I'm aware the Hall is mainly used for weddings but as no wedding was on, on the Sunday I would assume that services would have been offered as paying guests. It would also be a curtesy to inform guests who are booking spare rooms not part of a wedding party that there are events happening, it was rather noisy. Overall it’s a beautiful place and setting with fantastic access the beaches but we did feel let down by the issues above."

Its in a peaceful location (2 minutes from the Chillingham cattle visitor centre). Our host Mhairi couldn't have been more thoughtful or welcoming during our stay. She is also very knowledgeable about the local area having lived there for 20+ years. Shes more than happy to offer some great suggestions. The breakfast that she cooks fresh every morning is wonderful and will keep you going for hours! There is a traditional full English breakfast on the menu (with locally made sausages), along with that there are lots of other options that you don't always see at hotels, like eggs benedict, avocado piled up high on sourdough toast and even delicious home made granola. All of the main attractions within the Alnwick area are within a short drive, like 25 minutes to Alnwick or Bamburgh castles. Several pubs are within 2-10 minutes drive too. There are 3 bedrooms here to stay in and 2 comfortable living rooms with welcoming fires that you can relax infront of with a drink and a good book on an evening. Absolutely wonderful, I haven't felt as relaxed as I did there in months! Would highly recommend :) "

Located in the heart of the village of Embleton, our holiday house offers easy access to everything beautiful Northumberland has to offer.

The house is a 1 mile, safe and easy walk to the beach and Dunstanburgh Golf Course and 500 yards from the village centre. The house provides walkable access to the village shop, garage and playpark as well as the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel, Grey’s Inn and the Sambuca Blue Bell.

Whether you have come to see the castles or build a sand one, cycle, golf, play, surf, walk or wild swim, the house is a great base from which to enjoy your holiday.

The house sleeps 5 and has 3 large upstairs bedrooms, one king, a twin and a single, and a family bathroom. All single beds are full size and bedding and towels are included although we ask that you bring your own beach and/or dog towels.
A travel cot is available and can fit comfortably into any of the bedrooms. We do not provide cot bedding as we feel little ones and carers settle more quickly with their own.

Downstairs our cosy living room leads into a small conservatory and out into the back garden. The living room is stocked with a selection of maps, books, wooden bricks and train track, jigsaws and board games along with a TV with access to a DVD player and Amazon Prime. WIFI connection is fast and included which keeps all ages happy!

Our well-equipped kitchen/diner has a walk-in pantry and fridge, a dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle, along with a smoothie maker and toastie maker (perfect for easy lunches and snacks after a day at the beach). The dining table comfortable seats 6 and a highchair can be provided.

The front door opens into a spacious hallway leading to the kitchen/diner and the living room. Our side door entrance leads off the drive into a tiled boot room and utility area with a washing machine and fridge/freezer and leads onto the downstairs toilet, boiler room and kitchen.

With off street parking for 2 cars, a front and back garden and an outside tap, the access to the house makes for easy loading and unloading from a day at the beach with sandy children, dogs, surf boards or golf gear.

A beautiful holiday home in a fabulous location…. Vale View has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. This spacious holiday apartment is in the village of Glanton and occupies the first floor of the village pub. Accommodation has a separate access, is soundproofed, and offers a comfortable living space. The fabulous open plan kitchen/diner is very well equipped to a high spec with a range cooker and dishwasher. The living room is bright and airy with large sofas, easy chairs and a 50” TV with Freeview. The property has five ensuite bedrooms so there’s plenty of room for all eleven guests. - "Relaxing weekend." - "Everything was one hundred percent" - "Good location for exploring Northumberland, the locals were very friendly and welcoming. This was a family holiday, the property was spacious and a bonus including the 5 bedrooms all with en-suite facilities. Will definitely return." - "The property was absolutely perfect for our get together with friends and dogs. Whilst COVID restrictions limited our party size to 6, it was definitely spacious enough for 10 or more and it was extremely well appointed and very clean. We were blessed with glorious sunshine for the week we stayed so took advantage of sitting on the decking enjoying the evening rays and sipping a cold glass of something. There were numerous beach, forestry commission land, and field walks within easy reach, plus great pubs, towns, villages and national trust properties close by. Cragside NT gardens and Dunstan Burgh English Heritage sites are definitely worth a visit and both are dog friendly. Glanton hamlet is a rural and restful ‘get away from it all’ location. Our only disappointment was that the details had said the accommodation was soundproofed from the pub noise below, and sadly, this was not the case for the majority of the bedrooms. Whilst the kitchen, lounge, and master suite were indeed sound insulated, the 4 other bedrooms along a corridor, were not. This was not an issue most evenings, however on Friday and Sunday evenings there were some very noisy parties which made sleep a little challenging. Notwithstanding this small gripe, we would return in a flash, we had a truly wonderful holiday and would like to say a massive thank you to Lisa!"

Low Newton, Seahouse, Bamburgh, Beadnell are all within a 15 minute drive or you can take a local bus. Holy Island is around 40mins and you can always have a day at sea to the Farne Islands and see the Puffins, or you may be happy just rock pooling on your doorstep. Take home some locally smoked famous Craster kippers or if visiting in August go see the famous Scarecrow festival. Theirs lots to do and see and its all within commenting distance.

- "We had a lovely stay in this well appointed apartment. It was even better than the pictures on the website and more spacious than expected. Really well equipped and the Prosecco and sunflowers very welcoming! We ate in and found the kitchen area adequate for our needs. It literally is a couple of minutes from (in our opinion) the best part of the beach and the view from the large windows is lovely, despite the building works opposite . The weather was great and we enjoyed the sunsets from the window. Alnmouth in a lovely place and Seabreeze is perfectly situated. The owners came to my rescue when I left my phone charger at home. Brand new in 2020, Crasterway is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom contemporary, super comfortable home from home in the beautiful historic village of Craster with its working harbour, award winning pub and right on the coastal path. The entrance hall. provides plenty of room for boots and coats and offers a downstairs cloakroom with toilet and basin. Off the hall is the open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room. A fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave and hob, plus clothes washer/dryer. There is a dishwasher, coffee machine (ground coffee), plenty of tableware and a glass for every occasion! There is also a smart tv.The kitchen has glass bi fold doors which open straight into the garden. In the shed are outdoor games and BBQ and coals. The garden also has an outdoor table and seats. The garden is enclosed and provides a lovely suntrap! The shed makes a secure storage for golf clubs too. Across the hall, the other way is our relaxing lounge with colours of the coast! Comfy sofas, smart TV, games, books, a separate room to chill out or spend fun family evenings together. Upstairs there are four bedrooms. There are two double bedrooms, one kingsize bedroom with ensuite (shower, toilet, sink), plus a bedroom with two large single beds which can also be pushed together to make a superking sleeping area. There is a family bathroom with bath (shower over), toilet and basin.Outside there is secure parking right outside the house, off the road in our private drive. We have fast broadband, hairdryers, fans, hot water bottles, and provide hand and body wash, toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets, clothes washing tablets, dish cloths. tea towels, oven mitts, all bed linens plus bath, hand and beach towel for each guest. A travel cot and high chair are also available plus we have some temporary black out blinds, even though all our curtains are black out lined for that extra deep sleep! We'll provide Jackie Charlton's Northumbrian tea, Ringtons coffee, biscuits, crisps, sweets, milk and a bottle of fizz to say thank you for staying and getting your holiday off to a great start! Food deliveries can be ordered from Sainsburys and Asda locally. A very short walk takes you down to the harbour to see the fishing boats land their daily catches of lobster, crab and herring. A lot of the fish goes straight to the pub and to Robsons, the family owned smoking house in Craster for the famous Craster kippers - there's also a shop in the smokery offering a variety of delicious foods! The pub, the Jolly Fisherman, is open from 10am for coffee and cakes, and usual pub hours. There is a beautiful outdoor seating terrace looking out to seas, as does the restaurant plus a cosy dog friendly bar seating area. Booking is highly recommended! Craster is right on the coastal path and there are some fantastic walks right from the front door. There are also cycle routes and a tourist bus. There's a lovely kids' play area in the village, plus an abundance of rock pools to explore and small sandy beach in the harbour and don't forget the ice cream van every afternoon! Alnwick is just a 7 minute drive away, with the famous Alnwick Castle - learn to fly your broomstick and play quidditch - Harry Potter filming used the Castle and quadrangle for a number of scenes. or explore the beautiful state rooms. Alnwick Gardens offers the largest water cascade in the UK. It's formal gardens, cottage and rose gardens, bamboo maze, poison garden and cherry blossom orchard with over 300 Japanese cherry trees - spectacular in April/May. New for 2024 was Lilidorie, a magical kingdom with Europe's largest children's play structure! There's crazy golf and the famous Tree House Restaurant too. Alnwick town has an abundance of lovely shops, pubs, restaurants, fish and chips, coffee shops to fill a day too. We are right in the centre of some of the best links golf courses - Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh, Goswick and Alnmouth offer fantastic golfing experiences for visitors. You can visit stunning Bamburgh Castle (with its Utred Viking tours), Warkworth Castle, the Victorian Estate villages of Ford and Etal, the battle site of Flodden, all with 30 minutes. Hike in the Simonside hills or along the beautiful Northumbrian beaches and dunes - so much to do, you'll need to come back! - "The village location was perfect. The cottage is right in the heart of the small village overlooking the harbour. We enjoyed the convenience of the private parking and the on your doorstep scenery and vistas. It was great that the pub was a 2 minute walk away in one direction and in the other Dunstanburgh Castle was less than 2 miles away on a lovely coastal walk across fields with views of the castle and cliffs all the way. The picturesque harbour across the road was visible from the main bedrooms and the famous smokehouse of craster was opposite the pub. We loved the location. The inside of the house was very spacious and had everything we needed. It was a shame that the garden wasn't suitable for the children to play in. The back patio had bits of wood lying about and extremely thorny bushes and the front garden is elevated with a drop to the harbour side and not enclosed enough."

- "Great communication from the property owner from the start. What a lovely house.. lots of space for us all (6 adults and one teen) - we particularly enjoyed the open fire in the sitting room as it was pretty chilly during our stay. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and the extra fridge / freezer was perfect as we were cooking here on Christmas Day! A slight hiccup with the heating before arrival but the property owner was in contact immediately and did everything possible to rectify this, which he did, so this didn’t affect our stay. The location of the property is fantastic with sea views out the front windows. It’s a short walk (although uphill, which may be more difficult for some guests) to the local pub (cozy, welcoming, lovely staff and tasty food) and the hotel (amazing cocktails!) and about 25 mins (depending on walking pace!) downhill to the sandy beach. Great walks in the area along the coastal path or past Dunstanburgh Castle to Craster and then there’s Alnwick close by with some lovely shops. I would recommend this property and the area and will definitely be back."

Entrance:
Spence Lodge is the ideal family retreat, especially for those with limited mobility, as it is situated on the ground floor. As you approach the private entrance porch through the beautiful gardens and down a one-stone step, you enter a spacious, dining room/entryway. On your left are the two bedrooms and bathrooms and your right leads to a large open-plan kitchen/living room.
Living Spaces:
The bright and modern space of the open plan Kitchen/lounge creates a warm and homely feeling, with the Stoves range cooker in the centre of the Kitchen catching your eye. The Kitchen is traditional, with a Belfast sink and chrome accessories, which is fully equipped with everything you need for a home-away-from-home holiday apartment, including a microwave, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, washing machine and an electric hob.
The lounge is fully furnished to the highest standard, including a comfortable sofa and two relaxing leather armchairs. The heart of the Lounge is the open fire log burner with mantelpiece surround. To each side of the chimney breast are bookshelves with plenty of books to read during your stay. Patio doors lead out into the private outdoor area.
The dining area has a modern style round table and chairs that comfortably seat four guests. Please request in advance if you require a highchair and/or a travel cot, as these can be provided for you free of charge.
Master Bedroom:
Leading through to the Master Bedroom, you’ll find a grand, comfortable king-sized bed furnished with luxurious linen and throw, giving you the best opportunity for a perfect night’s sleep. Plenty of storage is provided for your clothes, so there is genuinely no need to worry about bringing too many items. The Master Bedroom also has a private stone tiled en-suite bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower, toilet, and wash hand basin.

Twin Room:
The second bedroom is equally as spacious, with two single beds and a free-standing wardrobe, perfect for storing many clothes. There is an additional bathroom with a bathtub, perfect for inevitably sandy children after a day at the beach.
Outside Space:
From the patio doors in the lounge, guests will find well-maintained gardens with a private area exclusively for Spence Lodge with outdoor furniture and a BBQ, a perfect place to sit for a morning coffee or in the evening with a glass of wine.
Parking:
Spence Lodge is one of four properties on the plot of land and has four car park spaces within the courtyard, one space per property.
Additional Notes:
Whilst Spence Lodge is a private apartment, it shares a plot with its sister cottages at Hallsteads. The properties share a courtyard and driveway; one space is allocated to each cottage. If you're struggling to book your preferred dates, look at the other cottages: Garden Stables, South Stable and Pope Lodge; you'll find them under the host's listed properties. Or if you're staying for a wedding or with a larger group, you may be interested in booking more than one property; it's the perfect way to go on holiday with a larger group whilst still having the privacy of your cottage.
Whilst there is one shallow entrance step, this house was designed to accommodate the owner's mother, who was in a wheelchair. The doors are standard size, but the property has no internal stairs. Parking is also outside on the driveway, so it's a short walk!

The Neighborhood:
Newton-by-the-Sea is a delightful village which is popular for sailing and windsurfing with a lovely sandy beach and fine views across Embleton Bay to Dunstanburgh Castle. The area is renowned for bird watching and the National Trust owns most of the village and surrounding countryside.

The 'square' is the heart of the old village, where low buildings surround a large grass square, with a pub in the corner serving bar meals and hot soups for those walking on wild days.

You’ll be spoiled by wildlife when staying in Newton-by-the-Sea. Visit the Newton Pool, a freshwater Nature Reserve just 80 metres from the shore, with its accessible hides it is a good place to observe migrating birds, head to see a breeding colony of terns at Long Nanny Burn in the middle of Beadnell Bay, or look out for sponges and anemones on the soft rock shore on the overhanging rocks, or go rockpooling, finding hermit crabs and porcelain crabs.

In the village, visit Low Newton Square with its cream-washed cottages and an historic pub. Also look out for the unusual St Mary’s church, which dates from the end of the 19th century. Newton-by-the-Sea is served by a two-hourly daytime bus service between May and September. There is a less-frequent service in the winter months.

The 418 Service connects with Bamburgh, Seahouses and Belford to the North and Alnwick via the Coastal Villages to the south. The X18 stops at the crossroads and continues to Berwick-upon-Tweed and Morpeth and Newcastle to the south.

The Space:
Crab Cottage is a beautiful semi-detached property packed with plenty of perks. Inside you’ll find a homely living room, two large bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and off-street parking, along with a spacious garden.

With beautiful interiors and a neutral colour palette, the living room is welcoming and snug. Relax on one of the two sofas with a good book or play games with your loved ones. Modern in style, the space also includes a large coffee table, 55 inch flat screen Smart TV and delightful ornaments.

Head next door and you’ll find the dining room. With a rectangular wooden table and seating for all guests, there is ample space for your party to enjoy meals together.

With light coloured walls and sky-blue tiles, the kitchen has a bright and airy feel. Grey wooden cabinets and modern fittings fit perfectly with the nature of the property. Fully equipped for all self-catering staycations, you’ll have access to an oven, hob, toaster, kettle, fridge freezer and dishwasher during your stay.

Take the stairs up to the first floor and you’ll find two bedrooms. Bold in colour, both bedrooms have spruce blue walls to create cosy and stylish spaces. You’ll enjoy your sleep at Crab Cottage as both the king size bed in the first bedroom and twin single beds in the second bedroom feature crisp white linens and plush bedding. The closest train station is Alnmouth, which is also a short drive from Crab Cottage so local towns in Northumberland can easily be reached via rail. Routes can also be found running further afield to locations including Edinburgh, Newcastle and London.

One bus route can be found running through Longhoughton. Hop on the X18 to visit Newcastle, Morpeth, Alnwick, Seahouses and Berwick-upon-Tweed.

The nearest airport is Newcastle International, 38 miles away from Longhoughton.

Absolutely beautiful place just up from the park and the Aln Estuary and an outside area with views ... a newly converted apartment in a listed building and it has been done in such a beautiful and contemporary way way yet in keeping with its historical heritage. This booking is for one of the Luxury bedrooms - available is “Sea Breeze” , a double room. Both are en-suite and have tv and WiFi, along with coffee and tea making facilities. It is in the heart of the village so food is abounding.

The accommodation is situated above our yoga studio. It is best suited for guests who wish to join us for yoga, or for walkers, cyclists, bird watchers and anyone else who plans to be adventuring during the day and returning in the evening to relax and unwind.

Please note: this is a simple, restful space with no kitchen or lounge and the rooms do not have televisions. We do have good wifi if you wish to use your own device for entertainment, work or study.

We are located approximately 1.5 miles from the A1, 3 miles from Alnmouth train station and 3.5 miles from Alnmouth or Warkworth beach.

We have secure bicycle storage and an electric car charging point should you require it (type 2, 7.2kW).

Our property is two semi-detached houses which have been joined together on the ground floor but remain completely separate upstairs.

The guest suite is located above our yoga studio and accessed via our business entrance. It is completely separate from our family living space, though we are not far away if you need anything.

You are very welcome to make use of the garden and there are deck chairs and a garden dining table for when the weather allows!

Ramblers Cottage is a beautiful stone cottage, built in 2009 and refurbished in March 2022. Set on a small estate on the edge of Powburn village, Ramblers Cottage is ideally located between Wooler (9 miles) the gateway to The Cheviots, with it's many cafes, bistro pubs, shops and restaraunts and the historic market town of Alnwick (10 mile ) with it's majestic castle ( Harry Potter ), splendid gardens and cobbled streets. An ideal base to discover the Northumberland National Park and Coastline.

We will continue to supply bedding to all beds requested, but we now kindly request guests to strip the beds of all bedding at the end of their stay, and place into Wash Bags provided.

Close to the coast and a 5 minute drive to Alnwick, a 5 minute walk from Alnmouth train station, it's ideal for exploring Northumberland. Ideal for couples or families, the room has a king size bed, sofa bed & if required, a cot. A continental breakfast is also provided in the room.

The en-suite bathroom has a luxurious roll-top bath & large shower.

You will have use of a large bedroom at the top of our detached family home.
The room has a dining table, kettle, microwave and fridge, with tea, filter coffee, sugar, milk, continental breakfast and fruit supplied.

The house makes a great base for exploring the stunning coastline, castles and countryside of the local area, and the large comfortable room with a HD TV and Amazon Fire stick will give you space to relax during your stay.

Well behaved dogs are welcome. The local area has stunning wide open beaches, and is often referred to as 'Doggie Heaven'.

We have a large entrance hallway, you are welcome to leave any luggage here if you need to check in early, or if you need later. We often have this arrangements with visitors who take the train.

We provide guidebooks and maps of the local area to help you get the most out of your visit.
