- "I have been renting from Karen and staying at this same cottage for a few years now, and I will be doing so for many years to come! Located perfectly just outside of Algonquin, this cottage gives you the perfect sense of being far away from the city with its surroundings, but the ammenities offered will help ensure you have a beautiful - yet comfortable escape. Always squeaky clean and as soon as you walk through the front door - you feel as if you are right at home. The water locale and kayaks that you can use add for an amazing family/friends experince! Karen, is the best host you can ask for. She is very knowledgable of the area, and beyond personable. From the first time we rented from her, she tended to our every inquiry promptly."

- "Nice house, with everything you might need, right next to the wonderful Algonquin park East gate." - "This was the perfect place for our family to stay...so close to The Mad Musher (That has vegan food!) and the park!! It was a great place! Love it! As we were approaching, the neighbors house looked a little scary....but don't let it deter you! Once inside we didn't hear anything." - "This was our first vrbo experience and was pleasantly surprised at how easy this all was. We will highly recommend this listing to others visiting Algonquin. We were 5mins from the East Gate which allowed us more paddle time vs driving time. The only disappointment - if you can even calll it that, is the river near the house was more like a rapid so paddling it was not possible. But dont stress this the lake is only a minute drive away so really not a big deal at all. Were able to store our boats in the garage overnight. The owner (Stefanie) was friendly and answered our questions quickly. Very clean and comfotable stay."

This is a glorious cottage property facing west onto Lower Hay Lake. Literally at the "end of the road" the property has 200 ft frontage and is surrounded by crown land to the west, north and east. There are fantastic sunsets from the deck and the dock.
The main cottage has been completely rebuilt over the past decade and features an open concept living and dining room, a recently installed new kitchen and a screened-in porch large enough for comfortable chairs as well as a second dining area. There are two bedrooms (queen beds) one with its own deck and views over the lake. The new bathroom has a good-sized shower, as well as a washing machine and dryer.
There is a large bunky on the property that sleeps two in single bed. There is also a table/desk and desk chair for remote work.
The cottage faces west offering lovely views over the lake and glorious sunsets from seating on the outdoor deck, the garden (where the fire pit is located) or from the screened-in porch. We have pure drinking water from our own well. Our kitchen includes a well-stocked pantry with all the cooking basics.
A canoe, two kayaks with life jackets and safety buckets are all included.
Lower Hay Lake is a very large and connects to Hay and Drizzle Lakes, with 17 km of cumulative shoreline to explore. It is under-developed with only 70 cottages on the entire system. Very quiet with no jet skis! The lake is highly prized by fishermen for lake trout, bass and pickerel. From the cottage you can paddle/portage into Algonquin Park, or drive to the Park's East Gate in 20 minutes. Whitney is only 15 minutes by car and has groceries, LCBO, gas station and pharmacy.
A new 14 ft fishing boat with 9.9 hp motor is available for an additional charge of $200 per week.
- "One of our best cottage stays! We loved everything about that place - the location, interior design (super cozy and inviting), the deck and the view, the lake itself, and close proximity to Algonquin Park and its hiking trails. It's a perfect place to relax and unwind. Thank you Jenny! Highly recommended!!" - "It's a picture perfect spot exactly like the pictures shown. The beautifully renovated cottage (except the bathroom/shower addition) is in a perfect setting by the lake. It's surrounded by birch, white pine and maple trees; perfect for enjoying the fall colours in October! All we heard was quiet and on some days the rustling of the wind in the trees and the call of a loon in the evening. The steps down to the lake are steep but the cottage is very beautiful and relaxing. The daily walks up the driveway and along Hay Lake Road were good exercise! The woodstove kept us very comfortable and warm. A clean, well kept cottage perfect for relaxing by the lake! Check in was welcoming and straight forward. Jenny and John are graceful hosts and we had a wonderful week at Elders Cottage. Rita and Luciano, October 3 to 10, 2020"

- "Good location, convenient transportation and beautiful scenery!" - "Resort is well kept and lots of green space. Cottage was clean and cozy! Thank you!!" - "The property was huge and the housing was a trailer home. It had everything we needed. We didn’t spend a lot of time indoors; we were too busy doing other activities, kayaking, fishing, canoeing, exploring, making bannoc and s’mores. We even had a birthday party for my 9 year old Grandson. I loved every minute and have many beautiful pictures to prove it."
