Do you enjoy tasting rooms, healthy and delicious food and music? This comfortable 1940's era loft is located next to Julian Station. The Station features Colt's Burger Bar (grass-fed burgers with no hormones or antibiotics), 3 unique tasting rooms (hard cider, wine & chocolate, beer) and 5 fun shops and a gorgeous scenic back patio. The Loft is private and peaceful but still conveniently located just above Julian Station for an exciting, fun and easy stay. Although we have live music during the day and several tasting rooms, The Loft is private. Our place is very family oriented and things usually wind down around 7 pm (which is later than most places in Julian!). The Craft Beer Tap & Tasting room is open until around 8 pm but you won't hear anything from The Loft. We are adjacent to Highway 78 and a peaceful rural dirt road named Orchard Lane which offers scenic strolls and amazing views. We are also in walking distance from many other attractions in the Wynola area of Julian including restaurants, gold panning, a petting zoo and pumpkin patch, hay rides, 2 pie shops and 2 antique malls. We have so much to do on site at Julian Station, including:

Please be prepared with tire chains during high storm conditions, there not always needed but at times, it’s required.

The Main Highway is the Great Overland Stage Route of 1849, from
where a private drive takes you to a secluded cottage in Adobe Style
and dedicated to the Native Indian Kokopelli figure, the flute

Julian, the Gold Mining Town, beckons to be explored just 20
minutes to the west, Borrego Springs, 20 minutes to the north east,
offers the desert ambience with golf courses, club houses and
restaurants. To the south you might try a dip in the Agua Caliente
Hot Springs, or experience the freedom of soaring with a sailplane
from Warner Springs Sail Plane Airport 25 minutes to the northwest.

Reni recommended various places or interest, restaurants, and even which way to orient our seats to get the clearest view of the stars. Recently redesigned, this 750 square foot bungalow is perfect for a romantic get-a-away or for a small family of four who wants to experience going back to a gentler time.

The Story Book Barn was indeed the original barn on the property and has been
renovated into a full service cottage. And features a California King Bed with twin sofa
pullout. Enjoy meals at the kitchen bar which divides the full service kitchen from the
bedroom. The beds face a 55′′ flat screen TV with Dish service.
Enjoy the full service kitchen with stove, oven, full size refrigerator. We provide coffee, tea, and a coffee maker. We make your meal preparation easy by offering utensils, pots and pans.
The private patio from the kitchen offers serenity to enjoy over 5 acres of open views
and mountains from the patio.
The bathroom offers a full size glass shower and while modest in size offers all the
amenities you would need such as toiletries, and high quality towels.

- "Family getaway for a wedding, place was super cute, clean, had everything we needed!! Plenty of blankets and towels, beautiful views too!! Only thing I’d recommend is having queen size beds in rooms. My husband and I fit but were cramped and we had our 2 teenage sons both tall and only one could sleep in bed and other on couch . Pics made beds look bigger, other than that we were fine for our 2 night stay and would love to stay again maybe just my husband and I though! Haha!"

The Cottage was built in 1896 and has been restored as the guest house on a 40 acre property. It has a full kitchen, three bedrooms (3 queen) and two bathrooms. You can enjoy a cozy fireplace in the winter months or the pond and English Garden for Spring and Summer pleasures. You can stroll through the orchards or visit the two ponds, vineyard and "The Ruins." In the Fall, you can pick apples and pears or help harvest the grapes from the vineyard. you may also like to visit the town of Julian, go for a hike or just relax on the porch and enjoy the scenery.

Our space is suitable for two adult. Not suitable for infants, toddlers, or children due to the height and features of the loft.

Upon arrival guests can pull into the side gate and park close to the cottage in the designated space labeled “Parking-1”

A charming studio cabin, cozy for two, nestled in the woods with a large viewing deck and covered parking space. Here, you will relax and be inspired by the unobstructed vistas while tucked in amongst statuesque mature oaks and pines. Check your carrier for cell service in this area. The mini galley kitchen is well designed and stocked with all the tools and cooking basics to create simple meals. We provide coffee, creamer, and sugar for your morning ritual. Or bring your favorite loose leaf or ground bean for your own custom cup. This petite space quickly warms up with a 2 high-efficiency electric fan heaters to make things toasty. A loveseat is a perfect place to enjoy a warm drink, spend time on your devices sending correspondence, or watch your favorite show. The owners have thoughtfully decorated the studio with handmade pillows and arts and crafts in a country theme.

Just a short drive into Julian, and you find shops, markets, and eateries to pick up essentials or enjoy dining out. Also nearby, do not miss award-winning wineries, mind-blowingly beautiful state or county parks, and other local attractions. We have a welcome book with information about the studio and Julian that offers suggestions to help you find what you want. The kitchen is more complete and well considered for quality than anything I’ve seen. The beds and couch are comfortable and there are enough towels and linens. It’s like staying at your best friend’s house. The owners put such though and care into every detail. The outside furniture was clean, making it fun to eat meals and relax outside. I didn’t think I was interested in bird watching, but their setup made it impossible not to enjoy it. I highly recommend this place!!!"

In the mountains/forests, critters are simply a fact of life. Just a warning for those wary of bugs; even though we have the house professionally cleaned after each guest, and we use humane methods of mitigating pests where possible, we simply can't avoid the occasional critter(s) from breaking in. This includes critters related pool/spa amenities at the property. The existence of bugs in/around pool/spa amenities are 100% out of the host's control.

To be clear: bug/critter sightings inside or outside the home are possible. If this is a problem for you, BOOK ELSEWHERE. NO REFUNDS.

Southern California is inhabited by abundant predatory wildlife including but not limited to: coyotes, bears, snakes, raptors, rodents, arachnids, and scorpions. Although we have had exactly zero issues with any of the above, you must be very vigilant with your loved ones to keep everyone safe from local wildlife.

We are on a fragile septic system here in the mountains. PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER DOWN THE TOILET! This includes but is not limited to baby wipes (or wipes of any kind), feminine hygiene products, facial tissue, paper towels, hair, etc. These things WILL clog the system and you will not be able to use the shower, sinks or toilets.

Please note that the spa is located in a rainy/forested/dusty area. Even though the spa is cleaned/balanced/vacuumed immediately prior to your arrival, there is a 100% chance that there will be dust/sand/dirt in it. Please also note that the H₂O from the local Julian aquifer is high in Sulfates. This can cause the water to not be crystal clear and/or can cause excess surface bubbles if the jets/oxygenation are turned on. Skin irritation/sensitivity may occur as a result of this trace element. If either of these uncontrollable facts make you even slightly uncomfortable, please do not plan on using the spa.

REITERATIVE TRAVEL ADVISORY. There is a FORESEEN LIKELIHOOD of snow events, rain events, wind events, and outage events resulting in road closures. Especially November-March. YOU ARE ADVISED TO GET TRAVELERS INSURANCE. We uphold your agreed upon cancellation policies to the letter. NO REFUNDS.

The spa has a small filter lid that may come loose from its housing (looks like a 6" frisbee). It may be floating around the water (along with a off-white/light brown filter sponge). THIS IS 100% NORMAL. The filter sponge can be placed back in the filter basket and then filter lid resecured in 3-5 seconds. Or both can be left to float and our caretaker can tend to them after your departure.

Θ The EV charging option is NOT a level-2 charger. It is a Level-1 EV GFCI outlet (110V | 15A). This means bring your own charging cable with an American 110V plug at the ready. Many EV Charger manufacturers (Tesla, ChargePoint, Bosch, Enel-x's Juicebox, and more) state that the EV Chargers should not be installed onto circuits with GFCI protection. So either make sure your Charger is compatible (ours for our Tesla is) or do not plan on using the outdoor charging outlet/option.

LIABILITY WAIVER - By making your reservation you and the other members in your party as THE GUESTS agree to release THE HOSTS from all liability, including financial responsibility relating to injuries & personal property damage that may occur during your stay. You understand that using the hot tub, hiking and climbing anywhere on the property is at your own risk and that special risks may be involved with using the hot tub and hiking and/or climbing. You accept full responsibility for any bodily injury arising while on the property and hold owner harmless.

The primary suite features a luxurious king-size bed, thoughtfully adorned for your utmost comfort, along with a flat-screen TV for your entertainment.

The second bedroom offers a charming piece of history—a beautifully hand-carved 1891 Murphy bed (full-size), adding a unique and cozy touch to your stay.

We’ve left out some treats for you to enjoy! You'll find a brand-new Keurig machine stocked with coffee and tea pods, cider, hot chocolate, We will also leave you with a variety delicious snacks, and chocolates. In the refrigerator, you'll also find a variety of drinks, including sodas, flavored vitamin waters, and bottled water.

Step outside onto the spacious back deck, where you can take in views of the enclosed backyard and soak in the sights of Main Street and Downtown Julian's charming shops and restaurants.

🛑 No Pets Allowed – As much as I love animals, for the comfort and protection of all guests, we do not allow pets. Please no exceptions. There is a $500 cleaning and sterilization fee added if pets are brought on the premises.

🏡 Historic Cottage – No Parties – This home is a historic property and is not suitable for parties. A maximum of 4 guests is allowed.

🔇 Quiet Hours in Place – This is a peaceful neighborhood, and we ask all guests to respect the noise curfew:

The Nightingale Cottage itself consists of 2 completely distinct units each with private entry. Separate bookings may overlap from different groups in each of the Nightingale units - but there are private gated entries for each unit and soundproofing has been installed between units so that guests each have quiet and privacy.

This property is accessible from the street by stairs, and from the rear via alley access. Front porch is accessed via a flight of stairs. Like most of Julian, the property is situated on a bit of a slope. Regrettably, due to the nature and position of the property, we are not wheelchair accessible. Guests must be comfortable climbing stairs.

Free street parking available at the front of property, with exclusive alley parking on weekends (because we know weekends can get busy and parking can get competitive). Please note: during business days, alley *must* remain clear to accommodate municipal service thoroughfare. Brief periods of loading and unloading is ok during this time.

❄️*WINTER WEATHER TRAVEL- SNOW CHAINS!*❄️
For reservations between NOV through MAR/APR, please ensure your vehicle carries snow chains in the event that your reservation dates coincide with a winter storm event (it’s helpful to keep an eye on the weather forecast in advance of your trip as well). During active snowfall, chains are required to traverse snowy mountain roads safely, and traffic officials will not allow passage to those without them, so please prepare accordingly!

HOT TUB POLICY:
HOT TUB is in service year-round. We do our utmost to ensure the hot tub is in good working order for every stay; however, in the *unexpected* event that the hot tub is not functioning for a stay, we offer a 20% nightly rate discount (after other discounts are taken into account) for each night that the hot tub is not functioning.

Julian is a rural community in the mountains where wildlife abounds. While do our *absolute best* to keep the pests at bay at the cottage, please keep in mind that critters and insects come with the territory here.
