So you really do have everything you need to enjoy your stay. The property also has a TV room with a large screen, meaning you can enjoy movie nights in in style.
When it comes to the bedrooms, the property has six on offer, all of which have been individually decorated blending mid-century and traditional details with a deep colour palette and modern accents. These rooms are stylish and unique, and most importantly, they're all super-comfy! There are three superking rooms, two king-size rooms and one twin bedroom. The master suite has an ensuite bathroom and separate shower room, whilst the Garden Suite king-size room also has an ensuite bathroom with shower. Another king-size double room has an ensuite shower with a wet room, whilst the others all have adjacent shower rooms.
The house is eco-friendly, making use of modern environmental technology with ground source heating and superb insulation. And there are also three open fires and a plentiful supply of logs from the surrounding woods.
As the name suggests, the most striking feature of this property is the magnificent walled garden. Built 200 years ago by Napoleonic prisoners of war, the garden encloses the house and acts as a wonderful sun trap in summer. You have total privacy and can relax on the lawn, play tennis on the newly refurbished court or outdoor games such as croquet or boules. Indoors you'll find two games rooms with snooker table, dart board and table tennis.
Guests can also pick flowers, fruit and vegetables when in season from the kitchen garden. There is even a two hole pitching range for enthusiastic golfers.
This house sits within 60 acres of 18th Century landscaped grounds which guests are welcome to explore. In February, the woods are a filled with snowdrops and aconites, and come spring the drive is yellow with daffodils and pink cherry blossom.
If you wish to venture further afield then you'll be pleased to know that you're only a short drive from the seaside and golfing town of North Berwick. This town has an array of quality restaurants on offer and is often voted the best place to live in Scotland. You are also close to several sandy beaches including Seacliffe which regularly features in Britain’s best beaches, Yellowcraig and the East and West Bays in North Berwick. Enjoy the panoramic sea views from this North Berwick holiday apartment situated less than a minutes' walk from the beach or the golf course. North Berwick is a wonderful seaside town and with breath-taking views along the Firth of Forth and the tiny islands of Bass Rock, Lamb, Fidra and Craigleith, it is an unforgettable holiday destination. Its vibrant high street, with its range of cafes, restaurants and stylish independent shops is a great place to browse. The beach is at the heart of the town and the charming harbour area, with its pretty beach huts and colourful boats really adding to the seaside atmosphere. Must-see destinations nearby include The Scottish Seabird Centre, The National Museum of Flight, Tantallon Castle and of course, a day trip to the beautiful capital of Scotland, Edinburgh.

THE SPACE
Being a Victorian building our property has high ceilings and the rooms are of good proportion. Understated coastal style with homewares and accessories inspired by the sea and coastal living are peppered throughout our home. Using a colour palette of ocean hues and the surrounding natural environment, we hope our home offers you a relaxed ambience.
This ground floor spacious apartment/flat has its own private main door entrance, and the accommodation is all on the one level, with no stairs. The perfect seaside retreat for individuals, couples and small families looking for accommodation next to the beach, in a quiet area of North Berwick.
The accommodation consists of the whole apartment. Our rooms include: a lounge, separate kitchen diner, laundry room, wet room with toilet, 2 bedrooms and a Book Nook room!
KITCHEN DINER
The kitchen diner is a good sized space, with plenty of cupboards and a walk in pantry cupboard. Integrated appliances including a dishwasher and fridge freezer compliment this space. There is a wide range of glassware and dinnerware for our guests. Plus a selection of recipe books on display if you need inspiration in the kitchen! A large dining table with benches and chairs completes this spacious room.
LAUNDRY ROOM
Situated off the kitchen diner, the laundry room has a Bosch washing machine and separate tumble dryer. A ceiling clothes pulley / dryer is provided for use. Laundry detergents are provided for guests.
LOUNGE ROOM
Coastal accessories and decor including a driftwood chandelier compliment, this light filled room. A custom built media unit with overhanging lights and a wall hung smart tv, complete this contemporary space. If you take a peek out the window you’ll catch a side view of the beach!
BEDROOM (1)
This master bedroom has an ‘Extra King’ zip and link bed, measuring 6’ 0”wide x 6’ 3” long. Being a zip and link bed offers flexibility between an Extra King and twin bed options. Please note this bed will always be made up as an Extra King size bed. If you require the bed to be split and set up as 2 single beds, you must request this when booking the property.
An open wardrobe and dressing table with cocktail chair complete the master bedroom.

Two standard single beds measuring 3’ 0” wide x 6’3” long fit neatly into this smaller room. A beach hut wardrobe with shelving compliments the coastal look.

QUIET TIMES
The property is located in a quiet residential area and although this is a holiday destination, it’s home to many people. Therefore between the hours of 10pm-8am, noise should be kept to a minimum.
PARKING
There is no car parking space associated with this property. However, we are fortunate to have free unrestricted on-street parking on Melbourne Road (along the beach wall) which is adjacent to Balfour Street.
In addition, there is free parking in the town car parks including; The Scottish Seabird Centre car park, The Glebe car park and The Imperial car park, all within a short walk from the property.
Rules regarding on street parking can vary dependent on the season / time of year. Our advice with regards to parking in the local area is to always look for and read the parking signs prior to leaving your vehicle. Unfortunately we are unable to assist with parking matters on the day of check-in or at other times.

A striking panelled room painted smoky green with a magnificent feature moulded ceiling. It contains a luxurious double bed, with terrestrial TV, sofa and seating. There are two large sofas and a wall mounted TV which has an associated NOW TV account. Guests are welcome to use their own firestick or other HDMI devices.
Working shutters also feature in this room with the original paint retained on the inner faces.
Kitchen Diner
The ample kitchen is fully equipped for preparing meals for up to 12 guests and includes a beautiful oversize Bertazzoni oven, 5 gas burner stove, large integrated fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. There is also an oak dining table that seats up to six people.

You are welcome to bring one well behaved dog as we understand if your dog is one of the family you will want to bring them! There is a small charge of £30.00 per booking.

The Byre Cottage in East Lothian, Scotland, is a charming 18th-century property that once formed part of the Newmains farm. Nestled in a peaceful rural setting, the cottage is surrounded by lush farmlands, offering a serene escape. The beds in the cottage are super king and the second bedroom, usually set up as twin can be zip and linked to provide 2 large bedrooms if preferred.
The west facing patio offers a wonderful spot to enjoy a relaxing morning coffee or sundowners after an active day. There are country walks from the doorstep offering views of the coastline and Bass rock and Fife in the distance.
The wood burning stove heats up quickly and provides a cosy, atmospheric environment, logs are provided.

- "Our family of six (2 parents, 2 students, 2 grandparents) stayed here for a week in late May on our recent trip to Scotland. It was a most delightful and convenient place for our needs. Super cute home with everything we needed. Beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped, and steps away from a convenience store. Especially loved the living room w/ fireplace for cozy evenings (we didn't turn on the house heat) and the attached sunroom was amazing for sitting and relaxing. Washer provided, but no dryer. However, clothes line was nestled in a beautiful flowered garden in the back. Had a minor issue with a shower drain which the host quickly resolved. We didn't need the car space, but there is space to park two cars if needed. Shopping & restaurants up and down the street is very convenient, as well as the beach. Train station is 10 min walk. Enchanting place! Would highly recommend."

The House at the Beach is a double-upper Victorian villa (built 1871). It is a beautiful home from home, equipped and decorated to a very high specification, with stunning views over North Berwick’s west beach, harbour, and the RNLI lifeboat station. The window seat in the sitting room is a favourite place for visitors to watch all the activities on the beach, sailing boats, boats from the harbour to the islands, as well as the regular training launching the lifeboat. Modern wooden sash and case windows let in the summer's sea air and keep out the wind on breezy days.
The house features original art throughout, along with several quirky elements. It also provides beach equipment, including bodyboards, windbreaks, and beach chairs.

The elegant living room takes full advantage of the exceptional views over West Bay and Craigleith Island. It’s lavished with all the little extra comforts to get you feeling right at home, including a flat screen Smart TV with streaming service, and complimentary WiFi.

Rockpool Retreat is the perfect first floor seaside holiday apartment for two. The property is located right in the heart of North Berwick and is only a minute's walk from the sandy beaches, the harbour and famous Scottish Seabird Centre. As the name suggests, the stunning Milsey Bay is just down the road; during high tide in the summer, everyone is found playing in the large tidal pool while at low tide you can walk for half a mile along the coast line up to the Glen Golf Course and out along the rocks to explore the wonders that live in the rock pools. North Berwick boasts a fantastic selection of pubs and restaurants for everyone also only a couple minutes' walk from the property. If you fancy staying in and cooking up your own delicious meals, the High Street offers great convenience stores, delis, butchers, bakery and even a shop to purchase your own choice of tea and coffee. The tennis courts, putting greens and the famous North Berwick West Links Golf Course and Glen Golf Course are all no more than 10 minutes walk away. North Berwick Train Station is also about a 15 minutes walk from the apartment - catch the train into the wondrous City of Edinburgh, only 30 minutes' ride and late trains home allowing you to fully explore Scotland's capital city.

The modern farmhouse kitchen has a sink, integrated appliances including induction hob, double oven and microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, a kettle, a toaster as well as a french press. Utensils, crockery and cooking basics are provided as well as tea and coffee. Washing machine is also integrated within the kitchen.

The cottage has 3 well designed bedrooms. The spacious master room has a comfortable double bed with hotel quality linen, seating area in the bay window, desk and ensuite shower room. The second double bedroom has a comfortable bed with hotel quality linen, designated work space and mirrored wardrobe and views onto the garden. Twin bedroom has two single beds with hotel quality linen, vanity desk, chair and views onto the garden.
The dining area can seat up to 6 guests and is in the heart of the cottage.
There is a family bathroom with a roll top bath and separate walk in shower, toilet, sink and underfloor heating. The ensuite shower room has a shower, toilet, vanity and sink unit. Local environmentally friendly premium Laura Thomas shampoo, body wash and hand wash are provided for guests as well as towels and hairdryers.

The Wee Hoose is a newly renovated, self-contained living space located in the midst of my pretty cottage garden in Athelstaneford - a small, quiet village.
The accommodation is light, airy & includes a private patio & a wood burning stove, as well as modern electric heating. There are twin beds that can be made into a SUPER-KING & a modern en-suite bathroom. The kitchen area is suitable for preparing simple meals with a small fridge, one electric hob, grill/microwave, kettle & toaster.

The Wee Hoose is completely self-contained and you have a private outdoor patio. You are also welcome to sit or walk in our garden.

If you’re sea swimming or going to the swimming pool across the road do bring your own extra swim towels.
Breakfast is not included but teas, coffee & herbal tea on offer on a help your self basis.
The heating is on a timer set to twice a day going off at night time. There are plenty of blankets, eiderdowns as well as high tog duvet.
The blinds are natural linen without blackout I believe it is healthier to wake up in day light. I do have sleep masks if that bothers you.
The house is set back from the road and modern so pretty soundproof but the letting rooms are situated to the front of the property so you may hear some traffic.

modern home. It’s situated within easy access of the town centre, do note if walking it’s uphill on the way up.
Topaz my dog may be here she is a paws on the floor dog who sleeps downstairs in the hallway. Moonstone my little cat is more of an outdoor cat that returns home for feeding.

When I am with clients my phone is on silent. I will pick up but be patient if I am not able to reply immediately. My neighbours like their privacy and would ask that you don't involve them in where to park, which property you are to be in or disturb them in any way during your stay.

Wee Windy sits within the grounds of our family home. It is an ideal retreat for couples but sleeps up to 4 people.
It is situated just 10 minutes walk from North Berwick train station, 15 minutes from the high street and beach, and is a 35 minute train journey from Edinburgh's city centre.
It has an airy but cosy feel, full of natural light, and is decorated in a coastal theme. It also has a private entrance (with a shared gate entrance) which allows guests to come and go at any time.
The space
Wee Windy comprises an open plan living room and kitchen, one bedroom, and a shower room.
The living room and kitchen area is bright, comfortable, and great for socialising. There is a sofa which converts to a bed on request (with an extra person charge of £10 per person per night). There is also a large wall mounted smart television with Netflix, Amazon Prime, and BBC iPlayer services to name a few.
The kitchen is well equipped if you choose to cook and has a breakfast bar, oven and built-in microwave, Induction hob, dishwasher, toaster, and Nespresso coffee machine. Guests also have access to a washing machine and drying area in the adjoining laundry room.
The bedroom is minimalist and cosy, with excellent wardrobe space, and has a super king size bed (which can be unzipped and converted into two singles if you give us advance notice).
The shower room contains a walk-in digital shower and has underfloor heating, as well as a heated towel rail.

We encourage guests to make use of the rocking chairs on the veranda as it is a lovely place to unwind at the end of the day with your beverage of choice.
Guests are also welcome to store golf clubs, bikes, or other sports equipment in the laundry room. We have a secure outdoor space for kayaks and canoes too.
Our comfortable seaside home is in the heart of downtown North Berwick, a delightful town with lots to do only 30 minutes by train from Edinburgh. We provide a self service continental breakfast, with tea/coffee and fresh fruit. Towels, hairdryer, wifi and local information is also provided.

We have listened to our guests comments during our first year of trading and for the 2019 season we have double glazed the windows that look on to the High St. Since the work was carried out we have had no guest comments regarding noise from the High St.

Leslie George Alexander Brownlee born 9th May 1885, at 4 Brighton Place, Stirling, son of George Brownlee, a bank accountant and his wife Margaret Glass. George was born in North Berwick in 1857 and Margaret was the daughter of James Glass, a well known North Berwick fisherman and caddie. Leslie's father moved to America and his parents divorced. From 1890, he was living with his mother and grandmother at 38 (now 46) High Street, while his mother had the stationers shop at 44 High Street. In 1903, Margaret Glass married Donald M Jackson, a famous amateur golfer from North Berwick and they lived in Edinburgh.
At the age of eleven years, Leslie Brownlee was granted a licensed as a 1st class caddie on the West Links on 20th July 1896 and on leaving North Berwick Public School he worked for the Civil Service in Edinburgh prior to joining the professional ranks in the USA. He emigrated in March 1905 and joined Jamie Campbell from North Berwick, the pro at Mount Airy Golf Club, Philadelphia. In 1906 Brownlee was employed by C.D. Mowen of the Kelley Trust Company who appointed Brownlee pro at Fort Smith Country Club, one of only two golf clubs in Arkansas. Brownlee laid out the 2,700 yards nine-hole course with skinned greens.
In April 1907 the American Golfer magazine reported that Fred McLeod who has been wintering at San Antonio and James Simpson who has been at Dallas, played with Leslie Brownlee, the Fort Scott professional. McLeod was on his way to the Midlothian Country Club of Chicago and Simpson of the Riverside Country Club. David Melville, the professional at Little Rock was also on hand for the event.
Brownlee laid out the course at Lakeview Country Club in 1907, the forerunner to the present Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club, where he was joined by his step-brother Art Jackson a clubmaker from North Berwick in October 1909. Brownlee shared the record score of 31 for the nine-hole courses across America. He laid out the nine-hole-course at Muskogee C.C, Oklahoma with sand greens in 1908 and recommended Bill Nichols from North Berwick as their first pro. In 1909, Brownlee recommended Arthur Kendall from North Berwick as the next pro at Fort Smith. As teenagers, Leslie, Arthur and Jim Campbell lived next to each other in the High Street, North Berwick.
The first Oklahoma Open Championship was played in 1910 at Tulsa Country Club. The two players in contention were Leslie Brownlee of Lakeview Country Club in Oklahoma City and Bill Nichols pro at Muskogee Town and Country Club. By the second nine holes Nichols had an eight stoke advantage and Brownlee retired.
In 1910, Leslie Brownlee gave up his career in golf and became a medical student in Oklahoma City. He qualified as an Oculist specialising in treating diseases of the eye and he moved to Birmingham, Alabama where he practiced at 926 Woodward Buildings. Brownlee was reinstated as an amateur. In 1912 the Southern Golf Association amateur championship was played at Belle Meade Country Club, Nashville where the local pro was George Livingstone from North Berwick. Representing Birmingham, Alabama was Leslie Brownlee who had not seen Livingstone for four years. In 1921 Brownlee was runner-up in the Alabama State (Amateur) Championship was played at Roebuck. Leslie lived with his wife Ruth and son Leslie at 1017 Elm Street, Birmingham. Brownlee retired to Miami, Florida where he died 17th July 1970, aged 85 years. Clubs marked with Leslie Brownlee's name are occasionally offered for sale. Most recently a 42" wooden shafted club with brass and wooden head was sold at auction.
