BUT...THE VIEW! The property is slightly elevated from the lakeside, and directly faces the water. - "The bach at Iveagh Bay is simply one of the best we've stayed in. Tracey, our host was in touch before during and after our visit - to give us instructions on access, to check everything was OK and to ask for any suggestion about improving the experience (there was nothing by the way!) The home is tastefully decorated and refurbished, the facilities are first class, the beds and linen were super and the views of the lake out front and of the beautiful native garden in the back are gorgeous! Thanks Tracey - Murray, Sandi, Tom and Heather"

Very suitable for two families. Lots to do." - "A great family stay in bush-clad surrounds - the holiday home had everything we needed. Thanks for sharing it!" - "The house was well presented in a good location. Good amenities and space for couples. Two out of the three couples we were with did mention that the beds were quite uncomfortable and it was hard to have a good nights sleep. So it could be worth checking the mattresses. Also it was quite a late check in time considered it is winter, when we arrived we all needed a hot shower due to being out on the river all day but still had to wait for the hot water cylinder to heat up after arriving at 4pm. That would be something to take into consideration. Would definitely stay again though, it served us really well. Thank you!"

Hippie Hideaway
House
Jacksons

NO POWER
WIFI (with own hotspot 4G)
NO STRESS

The space
Settled in the middle of the west coast bush "The hut" has had to withhold the rough coastal weather.
This tiny house was originally built 1986 by a couple of hippies, so it's a real tiny house. After they moved out it was used as a schoolhouse (correspondence school). There are many stories to be told if you are interested, but only if you want.

If you are keen to be set back in time and live the simple life for a couple of nights, then this is perfect! There is no power, no wifi and no cellphone reception. And that is a good thing! Enjoy the peace and quiet, go visit the glow worms 10m from the hut and stare at the amazing stars of the Southern Hemisphere - guaranteed no light pollution! If it gets cold in the evening you can light the fire and cuddle up on the couch, play some cards or just talk.

There is a solar heated shower in the bush just behind the hut and a porter potty. But you are more than welcome to use the shower and toilet up at the main house.
Lake Moana (Brunner) is a 20min drive away. There are also tracks going round our section with majestic native trees, streams, birds - the real west coast rain forest.
Please note the this is not a 5* hotel, it's a hut in the bush with all it's terms and conditions: there are birds, possums, spiders, insects, rats, sandflies and everything else that lives in the bush. The hut is cleaned after every guest, the bedding and towels washed, but it is not a sterile environment, so please don't expect it to be.
Consider it more as "glamping" than a holiday house.
