Located one mile away from the town of Julian. The Julian Cafe Family cottage is the perfect place to unwind, stargaze at night, or just take in the fresh air!

Located one mile from downtown Julian. Equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, one private bedroom and one open den with a twin over full bunk bed. The bathroom is fully stocked with amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The living room has generously sized TV with starlink wifi. This house is designed with a country cottage feel but equipped with modern amenities. Enjoy sitting on your private patio with a glass of wine, while the kids play uno!

You will have the entire cottage to yourself, with access being sent prior to check in. There are about six steps leading up to the cabins so unfortunately we are not ADA accessible.

Parking is available in front of the cottages. If both cottages are being rented at the same time, please be mindful not to park in the middle of the driveway. If parked accordingly there is parking for four cars, so it should never be a problem.

You will be given a voucher once checked in towards breakfast, lunch, dinner or a whole pie at the Julian Cafe and Bakery located at 2112 Main St. The Julian Cafe does not accept reservation; however, you can call them (the phone number is on the back of your voucher) and add your name to the waiting list. Important to know, if you are wanting breakfast, YOU MUST BE SEATED BY 11:30am. If you do not make it in time for breakfast, no worries, your vouchers are still good towards lunch, dinner or a whole apple pie!

For reservations between NOV through MAR/APR, please ensure your vehicle carries snow chains in the event that your reservation dates coincide with a winter storm event (it’s helpful to keep an eye on the weather forecast in advance of your trip as well). During active snowfall, chains are required to traverse snowy mountain roads safely, and traffic officials will not allow passage to those without them, so please prepare accordingly!

Julian is a rural community in the mountains where wildlife abounds. While do our *absolute best* to keep the pests at bay at the cottage, please keep in mind that critters and insects come with the territory here.

THE FOREST
Our small treehouse Cabin opens to the outdoors for views and direct exposure to the forest. This exposure to nature provides a wonderful inspirational relaxing effect. Japanese call it 'Shinrin-Yoku' which translates to 'forest bathing'. The idea is simple: If a person visits a natural area and walks in a relaxed way, there are calming, rejuvenating and restorative benefits to be achieved. 8. ACCESS TO COTTAGE:
THIS HOME NOT RECOMMENDED FOR HANDICAPPED or mobility impaired persons...
a. Getting to our cabin requires a two (2) minute walk from parking area to Cabin.
b. There's a beautiful meandering staircase from parking area up to cabin. We recommend this retreat for guests who can walk 90 stair-steps to arrive at the front door of Cabin (see photos). You may also walk the "Hidden trail" as an alternative pathway up to the Cottage.
c. Cottage is approximately 38-42 feet elevation above parking area.
d. Walkways have handrails for those in need.

9. PARKING:
Parking area is limited to a MAXIMUM OF THREE (3) CARS. NO PARKING ON NEARBY STREET.

The cabin is meant for 2 people. However the maximum capacity for this cabin is five (5) persons. We recommend only two pairs of adult couples at most. The third bed is a twin size roll-away bed (31"x75").

a. There is a $14 charge for each person per night above 2.
Per person charge includes additional towels blankets & linens provided based on number of registered Guests in your party.

We had coffee on the deck nestled into the trees with a great view of the lake while listening to birds and squirrels, took a trip into town to visit the wolf conservation center followed by dinner, returned for a sunset jacuzzi followed by watching the meter shower in the dark sky from the lounge chairs from the “observatory” area. The generously-sized island makes both a great work area and a good place to hang out. The kitchen includes a microwave, two full-size ovens and plenty of gadgets for your culinary adventures.

Our home is located about 2 miles south of Julian's town center, and about 5 miles north of Lake Cuyamaca. On a beautiful hillside, it is a gorgeous vantage point for watching the seasons in Julian, and has easy access to town and to outdoor adventures. We apologize this home is not pet-friendly.

- "This was our first visit to Julian and to this beautiful home. There was plenty of space for our family of five and we truly felt at home in this lovely getaway. The home is well stocked with everything you could possibly need to prepare dinners, play games or just relax. We did a lot of all three!! My favorite part of the home is the large back deck that has an incredible view. And of course, the tall ceilings and windows which gives the place a very open, light and spacious feel. The deck is perfect to enjoy a morning cup of coffee and is shaded in the evening for dinners on the family size table. There is also a gas grill with provided propane for a BBQ. We loved being able to stargaze at night. There is one neighbor to the west (right side when looking out) that leaves their back porch light on all night which causes some light pollution, but there is still plenty of darkness to see hundreds of stars. The location is perfect, just two miles from town. Just far enough away to feel isolated, but close enough to make quick trips for dining out, shopping, or to pick up groceries. We were all very sad to leave, but I promised we’d return to make more family memories. You can definitely feel the love in the home and we are looking forward to returning again soon. The spacious floor plan with 720 sf plus a wide porch/balcony allows for great relaxing moments enjoying the lake and mountain views. Both bedrooms have queen size beds (pullout in 2nd room). The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, all linens, wood burning stove, porch with a barbecue and gas fireplace. From the porch you can watch birds, wild turkeys, and deer right on your land. Guests have access to the full house and land. Bicycles or other fishing gear can be stored in the basement on special request. The land (1/3 acre) hosts numerous bird feeders to observe. This is a historical cabin built in the 1950's. It's complete w/ antiques & classic books. It even has a restomod antique phonograph that you can plug your phone into. Trails close by. Walking distance (1.5 mi) to Julian Center. It is very quiet and secluded, with/a beautiful hammock. Full kitchen, claw foot tub, original outhouse w/ Turkey & Deer trails

You have chosen one of Julian's nicest two-bedroom 5-star rated cabins. Built in the 40's and completely upgraded in 2020, this cabin is very secluded & quiet. It's only about 1 mile from downtown Julian. It is a very quiet area too!

Trails are all around & it is very close to Volcan Mountain Preserve, which is an amazing place to visit and hike. The ceramic wood stove gives it a most special ambience.

A wonderful deck with a new patio furniture are outside. Inside are many antiques and historical information about Julian. Washer and dryer in shed for you use if needed.

A high-quality hammock is also in the shed for your enjoyment. It goes between the 2 trees to the left of the shed and faces it.

A Propane BBQ and Firepit are yours to use and enjoy

The first room next to the bathroom has a beautiful and comfy queen size bed (new mattress)

The 2nd bedroom also has a new queen size bed and a large TV

*The elevation of our location is almost 1600 feet higher than Julian town, therefore, the weather in the summer is about 5-10 degrees cooler and in winter snow fall is much heavier and longer lasting.
*Friendly dogs on the property
*Dogs are allowed with prior approval. One time pet fee per dog applies ($50). If you have 3 or more dogs, please contact me first. You agree not to leave your dog (s) unattended inside (crate ok) or outside the property. Any damages or extra cleaning will be withheld from the damage deposit. No cats or other pets.
*Please keep noise levels reasonable, especially in the evenings
*NO SMOKING or FIRES - I (we), our guests, agree to not smoke in the house or outside. Any kind of FIRE (fire pits, bbq, fireworks etc) is strictly prohibited outside or inside the property. You could face charges by the county, fined and lose your deposit and/or face additional charges. Breaking this important house rule will result in immediate removal from property.
*Wood stove inside the cabin can only be used with owners permission. We do not provide firewood. Only seasoned wood is allowed to burn, NO duraflame firelog or any other similar starters. No dumping of ashes outside, please leave them inside the fireplace or in specially designed tin bucket next to the fireplace.
*This is a mountain cabin surrounded by trees and nature. Very occasionally one may see ants or spiders. Please keep that in mind when booking.
*Due to high elevation the weather can be rainy and snowy during winter months. In case of SNOW - 4WD, winter tires and chains are mandatory (no exceptions) to access the property. In case of heavy snow fall, we reserve the right to cancel the booking if property is not accessible. We're not responsible for any injury caused by slipping on snow or ice. We do not provide towing and we are not able to help if your car becomes stuck for liability reasons.
*DO NOT TRESPASS! Please do NOT walk past any gates.
*NO drones, shooting, fireworks or hunting allowed, which includes killing birds and squirrels with a pellet gun.
*NO electric car charging or bringing something that draws large amounts of power.
*In general sounds carry from further away in the mountains. Sometimes there might be some noise from one of our neighbors working on their properties ie tractors, heavy equipment etc. Unfortunately, we can't control that.
*If there are high winds or fire danger the electricity can be shut off by the power company which is beyond our control. We do have electrical storage with Tesla power walls which will have a limited amount of power in the event of long outage.
*Our property is located on forty acres and sighting of the wildlife is not unusual. Please be respectful of their habitat, and at the same time be aware of your surroundings, especially during the months of May through September.
*There is one exterior security camera on the property facing the driveway away from the cabin for your safety and ours. There are no recording devices inside the property or anywhere on outdoor amenity spaces.
*This rental is privately owned and the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the property.
*The homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.

The first night we heard some critter noises throughout the night which is to be expected up in the mountains. Second night we turned on the fan for some white noise and it was all good! Overall it was a lovely stay!"
