Air Conditioning / AC and Heater) and overhead fan that can both be controlled remotely.
LIVING ROOM:
Seating for five around a flatscreen TV with guest access to various streaming platforms. The sofa easily folds down to a full-sized bed that is great for one adult or two children. The media center has various board games, a record player with music to enjoy. Separate AC/Heater unit with remote controls for easy access.
KITCHEN:
Includes a ZLINE gas oven and range, spacious refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher, and a sink with disposal. All essential cookware is provided in drawers and upper shelves and there’s plenty of storage space to house groceries and other essentials. The dining table can be easily folded up or down to provide extra room. French doors lead out into the garden patio and left open for extra light and breeze.
BATHROOM:
Tiled shower, vanity and toilet with fresh, clean towels and essentials provided for your use. Extra storage inside the vanity for all your bathroom items.
LAUNDRY:
Washer and Dryer unit included inside the living room closet with detergent for you to use. Collapsable ironing table and iron also located inside.
GARDEN PATIO:
Spacious private patio with table and chairs for your enjoyment. Sweet jasmine blankets the cottage and a peach tree provides extra shade in the hotter months and fresh peaches in the summer!
PARKING:
One parking spot in the home's driveway is included. There is ample street parking with no restrictions during the day. Overnight street parking is available for a small fee to the city which can be easily purchased through a phone app.

Come and go as you please. The cottage is accessed through a private entrance through the driveway gate marked with the address “1122.” One set of keys will be provided in a lockbox near the front door so you won’t have to deal with clunky app-controlled locks ( let’s keep it simple ;-). The access code will be sent via email after the booking is confirmed.

2025 PASADENA WILDFIRE INFORMATION:
Our neighborhood of Washington Square Park was fortunately untouched by the wildfires the occurred in early 2025 and is back to the way it was pre-fire.
I have ensured that all interior areas have been cleaned of any smoke and ash and industrial purifiers were use to ensure a clean air environment for guests.
I live in the main house in front and occasionally use the backyard near the cottage.

We are a 10-minute walk to the Lake Gold Line Metro Station, where you can catch the Gold Line to South Pasadena and enjoy Mission Street's shops/restaurants, take the Del Mar stop where you can take in the famous Rose Bowl Flea Market (2nd Sunday of every month), take the Union Square stop to experience Olvera Street (margaritas, anyone?) or a delicious French Dip sandwich from Phillipe's. Downtown Pasadena with it's wonderful shops and restaurants is a mere 5 minutes away by bike or car (or, for those of you who enjoy some exercise, a 30-minute walk).
We have two adorable dogs. They never have access to the cottage, however, so it is allergen/pet free. During your stay, we happily keep them in the house and only let them out to do their business in the front yard of the main house. You might hear the occasional bark, as they love to protect their homestead. But, most likely, you'll never hear them as the cottage is a comfortable distance away. BTW they are friendly and love meeting new people!

The cottage is situated some distance behind the main house, so you'll be able to enjoy a lot of privacy. The backyard is yours to use during your stay, including the outdoor dining area, outdoor sofa, chaise lounge chairs, fire pit, and swimming pool. Relax and enjoy!!

The Community Fee we charge is for the TBID/Tourism tax the City of Pasadena collects quarterly for each Airbnb stay. Unfortunately, Airbnb does not collect it directly from our guests like TOT taxes, so we must charge a separate fee. Thank you for understanding!

Cozy traditional 1920s California bungalow, complete with a Batchelder fireplace, tucked behind the main house built in 1903 by famed architect Frederick Roehrig.
Centrally located off of Orange Grove Blvd. Walk to the Rose Parade, the Arroyo Seco, Huntington Hospital, Art Center South Campus, and Old Pasadena.
A brisk walk will take you to the Rose Bowl, Gamble House, or the Wrigley Mansion. The Huntington Library is only a short drive away.
The space
Guests need to be dog lovers. We have 2 Labrador Retrievers, Gus (chocolate lab) and Lloyd (yellow lab) who joined the family during COVID.
They are very friendly and do play in the backyard.
The guest house is located at the back of our property. We live in the main house, so you will see us coming and going, although you will have your privacy. We enter through the same side gate.
Since COVID, we have split office time between our home setup (in the carriage house across from the guest house) and our office in Old Pasadena.
Guests do need to walk down a couple of steps once they pass the pool before reaching the guest house. The guest house has a couple of steps on the porch and an outside sitting area off the bedroom.
If you want to entertain, please talk about it with us before extending invitations. We love visiting with family and friends; we like to be aware of who is coming and going.
While we love children and have three adult children, this location is unsuitable for young guests.
Guest access
Driveway and parking: Off-street parking is available at no charge. We have a driveway gate that is opened manually. If you find it closed, it's very easy to pull it open.
Fruit trees: In season, lemons, limes, avocados, oranges, and grapefruits can be harvested from the backyard trees.
Pool & Jacuzzi: The pool and jacuzzi are not available to guests.

Our property is not a match for children.
Cleaning:
Upon departure, if the guest house is left in a state requiring extra cleaning, such as powerful smells from cooking, a filthy stove, etc., a $250 charge will be incurred and billed through Airbnb.
Owner Use:
The guest house is at the back of our property, across from the carriage house.
The carriage house is used as an at-home office and woodworking shop. The upstairs is used for entertaining, especially when our adult children are home.
Note: As of July 1, 2023, the city of Pasadena has implemented a new assessment (tax) on short-term rentals. You will note that an additional 3.89% will be added to your billing under "resort fee".

Front yard: The front yard is shared in that the tenants in the main house will use it to access the main house from the garage. The tenants won't use the amenities in the front yard.
Security camera: There is one security camera in the alley leading to the front door of Lunas guesthouse. Other cameras, such as the one in the yard and the ring camera on the door have been deactivated.
EV charger: Please note, we DO NOT have EV charging capability on the property. Please plan charging your EV accordingly.
Guest access
Guests have access to the front yard. Guests do not have access to the garage, which is used to store supplies and is occupied by the tenants in the main house. The front yard is shared in that the tenants in the main house will use it to access the main house from the garage. The tenants won't use the amenities in the front yard.
Other things to note
PETS: As of today, we allow one house-trained and neutered pet per stay for a pet fee of $150. Service animals are always welcome and do not apply to the pet policy below. If you have more than one pet that wishes to join the trip, please reach out to host for details. Please communicate immediately with us any damage or things worth noticiting related to your pet during your stay, so our maintenance team can be prepared and get things ready for the next guests. It is what it is and we just hope to do whatever we can to minimize the impact to the next guests before they arrive. Meanwhile, we can work together to find the best solution. Most of the times, these will be covered under our insurance or platform insurance so please do not worry about that. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Pets are allowed on the premises of the vacation rental subject to the following conditions and restrictions:
1. Guests are required to disclose the presence of any pets prior to booking the vacation rental. Failure to disclose pets may result in additional charges or cancellation of the reservation.
2. A maximum of 1 pets are allowed per reservation. Only domesticated pets such as dogs and cats are permitted. Guests must provide information about the breed, size, and age of their pets.
3. Guests are responsible for the behavior and well-being of their pets at all times. Pets must be under the control of their owners and kept on a leash or within a carrier when outside the vacation rental. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INJURY CAUSED TO AND BY YOUR PET.
4. Pets are not allowed on any furniture, including beds, sofas, or chairs. Guests are responsible for bringing appropriate pet bedding or crates for their pets.
5. Guests are required to clean up after their pets both inside and outside the vacation rental. Waste bags or scooping tools must be used to remove pet waste, which should be disposed off in designated trash containers.
6. Pets should not be left unattended in the vacation rental, NO MATTER if they are in a crate or confined to a specific area approved by the property owner. Excessive barking or any other disturbance caused by pets may result in eviction from the premises.
7. Guests are liable for any damages caused by their pets. Any damages, including but not limited to scratches, stains, or odors, will be assessed and charged accordingly.
8. The vacation rental owner or property management company reserves the right to deny entry or request the removal of any pet that is deemed aggressive, disruptive, or poses a threat to the safety of other guests, staff, or property.
9. An additional pet fee per pet may apply. This fee covers the cost of extra cleaning and potential damages associated with pets.

Please let us know if you would like to check in early/checkout late.
Guest access
You can enjoy the entire 560 square foot guesthouse space all to yourself. You're also welcome to use the outdoor dinning area in the back and the playground if you have little ones. Please note that the backyard is shared with my family including our three boys.
