The property is located walking distance (hill) of just over 1km from central Richmond. There are several mountain biking trails and hill walks in the vicinity.

Our farmlet sits slightly elevated within an idyllic rural setting in Hope, overlooking the Waimea Plains with its orchards, wineries and incredible produce. It includes paddocks where we graze some cows and sheep, the home orchard, with some fruit trees and home to our chickens, a wetland area with native bush and bird life, a big pond, loved by our ducks and geese and of course the pear orchard.

A cluster of buildings forms the heart of the farmlet: the old farm house (where we live), various barns and outbuildings and the lodge, which can accommodate up to 16 guests. (Note: Book our Shearer's Cottage to accommodate up to 4 more guests!) With its large sunny verandah, garden area and associated 'hay barn', the lodge is also a great place for small events , corporate retreats and family get-togethers.

While purposely rough and rustic on the outside, the lodge building follows clean lines and is designed to a high spec inside. The design is inspired by the local vernacular and refined to blend in with other outbuildings around the farm. The building's proportions and exterior interpret the typical old barns seen in the Tasman area with their ramshackle patchwork of old corrugated iron, hand-made carpentry detailing and overhanging roof lines.

- "We really enjoyed our stay at the Pear Orchard Lodge. The place is beautifully set up and thought has been given to what guests will need. We had the whole lodge booked for a family get-together, and it was fantastic to have room for everyone and no 'dud' bedrooms. The kitchen is well set up for catering to a large group, without ever feeling like you are on top of each other, and it was nice to have the large dining table and a serving table. One thing that we agreed would have made it perfect was a comfortable lounge space (particularly for the day we were 'rained in'), but nonetheless it suited us very well. Would definitely recommend. Waking up to a stunning view of mount Arthur & the western rangers. Our family friendly 3 bedroom house is located so you have a stunning view from the bed. A short drive to Richmond (10min) or to Mapua (7 min), a beautiful coastal little town, we are located in a quiet cul de sac, perfect for kids. Our friendly neighbourhood is very welcoming. A large garden area with fruit trees and a large deck area are perfect to soak up the mid day & afternoon sun. We also have 1 bedroom with cot available for little guests. Our open plan living and dining area opens up through a large sliding door directly on to the deck- it is all flat surface.
Our friendly Cat Bobby will be staying in the house. So not suited for people who have a cat allergy.
Herbs, spices, coffee and tea will be available and including fridge/freezer and kitchen gadgets, gas stove & coffee machine.
Native birds are frequent visitors to our property and a fire can keep you warm on colder nights (wood provided).
Our home is family orientated and offers a large wooden toy kitchen and loads of room to explore in the garden including a big trampoline nestled into the bank covered by native grasses.

Leedale is on River Terrace Road just 1km from the state highway north or south. Easy flat access to your room and car parking is close.

My husband and I enjoy meeting and chatting with our guests in the evening. Ricky is a farm manager and leaves for work at 7 am, I look after our farm let and gardens.

Located in Brightwater, a cool little village that has all the needs of any good holiday covered, a Sprig and Fern pub with 18 beers on tap, a café, a coffee cart, a 4 square and a play ground all within 5 minutes walk. Jump on a bike and shoot down the Great Taste bike trail which goes right past our driveway, or cool off at the river in one of the many swimming holes nearby.

The disclaimers:
1. Ya gotta like cats - Kora our super friendly bundle of fur will be staying at the house while you are there. If your stay is longer than a week, someone will drop in to top up Kora’s food and water.
2. We are almost finished renovating our spaces but not everything is quite complete, there is not much noticeable inside that is incomplete but there are still some work to be done outside to get it to where we want our beautiful space to be. Nothing serious but if a project that is not fully completed is something that brings you stress, this may not be the place for you to get in the fully relaxed state you deserve.
3. There is a bee hive hidden behind a screen beside the garage. You will likely not notice it and the bees from the hive are typically not seen on the property as they travel quite a distance to collect there nectar.

Sheep graze on ours and the neighbouring properties. If you go into their paddock, please be mindful of their space and close any gates you open.

One bedroom is up a spiral staircase, and there is access to a walkway with open railing from here. These spaces are unsuitable for young children.

We keep our pantry stocked with basic supplies, including coffee (ground, whole beans and decaf ground), milk (please let us know your preference (cows or oats), black and herbal tea, salt, pepper and olive oil. There are both plunger and stove-top coffee-making options.

Farm the Calm Homestead is nestled amongst a small organic lavender farm at the base of Mt Heslington in beautiful Brightwater, making it a perfect centralised position to explore the Tasman and Nelson regions. Farm the Calm Homestead is a stand alone house positioned in a fully fenced property within a larger 2.3 hectare lifestyle block. Guests have access to the whole fenced off part of the section around the house which offers great security for pets and children. The owners Bridget and Scott occasionally live by the barn in another part of the larger property and are happy to have as much or as little interaction as required by the guests. It is preferred that guests don't wonder outside the house section and chicken coop without prior arrangement.
