Starlight De Heaven is a fully self contained cosy two storey character cottage featuring three spacious private bedrooms with separate entrances, two private bathrooms and a spa bathtub. The upper floor has a wrap around deck with mountain and lake views, and there has fireplace that was mine favorite, also my guest's love! This is especially important in winter if you like to ski.

The house is located next to the pine forest (Cowans Hill Walkway) in a quiet part of the village away from the main highway. It is easy walking only 1000 meter distance to the lake, Church of the Good Shepherd and Lake Tekapo village.

Famous Mount Cook Hooker Valley is 1 hour 10 minutes away. You can see Tasman glaciers over there.

Also, It is a 17 minutes drive to Mount John observatory which has a full view over Lake Tekapo and is an excellent point to appreciate starlight. However they will charge you if you would like to go up there at night. Anywhere else is free to do stargazing though.

Pioneer Cottage is built in 1933, nestled within our large villa by the lake. Anyone familiar with the local history will tell you that Tekapo 1929 is the oldest residence in the area. Our intention has always been to preserve its original style, including the decor, fixtures, and furniture, so that every guest can not only enjoy the views of Tekapo but also experience a glimpse of its past.

An affordable, rustic yet modern cottage. Warm and cosy, it is a delightful retreat at any time of the year. It is well appointed and enjoys all day sun. The verandas around the cottage are a nice spot to sit and enjoy that glass of wine, beer or a coffee/tea while taking in the views. Located in a mature wooded area on Pioneer Drive, 250 metres from the lake and the Church of the Good Shepherd with a western aspect towards Mt John and Lake Tekapo village. it does not have a lake view.

The space
A boutique two-bedroom pioneer cottage. One double room with ensuite and queen sized double bed; one single room with two single beds and a separate bathroom. The cottage is fully self-contained. It has a cosy log burner (without a fireguard), and electric heating for those chilly but beautiful winter days. There is a clothes dryer in the outside storeroom and a carport. The house is double glazed throughout. The bathrooms have underfloor heating. Free high-speed Wi-Fi, and Sky TV. Come and enjoy our cosy cottage. Our property is strictly no smoking/no vaping, internally and externally. Tekapo can, at times, be a high fire risk and our cottage is of wood construction. Thank you for respecting this. In addition, the section does not have fenced boundaries which gives the feeling of a non-restrictive setting for you to enjoy. It is NOT suitable for young children or infants.

Other things to note
The cottage is NOT suitable for children (under 12 years of age) or infants. We will decline bookings for infants as the cottage is not equipped to cater for them. In addition, it is situated on a busy road to the Church of the Good Shepard and does not have garden walls to prevent children wandering on to the road. The living room also has an unguarded log burner. In addition, we do not accept pets of any kind.

Our lovely older style cottage is easy walking distance to the shore of Lake Tekapo and the village centre. It is down a long drive; private while giving a corridor view of the turquoise blue waters of Lake Tekapo.

The outdoor area offers shade. The living area is spacious and joins the open plan kitchen/dining with a log fire and wall heater. The kitchen is well equipped, including a dishwasher.

There are two double bedrooms and a port-a-cot available for an infant.

By prior agreement, Beech Cottage also welcomes well-behaved dogs, so your whole family can enjoy the break (not fenced). Additional $30 dog stay fee.

Please use the marked gravel pathway provided. Should guests choose to take the ‘scenic route’ up the hill which is slippery and obstructed by falling apples, they must do so at their own risk.
