Within 20 minutes you could be drinking wine at a vineyard, fishing for salmon and trout in the Waimakariri River, swimming or surfing at the beach, or exploring the foothills of the Canterbury Plains on foot or by bike. Rangiora is a good starting point to spend a day in either Kaikoura, Hanmer Springs, Akaroa or Mt Hutt ski field. The house is situated up a private right of way and is sheltered by a hedge. It faces the Waikuku reserve and is a 3 minute walk from the beach.

Waikuku beach is a lovely beach community. Great sandy beach patrolled by life guards in summer. The estuary is very scenic and full of bird life. Across the reserve a coffee cart operates in summer - stroll over and enjoy a drink. Grab the bikes and cycle to Pegasus Town (10 minutes) along the bike track and grab some food and a coffee in the township. There is a resort type golf course at Pegasus along with general store.

Alternatively you can cycle the 2km to the Brick Mill complex for cafe food and coffee. A craft shop and gallery are at the same complex.

The holiday spa town of Hanmer Springs is a hour and a half drive away. Kaikoura (seals, dolphins and whale watching) is a 2 hour drive north along the coast. Wineries are 20 - 40 minutes north of Waikuku. Christchurch is a 35 - 40 minute drive south. Rangiora is the nearest large town and this is a 10 minute drive.

Ideally you will have a car - alternatively there are approximately 6 suburban buses each day to and from the town of Kaiapoi and on to the central city.

Visit the Waikuku Beach General Store for great fish and chips, ice-creams and hot and cold beverages. Only 5 minutes by car is the Brick Mill Café and situated at the Old School Collective is a variety of retail and lifestyle businesses.

Waikuku offers a range of walkways and cycle tracks including the Rakahuri Trail and Taranaki Walkway. The Pegasus Trail takes you from Waikuku Beach to Pegasus and on to Woodend through a pine forest. Pegasus is 6 minutes away by car and offers a championship golf course, picturesque lake and natural wetlands.

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. Close to the beach and lake, you can come and spend a day at the beach, go bike riding or simply just chill and watch Netflix. You might want to gym it in the garage or do Pilates. What ever you feel like doing this peaceful haven will recharge your batteries in no time. The space
This is a very quaint house in a quiet street. It gets beautiful sun all year round, the comes through in the winter and goes over the house in summer. It has a full house water filter, heat pump with air con and heating and a coffee machine, Netflix, prime and sky. There is a seated BBQ area in the middle of the street as well as a BBQ on the deck inside the house. It’s a lovely place to get away and recharge. A two minute walk to the local pub and pizza shop (and alcohol store) as well as just a stones throw to the beach entrance. There is the potential to sleep 8. A master room with on suite and walk in closet, then a smaller room with a queen bed down the hall way with a toilet and 2nd bathroom next to it, then a children's room with a king single trundler bed that has a single bed that can pull out. The couch in the lounge can fold out to a double easily and you can keep the sheets on it through the day while you fold it back up. There is potential to house a person in the garage also as it is carpeted and full curtain though it is hot in summer in there. You can park out the back of the house upon arrival and enter via the back, with two parks right outside the house also.

Guest access
Smart lock at the back entrance with a private code. You will need to internally lock the doors and exit this way each time you leave the house so that locking is keyless. If you need to go round the front to get in the car, you will need to do so via the pathway down the side of the house after locking. If you book a long stay a key can be arranged.

Other things to note
I built and lived in the house for 9 years prior to Air b and b ing it. I love this house, there are some beautiful memories in this house of fun beach holidays, biking round in my togs, bbqs on the deck and Christmas dinners made in the kitchen. I have had 12 people stay for up to a week and hosted 20 on Christmas Day. It’s a lovley place to rest and relax and the vibe in the house is just beautiful. My favourite things is to watch netflix and do a gym session in the evening and then some pizza for dinner from lake pizza (voted best in canterbury and it wont let you down) sometimes I go for a walk around the lake in the evening with the dog

Beach is walking distance (or you can drive to the beach car park. Forest Walkways and cycle tracks. This home is in a wonderful location with views to the mountains. The wetlands are home to Pukeko's and native birds. A beautifully renovated home in a relaxing beach haven.

The property was very clean and tidy, everything supplied and good communication with the owner. Just one point to make. I feel if I don't say then how will the owner know. The mattresses on the bunk beds, the one I slept on anyway, was very uncomfortable . Perhaps a thick rubber mattress with a memory foam topper pad will make for a much more comfortable night's sleep.
