- "Our family stayed here over a weekend in March, 2 couples and 2 kids and this cabin was perfect. We walked in to an immaculately clean cabin and a cute welcome basket. The cabin is just 5-7 mins to Lake Arrowhead Village and walking distance to a little grocery mart for any last minute items you may have forgotten. It was stocked with everything we needed for our 3 day stay, and we slept super comfortably cuddled up with all the blanket we could crave. Loved spending the evening against the light of the fireplace and note its is Christmas decor, but it was so charming, like stepping back in time. Also bonus for our family was the private backyard which was packed with soft snow so my kids played back there for hours. Our host was friendly, communicative and super easy to work with. We would definitely recommend this to any small family and would be back again."

When you enter the cabin you will find yourself in the gorgeous, inviting living room. The large floor to ceiling stone fireplace and original wood-beam ceilings instantly greet you and set the stage for quintessential "cottage-core" ambiance. The leather sofa and oversized armchair are accompanied by plenty of soft throw pillows and blankets –– ready for you to sit back and relax! The entire room is perfectly curated with new designer furnishings, including a Samsung Frame TV, mixed with some of our favorite vintage finds.

Next to the living room is the beautifully renovated and fully-stocked kitchen, well-equipped with all the spices and cooking utensils you could need to prepare a delicious meal with your loved ones. Freshly-filled ice trays in the freezer and a complete barware set ensures that any hour can be cocktail hour. Enjoy your meal around the large rustic-style kitchen table overlooking the front deck and pine trees. Pass through the mudroom on your way to the back patio and be sure to take advantage of the full-size washer and dryer that are sure to make cleaning-up easy after a long day of playing in the snow or hiking the trails.

At the top of the stairs you will find the inviting and serene bathroom, featuring the original shiplap from 1946! Bathe with the thoughtfully selected vegan soaps and lotions and finish up with a full-size hairdryer, all provided so you can just show up and relax. In the primary bedroom you'll rest easy in the comfortable queen size bed with plush bedding on an antique iron bed frame. Unpack and stay awhile with a full dresser and a generously sized closet - which is also big enough to stash your suitcases in and check out your outfit in the full length mirror. The second bedroom has twin size bunk beds with memory foam mattresses and a trundle to sleep a total of three. Plus, an oversized pack-n-play with bonus mattress pad and fitted sheet are included if you're traveling with a baby or toddler.

Our home is nestled among so many gorgeous mature trees that sparkle in the morning dew and calm your mind with the relaxing sound of mountain breezes gently blowing through. The enchanted treehouse vibes abound when you take your meals on the back patio nestled within the massive pines, or unwind with a cup of coffee or glass of wine on the elevated front deck - overlooking the scenic view in total peace and quiet.

Three Things to Know About Our Cabin:

(1) @toadstoolcottage is small but mighty! The entire cabin is only 860 square feet, but the floor plan does make it feel bigger than it is. Because of its petite nature, the cabin may feel a bit intimate for more than 4 adults - but 5 guests can sleep very comfortably, and the couch is not a bad option for a 6th!

(2) Our cabin was built in 1946 which means it is full of character! When remodeled in the fall of 2020, much of the original craftsmanship was intentionally kept to preserve the quaintness and authenticity of the cabin. You may catch glimpses of the age of the cabin in some of the floorboards and the original shiplap. We consider these features and quirks to be well-earned badges of honor and a testament to the home's steadfastness and vintage soul.

(3) Sitting at an elevation of 5,650 ft - our cabin is PURE MAGIC during the snowy winter months; but it can require a little more planning, awareness, and an extra adventurous spirit. A 4-wheel drive/ all-wheel drive vehicle is REQUIRED to stay at our cabin during the snowy months.

Our cabin is two floors, and the stairs are steep. There is a portion of the staircase that can be dangerous for small children. We provide a baby gate that can be placed at the top or the bottom of the stairs. Additionally, as part of the home's original design to allow heat to radiate upwards from the furnace and fill the home with warmth in the winter months, the floorboards of the upstairs also act as the ceiling surface for the downstairs. There is a pass-thru vent strategically placed in the floor of each bedroom to facilitate air flow, with the primary bedroom having the larger one. This systems works well to keep everyone cozy, and little ones will enjoy playing peekaboo between upstairs and downstairs. However if privacy is a concern, the floor vent in the primary bedroom can be easily covered with a pillow - which can also dampen any extra extra noise. There is also a convenient space heater in the primary bedroom you can use to stay extra toasty if desired.

Snow Season:
Every year is different, but snow season is generally from November to April in Lake Arrowhead. We provide sleds that can be used right outside the front door or on the gentle slope of the backyard when there’s snow. There is a comfortable amount of our property that surrounds the home, but please be mindful and respectful of our neighbors' property lines where marked.

During snowy conditions we do REQUIRE a 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle. Our neighborhood, like all mountain neighborhoods, can get very icy/slippery when it snows and 2-wheel drive vehicles, even with chains, WILL NOT MAKE IT to our cabin! You are responsible for checking road conditions and planning accordingly. Please monitor weather conditions closely, and make sure you are equipped to both reach and leave the cabin safely within the established check-in and check-out times. We will try to help you in any way we can from our remote position but know that ultimately your hosts are not liable for the whims of Mother Nature.

Our road is plowed by the county, but you may need to shovel the driveway during heavy snowfall. Snow shovels and road salt will be provided.

During severe winter storms, there can be downed tree limbs, road closures, and power outages. Be aware that it can be difficult for workers to restore power, clear roads, or reach the cabin for repairs. If you choose to book a stay during the snowy months, get your adventurous spirit ready. We provide rechargeable flashlights for our guests in the event of a power outage. Start a fire in the fireplace, bundle up, and stay cozy reading, playing board games, or working on a puzzle while you wait for the power to turn back on.

Southern California mountains are notorious for year-round wildfire risk, and fire safety is top priority. It is illegal to have any outdoor fires other than a gas firepit or gas grill used under responsible supervision.
Our fireplace in the living room is functional and wood-burning only. Chopped wood is located outside near the front steps in a covered rack. Please only use the fireplace if you already have prior experience using a wood-burning fireplace, as an improperly-tended fire can quickly generate toxic smoke that can fill the house and pose serious life-threatening health risks. The home's gas forced-air heater works very well and is easily controlled by the Nest thermostat next to the couch. Battery operated flameless candles are provided at the fireplace to simulate the romantic and comforting glow of a flickering fire. It's preferred if the fireplace is only used in the rare event of a total power outage that renders the heater temporarily inoperable. If used, the fireplace should never be left unattended until the fire is completely extinguished. Never allow children to be unsupervised near the active fireplace, nor should children ever be allowed to play with fire.

The upgrades to this cabin are high quality and have a very nice touch throughout. The kitchen was great to have and well-stocked. We were able to cook (plenty of organic spices available), which was fantastic, especially for breakfast. Listen to the information in the listing regarding getting to the cabin; in the Winter, this would be no joke. :-) Plenty of privacy, quiet, and cute. Loved being there. We had one very minor issue, only because we stayed during a truly unusually warm few days in the mid-90s. The listing mentions air conditioning but doesn't mention that it's only in the primary bedroom. The downstairs and second bedroom were definitely warm. There were several very powerful, very nice fans, which helped significantly. Michael was so, SO fantastic in getting back to us with any questions we had, and we were so thankful for their help. Enjoy being there -- we would definitely look to stay here again if we're in the area in the future."

My family and I were looking for a cabin to go for the 4th of July and enjoy the fireworks everything was pretty much booked to no get a great view of the fireworks. When I was searching I came across this beautiful cabin and to our surprise we were able to book it on a short notice thank god.. when we got to the cabin and walked in it’s was an amazing place from top to bottom it has a old style but a twist on modern style has well and we had a great view of the fireworks and air show.. my family had a blast and everything you need was there for you to use and when I go back I will most definitely e booking this place.. thank you Carlos for welcoming my family to your amazing home.."

CHECK-IN TIME: 4:00 PM / CHECK-OUT TIME: 11:00 AM

Standard check-in time is 4:00 PM on every reservation. Do not arrive early to the property, interrupting our cleaning staff. We will provide you with a code to the lock and the alarm, so there is no need to pick up keys or meet someone at the property. An additional charge will be added for any non-approved late check-outs ($50 per hour).

MAX OCCUPANCY: There is a maximum occupancy of 12 guests at all cabins at Lake Arrowhead (children under the age of 2 don't count). We are unable to allow our guests to exceed this county ordinance and any non-compliance will result in a fine paid by guest up to $500. We cannot allow non-compliance to put our permit in jeopardy.

SECURITY MONITORING: Please note that camera surveillance is used at the exterior and entrance of some of our properties for security use and management of our property. I understand that Arrowhead Retreats may conduct video surveillance of the exterior of its premises at any time, and that video cameras may be used in order to help promote the safety and security of property and guests. I hereby give my consent to such video surveillance.

EARLY DEPARTURE/EVICTION POLICY: NO REFUNDS for early departure and/or eviction in any circumstance.

LATE DEPARTURE WITHOUT APPROVAL: If you have not vacated the premises by 11:00 am without prior approval for a later check-out time, you will be charged $50 per hour.

NO SMOKING POLICY: All of our properties are non-smoking. There will be a $200.00 cleaning fee added if this rule is broken. Smoking is permitted outside only.

PET POLICY: Some of our properties allow pets. The pet fee is $75.00. It is the guest's responsibility to notify Arrowhead Retreats if you are bringing a pet.

BELONGINGS: We are not responsible for any belongings left behind after departure. Please make sure you check for all belongings before you depart the property.

TRASH - We provide trash cans outside the home that we will haul away for you. All trash must be removed from the home at time of departure and put in the trash cans provided.

NOISE DISTURBANCES - Please be respectful of all neighbors. Noise travels easily in the mountains & we require that our guests be respectful of the full-time residents that live nearby. Quiet time is from 10:00 pm - 8:00 am. If we receive any complaints, we will attempt to contact you once to request that you reduce the level of noise before the Sheriff is called. If the noise continues after being warned you may be evicted from the property without any refund.

WEATHER CONDITIONS - Guests are responsible for checking driving and weather forecasts in preparation for mountain conditions at various times of year, including, but not limited to: fog, wind, rain, storms or snow requiring tire chains, etc. We do not refund due to weather conditions, road closures, driver's abilities or vehicle limitations.

THEFT OR DAMAGE - In the event of theft from or damage to the property caused during my stay, I authorize Pacific Properties Asset Management Corporation (DBA Arrowhead Retreats), upon inspection, to notify me and charge my credit card for up to $5,000 to cover repair or replacement of property.

To avoid any additional charges, upon check out:

a) No damage is done to cabin or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear. Cabin is to be left in good condition, just requiring a standard cleaning.

b) No charges are incurred due to damage from pets or smoking during the stay.

c) All trash is placed in outdoor trash cans, and soiled dishes are placed in the dishwasher and cycle started to be cleaned before departure or hand cleaned if no dishwasher.

d) No linens, household contents or kitchenware is lost or damaged.

RELEASE & WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT.

Renter shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless the property owner, its management company, its respective affiliates and partners from and against all demands, suits, judgments, settlements, claims, damages to persons and/or property, fines, liens, losses and other liabilities, including attorneys' fees arising out of or in any way related to your stay in our property and its surrounding land including claims for loss or damage to any property or for death or injury to any individual.

WARNING: Use of hot tub, docks, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, exercise equipment, BBQ’s and/or fireplaces carries risk that may result in serious injury or death, and unsupervised use by children is prohibited. All persons must wear life vests when using a kayak, canoe or paddleboard on the lake. Elderly persons, pregnant ladies, infants and anyone subject to heart disease, diabetes, low or high blood pressure, strokes, epilepsy or similar afflictions should not enter a spa alone and without consulting their physician. Never use a spa, kayak, canoe or paddle board while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If you are taking medication of any kind, or being treated for any illness, consult your physician prior to use of spa. Spa should be kept at a temperature less than 104 degrees for personal safety. DO NOT WALK ON SPA COVER or it will collapse. Supervise children at all times to decrease risk of injury or drowning. Agreeing to these terms and conditions, guest assumes full responsibility for risk of bodily injury, death or property damage.

Must be capable of walking steep steps. There are 50 steps to the first level of the home. This home is not handicap accessible. This is quite common for the mountain. There will be no refunds provided for weather related cancellations within 5 days of arrival, if the road is open to the house the day of check in. The road is regularly plowed to the house during winter snow storms providing great access to enjoy winter in the mountains.

As a note to families with small children, this may not be the most suitable home for you as the majority of the stairs are a bit steep, and the railings on the loft have wide openings. Children should be supervised at all times on the decks.

About the area: Lake Arrowhead is in the mountains at about 5,500 feet. The main highlight is the change of seasons & clean crisp air. The temperature in the summer is approximately 15 degrees cooler than other areas at lower altitudes. In the winter, there is snow. It is incredibly beautiful & peaceful with lots of trees. It is more of a small-town feel with narrow roads in the Villas where the cottage is located.

The Village at Lake Arrowhead sits on the lake. There are shops & restaurants at the Village & the Arrowhead Resort & Spa is close by. The Tudor house is nearby & if you search around you can read more about Bugsy's former gathering place where there is entertainment weekly & they have an excellent brunch.

The second part of the property, with a separate entrance in the back, is sometimes rented separately. There are no shared walls, as the storage area & closet sit between the two spaces.

Guest access
This mountain area has narrow windy roads. Please make sure to follow the sign with arrows to West Victoria Court (not East Victoria Court). The address numbers are on the main post of the stairs as you park in front of the house head in in front of the green parking sign.

Other things to note
The house is a duplex with the second unit behind the house. There are no shared walls as the 2 houses are separated by a closet, hallway, and storage area.

Inside you will find a full kitchen and a dining nook for enjoying home-cooked meals. Just two miles from this rental, Arrowhead Village offers shopping, cuisine, seasonal entertainment, and special events. Find year-round fun for all ages at Santa's Village in Sky Park, only two miles from your front door. Snow Valley offers skiing, snowboarding, and sledding, all just 13 miles east on CA-18. Spring and summer offers visitors various hiking, 4x4, and mountain biking trails throughout the valley. And just eight-and-a-half miles west is the town of Crestline which offers antiquing and additional shopping.

Step back into a simpler time, with this charming 1940’s cabin that has been thoughtfully decorated by an historic preservationist. Come and soak up the mountain atmosphere surrounded by tall trees, crisp clean air, and of course Wifi!
It’s the perfect getaway to spend quality time with friends and family. Lake Arrowhead Village and the lake is just a short stroll down the hill.

The space
This is the mountain retreat that you will want to return to again and again. It’s the perfect place to spend quality time with friends and family.

Park your cars just outside the front door and enter the retreat easily with two small steps to the first floor. Very rare for homes in this area!

Enjoy relaxing in the living room with a view of the mountain scenery or hang out in the loft playing a variety of board games and DVD’s with your loved ones.

If you prefer to spend time outside, relax on the porch swing. Enjoy your morning coffee with the symphony of bird singing in the crisp mountain air.

With a short stroll down the hill you will find yourself in Lake Arrowhead Village, where you can enjoy souvenir shopping, an iced beverage on a patio over the lake, and live concerts in the summer.

Tips and recommendations for your visit:

Mountain climates can be quite variable, we recommend warm, layered clothing and gear. Even Spring, Summer and Fall nights can be cooler than you might imagine. Weather apps as well as the CalTrans Quickmap are great resources for temperatures, road conditions, closures, detours, etc.


Please note the fireplace is not a consistent 24-hour heat source and we ask for it to be used only while attended.

During the winter season and especially if it is snowing, remember to bring your own tire chains. Without them, the California Highway Patrol during winter weather conditions will not allow passage up the mountain. Recommend familiarizing how to install them at your home before starting on your trip.
