This newly completed, self-contained accommodation unit has been built to the highest specifications, is separate from the hosts villa and set amongst 40 acres of rolling farmland and rural forest. You will be free to wonder and enjoy the landscaped gardens and private lawns or just sit back and enjoy the view of the western ranges from your own private deck.
The position of this property overlooks Mapua and Tasman Bay, with views over Richmond and the Richmond ranges on one side with the Western ranges to the other. You will be able to enjoy the complete quietness, only interrupted by native birdsong and watch the hawk's soar over the ridges below you, from which this property gets its name. There is only one accommodation unit available so you will not be sharing your stay with other guests.
All this is in a central location which enables you access to Mapua,(15min) Rabbit Island’s safe sandy beaches,(10min) Richmond,(15min) Nelson(25min) and the start of the Abel Tasman National Park,(40min). Nelson Lakes National Park, which boasts ski fields and good alpine trout fishing rivers, are less than an hour to the south.
The property is accessed by a private gravelled driveway off Redwood Valley Road. It is always a good idea to contact us prior to arrival, to arrange to have us meet you at this point or another suitable location. This will ensure you find us quickly and easily.

The Cottage is located on a small farm near Nelson. If you are looking for clean, comfortable accommodation, quiet but still near civilization, this is just for you. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind. In tranquil rural surroundings, enjoy a glass of local wine on the deck and uninterrupted views of the night sky. The Cottage is well equipped and has everything you will need for a relaxing stay. An extra fee is charged to access the second bedroom if travelers are not a couple.

The space
We have plenty of parking available so parking a boat, trailer or even a horse box is not a problem.
The deck is a great place to relax with a coffee or a wine and read a book or just be mindful of the country surroundings.
A swimming pool at the main house is also available by arrangement.
The Cottage has a sheltered, covered outdoor area with seating suitable for cooking on the BBQ.
There is easy access to the entrance of the building via a ramp.

Other things to note
Provisions are provided for a continental type breakfast for the first two mornings of your stay. Please advise us of your milk preference, if you have any. Due to varied bread preferences we do not provide bread for toast.

Beautiful Boutique Straw Bale Cottage, completely private with 3 double bedrooms (sleeps 6 adults, plus 2 additional single beds and cot available) on a 16 acre farm in Brightwater, Nelson. In the heart of wine country with beaches, rivers (fly fishing in the Motueka Valley), cafes and cycle trails a few minutes away. Great outdoor area with BBQ and brazier and outdoor dining.

The cottage is completely private and only guests are invited to use the space in and around the Cottage during your stay. There are however spaces around the Cottage to wander. We can also accompany you to walk through the paddocks and enjoy the views.

Other things to note
Breakfast supplies are included in the room rates. Locally sourced eggs, bread and milk plus home made preserves, baked goods and a selection of cereals are available for you to help yourselves.

If you wish to bring your pet, please ask us first to ensure the property is suitable for them. Pets do need to be kept under strict control whilst outside as there are cattle grazing in adjacent paddocks. Pets cannot be left alone in the Cottage whilst you are out exploring.
