Ideal location at the foot of the Helvellyn. Ideal for hikers, climbers, skiers. Twin beds/shower room. We are happy for super early starts for your day.
This is a lovely spacious room with its own steep stairs & entrance & small fridge/kettle and the basics to prepare cold food/salads. (salad bowls, knives, cheese boards etc)

The space
The Room With A View is on the side of our family home, with an adjoining locked door into our home, so quiet time is 10pm-7am. Although we welcome those wishing to walk at dawn or crazy night hiking! Your host is a mountain leader, and teaches navigation and Nordic Walking for the fells, so can help you with route choice and can sell you maps too! The mountains are literally outside your front door. The room has a shower room downstairs, & private entrance. Use of outside table/bench and fire-pit, logs provided at £10 for the eve.

Guest access
You will have your own entrance with a key safe outside. There are adjoining doors to the house upstairs and downstairs, so you may be able to hear the family sometimes. PLEASE NOTE: Track to the house has some potholes, but fine for normal cars but very low cars can find it tricky! Some sat nav systems bring you to a cattlegrid rather than our address... continue 1 km beyond the cattle grid, we are the first house on the left at the top of the track, just BEFORE the Helvellyn YHA. There is a sign "Bell Cottage Parking" is indicated on a post. Please remember we have 3 or 4 cars to park here so park economically and straight on in the parking area, thank you.

Other things to note
PLEASE NOTE OUR TRACK TO THE HOUSE IS 1.5KM AND NOT SUITABLE FOR PULLING SUITCASE UP IT OR VERY LOW VEHICLES, but fine for normal cars! You are welcome to park earlier on the day of your stay, and later on the day of your departure if you are hiking in the fells either day.
NOTE ALSO: There is a very steep ladder style staircase to your room from the porch and from the loo/shower room. This room is not suitable for those who may struggle up steep stairs.

QUICK ESSENTIAL INFO:

YOU NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING - all 28 bunks have full size single mattresses. Most people find that a fitted single sheet works well, and bring either duvet or sleeping bag, and a pillow or two.

The lodge has a commercial style kitchen, fully equipped with pots, pans, crockery, cutlery for up to 30. There is a cooker and hob(s), microwave (which is also a grill/conventional oven), slow/pressure cooker, rice cooker, a dishwasher, 2 fridges and a freezer.
We provide cleaning stuff, dishwasher tablets, etc. you may wish to bring a couple of extra tea towels (we provide 2 but they can get wet) and perhaps kitchen towel/paper?

There will be enough kindling and wood for a couple of good fires in the log burner should you wish - there are also 2 honesty boxes for additional logs should you want them - £10 each box - to the side of the log store.
