Our property is nestled in the quiet Old West Lawrence neighborhood, just 4 blocks north of the KU football stadium and a short walking distance downtown. Drive 2 minutes to Mass street and 5 minutes to Jayhawk Blvd.
Fresh and updated, the studio is a blend of southwestern cabin influence and local charm. The kitchenette and bathroom are new additions.
The space
The lot is vast and green, both the main house (a separate listing) and studio sit away from the street which creates a private, quiet space to enjoy.
The space was previously an unattached artist’s studio which sits next to the main cabin (also rented on Airbnb). On the other side sits the flourishing Old West Lawrence community garden, which all are welcome take a stroll during sun hours.
The place has a private parking spot off of the alley, and street parking is available out front as well. One spot out back is for the cabin and one spot is for the studio.
Built originally as an artist’s studio, the space houses large open windows which filter in plenty of natural light. Sleeping arrangements include a queen bed and a large oh-so-comfy leather l-sectional couch which folds out into a double bed (or just sleep on the couch—we won’t judge). We list the space for 3 but will consider families of 4 with small children. The space has a 43 inch flat screen TV with it's own Amazon firestick for use and Netflix, Hulu, and YouTubeTV subscription which has over 70 mainstream cable channels.
Fairly recently we finished an addition to the space which now houses the kitchenette and bathroom. The space features a roomy stand up shower, radiant heat in all rooms, mini fridge, drip coffee maker, large single bowl quartz sink and acacia butcher block. The kitchenette does not have a stove but we provide an oven, air fryer, toaster and microwave all in one appliance.
Guest access
Guests will have access to entire property and are welcome to walk the neighborhood garden from sun up to sun down.
Other things to note
For our safety and yours, we have a motion detected camera which captures the front door to the cabin and the studio.
No smoking in the house please. Smoking inside the property and/or strong secondhand smoke smell or any evidence of smoking (i.e. cigarette butts or ashes) in or around the house may result in an automatic extra $500 cleaning fee.
Absolutely no parties on the premises. Failure to adhere will result in immediate eviction, and you will be charged for extra guests not specified on the reservation.
Please do not move furniture without asking first.
If something breaks, please notify me immediately.
Stained towels, sheets, or blankets (after being treated and/or bleached and the stain still exists) may be subject to additional charges for replacement.

The “Fox Den” is nestled in the coveted, quiet Old West Lawrence neighborhood, 4 blocks north of the KU football stadium.
Walk downtown and marvel at some of Lawrence’s most historic and beautiful homes in Old West Lawrence, just off of the downtown strip on Mass or stay a little closer and walk the adjacent community garden.
The cabin has 2 bedrooms, one queen bed and one full sized bed, one bathroom, and full kitchen with an ample stocked kitchen, stove, and refrigerator.
The space
The Fox Den is located in one of Lawrence’s most coveted and beautiful neighborhoods—Old west Lawrence. Don’t be fooled by the name; the neighborhood and home is a few minutes from the downtown strip and a short distance to KU football stadium. Walk to breakfast or dinner on Mass and be sure to check out Lawrence’s most unique homes. From Queen Anne Victorians to turn-of-the century “Lawrence, Kansas” brick streets: this neighborhood is a dream.
Bring your tailgating yard games—as we have a lot of green space in front of the house. Skip parking on the side streets and fighting for parking for a KU football game and instead walk to the stadium by stepping out of your front door. From spring to late fall, enjoy a walk through the flourishing and thoughtful community garden or set up a lawn chair on the patio in the evening.
Our charming, cabin-style home was renovated with simplicity and functionality in mind. Built with a cedar exterior, this home has an earthy, southwestern vibes with two bedrooms, one bathroom, fully stocked kitchen with oven, living area with smart TV and Amazon Firestick, and small eating nook. We provide coffee and everything to fix the perfect cup.
The media we provide includes, Netflix and YouTubeTV which carries over 70 channels and all the local channels as well.
The place has a private parking spot off of the alley, and street parking is available out front as well. Next door we have a renovated studio space for rent as well. One parking spot is reserved for this listing and the other for the studio.
The second bedroom is non-conforming and has an adjustable privacy screen rather than a conventional door, and it is conveniently nestled in the back of the home off of the rest of the space. In this room the closet houses laundry amenities--a stackable washer and dryer for guest use.
